I forgot about Howard .... but that could work.
He is due over $7 million this year. It wouldn't work.
It could work with an extension (barely), but either way they go, they're going to have to unload some contacts to even sign #9 and #25.

That's the one year tender he signed he'd have to sign a longer term deal for the trade to work.

Well if we're planning on drafting a QB with number 25, then it's definitely not a bad idea considering most rookie QB's should sit the bench and develop for a few seasons so basically we'd be getting a head start on our next years number 1. Regardless I definitely think we should get Mike Williams at pick 9 if available, otherwise draft either PacMan/Rolle and get a pass rushing DE like Justin Tuck or even Merriman if for some weird reason he fell that far

I thought the tenders aren't re-workable.

He can sign a long term deal with N.O. or a extention with us where part of the $7 million is converted into a signing bonus

I dont like this at all. I think we will take Miller or best wideout available at 25 and trade for Buchanon and their 2nd with the ninth pick which we use to draft a mlb, hopefully Barret Rudd. Giving up way too much for that 25 pick.

This is a good trade...
Well,better than what you think.
So we gave up our third. Oh well...all our picks will be made in the first.
The 4th will be irrelevant next year, and the 1st wont mean anything next year because we'll win.
It seems stupid, but thats the IDEA. It looks that way (like this whole offseason) BUT NO...its all smoke and mirrors. Gibbs is working his mojo. Just let the man work.
Face it, we need a backup QB. Mark won't cut it. Hasselbeck might not even very long...so we need to draft past Patrick.
AS I Imagine it....we pick a DE with out #9, then with the 25th pick a Corner or WR....OR use a #9 on WR/CB and the 25th on DE....either way it works.
And Either way Joe needs to start winning...
Or we're screwed next year with this trade....

this completely sucks if we draft a qb...we have much bigger needs then qb, stefon lefors would b available later in the draft for a backup its completely stupid to draft a qb ramsey is fine and i thought gibbs supposedly had confidence in brunell...im not going to believe the qb rmor until i hear it from a good source

I think it has more to do with Patrick than it Does with Brunell or else we would not pick a QB that high.

I cant believe we did this hours after vinny said we arent trading it away

Keep in mind that just because John Clayton says that he thinks we will get a QB does not mean that we will.
These reporters basically stick something out there to get people's attention...while every other reporter says (CB or WR) he says QB, and he gives the impression that he knows the inside scoop. Hasslebeck just signed, Brunell is untradeable with the cap situation, and Gibbs is notoriously against young quarterbacks.
I don't see how that could work at all.
Hopefully we can get a 3rd for Gardner, so that we have more than these two picks on day one. We also should get compensatory picks for A Pierce and F Smoot next year...so this may not be so bad afterall!

Yeah nice logic the hogster...I hope we use one of the picks on a wr...I say if we use 9 on a wr we can get fabian washington with 25th...but all i can say is its going to be an exiting first roudn this year

This gives us so many options. Its very risky trading away future picks when you don't where you'll be picking. I think our front office figures, with our cap situation, we won't be able to sign a top 10 pick next year if we get one and if its a low pick, we got good value for it.

I'd rather draft the other way.
Get a CB at #9 and then a DE with #25.
I mean the CB at #9 are Pacman, Antrell, and Rogers but then at 25 I believe there is a HUGE drop off with Fabian Washington, Marlin Jackson, and Justin Miller.
But the drop off from DE's from #9 to #25... well there is no drop off.
The only DEs who should be gone by #25 are Merriman, Spears, and Demarcus Ware, and maybe Erasmus.
But if Erasmus is there we could choose from James, Pollack, Cody, or Roth.
This is what I would like:
#9: 1)Rolle 2)Pacman 3)Rogers
#25: 1)Heath Miller 2)Erasmus James 3) Mark Clayton 4)Any of the remaining top DE
Official Trade...2 first round draft pics!!!

Even though we have to give them our first round for next year. I still think we win because our pic will be high next year due to the great season we will have this year.

ill bet we trade some 2006 picks for say a 3rd rounder this year if gibbs & crew sees a guy they want (cooley last year) and we start a never ending chain of trading future picks to get where we want to be. and next year's 1st rounder is going to be the 32nd pick anyways, so its not that bad

With a decent pass rush... we don't need a premiere corner... and I believe we have enough weapons on offense to get the job done.... we need chemistry on offense more than we need another playmaker....
What I'd like to see, is us just get
nasty with our two picks and take TWO DE....
I'd say try to trade that #9 and move back alittle and pick up a 2nd or 3rd (would be nice, but not necessary) and snag Pollack or Merriman... and then at #25 grab Roth or Cody.... Mix those two guys in with Springs, Taylor, Washington...a healthy Daniels, Bowen & Arrington... and we won't need to worry about our pass rush anymore

... or worry about a guy like Wilds at CB....
