when Hakim was a free agent out of St. Louis, weren't the Skins going to try and get him?

Hakim has a bad case of Fumbleitis, I really do not want to see that in DC, however, 50-50 does not inspire confidence in me

I think they were considering it. Good thing he signed with the Lions and exposed his weaknesses as a WR.

First of lets stop looking for the shock and awe this offseason. Lets work with what we have.
Second anybody remeber the last good recievers in DC as I recall Art Monk was the biggest of all of them. At the reciever postion size helps but its how well you run routes (which can be taught) and how well you hold on to the ball (which can be strengthened with practice) So once again lets stop coveting whats out there and concentrate on supporting those guys we already had.
Third, I love how we jump all over a guy for a bad season. True Gardner flat out sucked last year but he has had some good seasons and he was extremely reliable during the spurrier years providing the quarterback stayed upright long enough to deliver the ball. I seem to recall a running back that we used to have that had a bad year then left us then went to a new team and helped lead them to a NFC Title, not that we were jumping all over him but bad years come for every player.

I don't know about Smurfs, but I know the Run & Shoot is gonna make a comeback. Get on the midget bandwagon now before all the good seats are taken.

Should we go after David Boston? Since our receiving corps is so deep we could give him a chance and see what happens! There could be a huge upside and I think he would come cheap! He has a lot to prove!

True Gardner flat out sucked last year but he has had some good seasons and he was extremely reliable during the spurrier years
The most catches Gardner has had came in 2002 when he had 71.
Stats for Gardner (oua FIRST ROUND pick):
2001 -> 46rec,742yds,4TD
2002 -> 71rec,1006yds,8TD
2003 -> 59rec,600yds,5TD
2004 -> 51rec,650yds,5TD
So which season other than 2002 was GOOD ??
Additionally there's a reason his nickname is 50/50.

What's the difference in signing Az, rather than drafting a rookie..all of ya'll wanted Braylon Edwards or Mike Williams(who haven't proved themselves yet) and yet you don't want a vet who played a big part in the Rams' Super Bowl Championship...I hope we do sign him and get rid of Rod Gardener..
I didn't want Williams, and I definitely don't want Hakim. He's exactly what we already have except he's not as good.
I'd have taken Troy Williamson in a heartbeat, but that kid is gonna be special. You don't take a rookie WR to start right away anyway. They are like QBs, they need time to develope....

Why have a discussion about the guy. We don't need him. We have too many WR's of too little quality.

we do not need this guy or any other WRs.
I thought we were supposed to be a running team that controls the ball. We have a good defense, now we just need the running game to work.

We need another true deep-ball attack like when Rypien was running the offense. That's what we need.....a QB that can get the ball deep.

We already have a slow WR with questionable hands in Gardner....why would we wan't a really fast one with questionable hands also?
They would make great bookends though
On a serious note. The E-Gals made it to 4 straight NFC Championship games without a #1 WR. TO was hurt last playoffs so he does not count.
How many #1 WR's do the Patriots have ???? ZILCH !!!
Good Offense......Good Defense.....and good coaching wins championships.
We have a good D and a good coach all we need to do is get the rock in the endzone !!!!!

we aren't a run first team. With Gibbs running the team, we will be whatever works with the players we have. He's had teams that ran first and teams that passed first. I think this team we have now will be pretty balanced by the time it all shakes out. We should have a very good passing game and a very good running game by the time the playoffs hit. We'll be ready, and nobody will want to play us. And hopefully we'll give em good reason not to
