No, McCants can tackle. Got himself a couple tackle blocks last year.

I kinda like McCants but the only tackle/block I remeber from him was that penalty he had. He doesn't seem motivated to me.

I remember that play. I thought, Wow, didn't anyone ever teach him the rules about blocking?

I love it. Everybody is still looking for the next Art Monk, and size comparisions are all some need to say, "This is the guy". Are you kidding me ? Monk would've fetched the Gatorade
on Game Day if Joe had asked him to. It's crap. D-Mac is so hung up on his own press that he can't get out of his own way. He watched football from the sidelines for most of last year for this reason. What, you had a couple of big third downs for scores ? What was our record that year, if I may be allowed to ask ? It was piss-poor. Guess what the record would have been if he wasn't here ? Still piss-poor. D-Mac is no season-maker. He could be a valuable cog in a much larger wheel, but he needs to do what is asked of him...show effort in practices, and play ST's
when needed.
"....can't be successful without an 'Art Monk' type receiver..."
Man, that ticks me off. I guess we're gonna stink forever then, because there are no more 'Art Monk' type receivers.
Bottom line.

IMO Lavar could be ALL WORLD AT LB POSITION
No matter what you may say Arrington has not lived up to the hype and his potential.
He has been allowed to live off of his physical reputation so far, the whole league knows he is not a discipline player.
His blown and missed assignments overshadow all other things he have done positive.
Lavar has only been a factor in about 3 or 4 games.

I would never, ever call you a Cowboy fan. Too harsh. Welcome home, baby. Nice insight. Put the star away, man. There's no need to punish yourself like that.
Anyway, I agree with you about LaVar. He hasn't shown me anything in quite some time, and I'm pretty well known for my feelings on his roster spot and the "extra" money he feels we owe him. "Potential" is a stretched-out four letter word to me. I hate it. I particulary hate it after five years of nothing much.
'Course, we haven't signed any failed third basemen lately, either.

Well if they cut him, it may end up a Jimmy Smith situation.

Gibbs needs to handle the Dmac situation alittle different.

Why would u cut Dmac and keep Thrash and Dyson

If they cut him it will be because he was dogging it in camp. He looked pretty bad today(8/4/05)

These were with no coverage. To say the least he has not impressed me at all so far in camp. However after one of his drops Dyson dropped one right after him. It is rumored that McCants and Dyson are playing for one spot. I like him a lot so I hope he picks it up!

Lets not forget how Lavar's big hits can change the momentum of an offense.

What is the difference between the way that Lavar "freelances" and Ray Lewis roaming around on D? Isn't that what hungry linebackers do? I do agree that he needs to become more disciplined and play his position, though. This should come with more time and learning under this coaching staff.

Most importantly, I hope that he is happy here, comes back at full strenght, and stays in Washington for years to come.

Im dont watch the Ravens too often but Ray doesn't blow his assignment. Plus Ray is a MLB so his responsibilities aren't a tad bit different. I give credit where its due and Ray is an elite LB. This cat does his job and everyone elses. Its my opinion that Lavar does other peoples jobs and leave his job out in the open.

The most recent example I have is under the Spurrier regime. Trotter made a heads up play and left his man open to go for the sack in the endzone. He did it, he got there in time and was praised. At the end of the game with the Giants rallying for a win Lavar immitates wut Trotter did but got there seconds late. The RB he was supposed to be covering ran out into the flats, up the sideline, caught a long bomb and got them in position for their game winning field goal. Thats one example of Lavar blowing coverage.

Coles and Rod Gardner were not the only problem on Offense last year (i.e. boonell, jansen injury, bad luck etc.) but they did limit the playing time of players like Jacobs and McCants, Santana is a burner and will need some plays off, so will patten, I like what I'm hearing about Antonio Brown, and I'll bet Kevin Dyson makes the redskins this season. We need a corner because our Wr's are probably running our Db's into the ground.

I hope LA comes back and proves all of his critics wrong. Maybe with a consistent coaching staff, which I am positive we will have, he will prove how great he really is. He also has something to prove. I would not want to stand between him and the QB. When he plays again he is going to dominate.

I remember last year we had this same exact discussion CLL. I also told you that I had all of Spurriers games on TiVo including my Favorite, the game against Tennessee(Ramsey)

I also remember skimming through all 4 Giants game looking for that play. I still cant find it the way you keep telling it.

Listen up, the Giants game I saw was Lavar blitzing from the weakside and Kerry Collins dumping off to Tiki on the strongside. The Fullback was blocking Lavars blitz. That means whatever LB is on the strongside or the Middle should have picked up the RB and hell where were the safties, oh I know, they bit on the pump. Besides the year before that Lavar had eleven sacks with Marvin Lewis.

The other thing is when he was with Marvin Lewis we never heard this crap about him freelancing, and soon as we get a coordinator here that didnt put his players in the right position to win, its all Lavars fault. Gimme a Break!

ps
I recall one year he was quote on quote freelancing, it was the game against Carolina. We had lost 5 games(Martys fault) prior to playing the Cats and Lavar started freelancing or was to asked to zone and he intercepted the ball to change our season and make history.

Man one other thing is I watched the Sterling Sharpe display and he said in his opinion its up to the coordinator to put players in position so they dont have to compensate for each other time to time.

Micheal Jordan at onetime tried to do it all, I never heard anyone say he freelanced :-k

I believe you're correct in the game you feel Im refferring too. Sorry for being so vague, Im just pulling it out of memory.

I dont believe Lavar is 100% at fault but it free-lancing is his M.O. I dont think we'll have an issue with him doing it in this system. I think Lavar was trying to compensate at times for a lack of coaching talent at periods of time in the recent past. I think that compensation backfired on him at times. Thats all.

I just believe that half the defensive coaches that we've had here ask Lavar to do too much and the other half know what they are doing or going to do with his talents.

If Lavar had one coach for the last year and I saw his skills slide I would be worried. I just want the guy like the rest of the team to have some type of persistent coaching.

Joeramse, I was just wondering how many big hits have Lavar issued out that have changed games.
