Ok skins81 you sound like you have experience with this. I'm just praying if it's asthma he can still play football, he would be so heart broken if he couldnt.

Niki my thoughts and best wishes are with yourself, Scott and Jackson

If it is asthma then I am pretty sure he can still play football. There are dozens of people playing australian football who have had asthma as a kid

Also dont be surprised if your doctor suggests swimming if it is asthma - Ian Thorpe who is currently considered to be the best swimmer in the world was a chronic asthmatic when he was a small child

Thanks for the updates, Niki.

Jackson will be fine.

The little guy will be in my prayers.

Niki, asthma need not restrict Jackson from any sport he wants to play. I had asthma as a kid, and played everything. My daughter developed asthma in college, but rowed four years on the crew team -- about as strenuous a sport as I have seen.

Thanks guys for the well wishes. We are doing ok but there's been alot of wheezing today. Tomorrow we see his dr again to make sure he is ok without the more frequent breathing treatment and the oxygen.

And welch thanks for the info I was worried he'd not be able to participate in sports and that would crush him, as anyone whose met him knows.

:hmm: how did I miss this thread earlier.

Well, first I want to say thanks to everyone who thought about us over the past few days.

Jackson is getting back to normal slowly but surely. Today I literally had to drag him back in the house once he saw his opening and took off behind me when I went to the car.

He is going through a weird cycle of behavior because of a combination on steroids, antibiotics and abutirol. One minute he's bouncing off the walls and then the next minute he is passing out.

Thanks again for the thoughts.

I know of a few linemen that go through the same cycle.

Seriously, thanks for the good news. I was worried about the oxygen levels because they can have other negative effects unrelated to his breathing. Please keep us posted.

Take care guys and keep us posted. Lots of people have Asthma and if that's what it is it's normally controllable so he will be able to do the things he wants to do. My daughter is 24 and has allergies and asthma and she used to play soccer and she occasionally does some jogging. Jackson will be able to do the things he wants to do. :-) You guys try to get some rest. Tell Jackson hi for Jake and me and we hope to see him again at training camp.

I'm glad to hear he's almost back in business! You guys are great parents and have done everything you can!! Hopefully you can get some rest this week b/c I'm sure you're worn out.

As Terri said, tons of people have asthma and allergies (some outgrow it too) so he'll be fine. Keep us posted. Hang in there!! He'll be spiking that football again before you know it :-)

He's much better. He woke up at 6 am ready to go. He was signing while I was in the shower. His breathing treatment has really helped and the steriods, aside from the rage, are wonderful. Yesterday the dr kind of sort of told us asthma. We are supposed to scoop him up and take him in if he started the major coughing fits again.

Gotta watch out for roid rage. Next thing you know he'll have a giant melon.

Seriously though, glad to hear he's doing better.

Last I knew, he could only sign mommy, daddy and macaroni and cheese. Has he learned more?

You are an ass! I made a little typo and you have to point it out. Remember that you have to come home this evening pal, and I'm gonna make you pay for that comment!

He was singing while I was the shower. And unforunately he got his father's voice so the dogs next door were howling. :-P

Wow, sounds exactly like what my little brother has. The albuterol treatments are all too familar to me. He (my brother) used to really dislike the treatments at first, but got used to them after a while. He is much better these days.

Does your son have bad allergies (i.e. dogs) as well? I don't know if they go hand-in-hand, but my brother's problems seem to kick up more when his allergies come into play.

Glad to hear he is getting better! :D

Hey! Attack the poster, NOT the post! Ah, I mean, attack the post... ROTFALMAO

Glad things are starting to level out a bit. I hope you got yourself a bath or some "me" time!

I got some "me" time at the hospital which consisted of a walk, a short call from a friend on my cell phone, and a trip to the gift shop to pick up a paper for Scott and of course a gift for Jackson. Any guesses on what I bought him?? Ok it was a football, a little red white and blue soft one. He of course loved it. lol Sorry about the attack, I meant to call his post an ass not him. lol
