A few months ago Doc Walker hit the roof on Sports Talk 980 when the subject came up about Portis and Taylor. He said these guys are the type of problems that the Redskins do not need, he felt like they slaped Joe Gibbs and all former Redskins players in the face with their desire to be different. He mentioned Portis with his number change, him and Taylor wearig different socks. He said they will never win anything as long as they desire to be diffenent and not buy into Joe Gibbs system built around being one as a Team. I have right to be upset as a fan, I have had season tickets since 1983 and I will relax once I get to watch the Redskins win more than a few games every year. I do not care how good you are as a player if you are a distraction to the rest of the team "Don't let the door hit you in the A##". To go on record I love Sean Taylor and Clinton Portis as players I just wish they would put up or shut up.

Just a few points.

We've been losing way before either of these guys came on board. We haven't had players wear unique socks for as long as I can remeber and we've been losing. We' have a number change or two in the past years and we've still lost...

I think that my point is, our problem lay a lot deeper than socks and numbers.

As far as these two guys putting up or shutting up?

Clinton had 1300 yards!!! He didn't hardly get the ball in some games. He ran in a "Jansenless" line, with a 40 year old black man who is old enough to be my dad, a suspect center, and a TERRIBLE passing game!!!

Taylor didn't start the pre-season or regular season. This man as a rookie, who isn't supposed to be able to play like he did, came in a took over. He was all over the field, he was making plays left and right. He scared WR's, they were frightened to catch the ball infront of him. He stopped the run, lifting RB's up off of the ground, and clothes lined a few too.

Sean Taylor played at the level of some veterans as a ROOKIE. He can only get better and progress. He'll have an entire offseason to prepare unlike last year. He'll have a year in this system!

Clinton has a center and Ramsey at the helm. If Ramsey can complete passes, there won't be 8guys in the box like there was with Brunell.

These guys are beasts...I know its the offseason and news is slow but I think to complain about socks and numbers is reaching a bit.

Thanks also Chris!

Only thing I would add is that if you bought the jersey it says TAYLOR and it does not matter what # is on it! Hopefully Taylor is a Redskin for a long time - he is destined for greatness.

Wear it with pride - It's a Redskins jersey. It will always will be one of the finest trophy/jerseys available.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Have we even been presented with any evidence at all regarding a possible number change?

If you concerned about spending money for a jersey, don't buy one until they retire. If I was able to play I'd change my jersey every year just to mess with the fans. I even liked the socks thing. I was at the Giants game, I read it as watch me, I'm going to lay it all out today. And they did.

If a new Riggins showed up with a mohawk hair cut you guys would probably run him out of town.
Go Skins!!!
I was reading in the paper today about this dwarf that got pick pocketed. How could anyone stoop so low?

I don't think so. It seems like some person is just selling a bunch of Taylor jersies for 30 bucks. . .I still think that I'd jump on that one.

I, for one, like the #36. Why? Because I think it's cool when #36 stands right next to #56 and both cats are damn similar in size!

He can't. The number is unofficially retired.

Does anyone have an actual link to a story? Are we just going off the word of the lady at the redskins store?

The whole #42 thing was a joke. Taylor needs to be his own guy, not live up to the Ronnie Lott comparisons/expectations.

People who bought a Taylor jersey during or after last season would be pissed if he decided to change his number. Don't you think? Jake, I'd buy another one too! I have no problem spending money on Skins' merchandise. I do it all the time! I have a couple jerseys already (not Taylor) but I'd like to get a Taylor one myself. I'm just going to wait it out and see what happens. Of course all of this depends on the validity of the original post. Don't believe it until you see it...

Remember, the redskins store also puts things on sale based on the top secret personnel decisions being made by Joe Gibbs, some times months in advance.

This is a fake... Seans not changing his number. Theres a little thing they call promo sales and the offseason is a good time to sell jerseys for a cheaper price because not many people wear jerseys in the summer

I like what Smoot said at the begining of last year, "you look behind you and see that big 6 thinking it's LaVar, when it's the rookie.

How many other players you think are thinking about those 2 looking like twins every play with the serious explosive ability?
