Man everyone, get off the guys back... Granted he's washed up. However, he had a horrible Oline, Gibbs admits his offensive plan was weak. However, the guy did a good deed for us by taking a pay cut... What would you do? Honestly...

Also, it's clear reading some of these posts that some of you don't get cap, salary and bonus stuff. BH knows a lot more than I but here's what I do know...

Brunnel signed a big contract...no question...approx 37 mil of the 43 (if that was the total amount, I forget) is money he will not get. $37 mil is the total of his salaries for 06-10...

He got an approx. 8 mil SB and that's getting spread over the 7 years of the deal...we've allocated 2/7 of the 8 mil after this year. I'd say, he either redoes his 06 salary or we cut him. If we cut him before June 1, 2006, he will count the remaining 5/7 of 8 mil on our 2006 cap. If we cut him after June 1, 2006 (my guess) he will count 1/7 of 8 mil in 2006 and 4/7 of 8 mil in 2007.

He didn't have to take a paycut...give the poor guy a break. He will hopefully be a good mentor for Ramsey...he was a very good QB in his day.

The way the article reads, Brunnel may actually making the same or more money this season than if he didn't restructure.

The only temporary benefit is that it'll push a million off of this year's cap onto next year's. From what I've seen of the Redskins' cap structure for 2006, I don't know if this was the wisest decision.

Maybe, just maybe, he gave up more, but Joe is hiding the true fact. I hope so, that just doesn't seem right.

I am kind of worried we might get a second day pick that Ir eally like and will be heart broken to watch them leave. I hope that we might get someone who might not be good, but is top notch physically... For a second day guy.

Not too much of a resrtucturing but definitely will help. Thank you Brunell for being nice and understanding!! But, please do not expect to start for us just because you helped us out in a difficult situation.

After reading the latest Post article, I take back what I said about it "only" being $1 mil. The article said he was scheduled to make $2 mil this year, so by restructuring, he took off half of his salary.

I know in the NBA, you get no relief for a players death, but if they are incarcerated you do. So maybe we just need to get him arrested.

It appears obvious from reading all the post on this thread there's not a lot of love for Brunell. However, we must remember he is still a Redskin and still on the team. It is not out of the realm of possibility that he might have to still throw a pass for us at some time in the future. Based on what I'm reading I would say we all hope not but, he is the back-up and the back-up is only one play from playing.

Hypothetically, the Redskins are off to a great start next season with Ramsey as the starter, say 6 and 2 at the midway point and God-Forbid Ramsey sustains an injury. Up pops our man for the stretch run and we'll have little alternative but to root for the guy. Let's hope it remains hypothetical and maybe for the sake of our football not a fact.

Ramsey is a tank. With an improved 0-line there is no way that he should get hurt. After the beating he took under Spurrier what could possibly happen now that could be worse? LOL :lol:

The only way Ramsey is going to get hurt is if he scrambles, or slips in the shower.

I am all for drafting Lefors from Louisville with our 3rd or 4th pick. We can all agree the Brunell is gone as soon as its most cap friendly to do so. Now is the time to get a young QB with proven skills. Lefors reminds me of Doug Flutie. Small, but fast and accurate with a high QB IQ.

Where we going to put him on the practice squad where he's totally unprotected?

I think the Redskins intend to go with Hasselbeck or they wouldn't have tendered him an offer. A young quarterback to hold a clipboard is just not high enough on our needs list for us to squander a draft pick on IMO.... let alone a mid round pick.

Why waste a mid round pick on a bench warmer when you can grab an offensive lineman there that can provide you immediate depth?

I like Lefors though. :-)

If you can draft a potential starter in the 3rd or 4th round it is worth it. I see him as the backup next season. He is better than Hasselback and it is good to lock him up now. Quarterbacks get injured if anything happens to Ramsey I'd feel good about Lefores in there.

Plus we don't have to pay him that much money. We do have other needs but if he is available he should AT LEAST be considered.

You'd feel good having a rookie in there? In Joe Gibbs offense? That's crazy. Hass is a much better option. Hass could actually be a pretty good QB in my opinion. We don't need a QB for awhile I think, so I doubt we'll add any this year.

Brunell may not even make the team this season. The Skins could release him after 6/1 and spread the cap hit. It was a bad move, made worse by the totally pathetic play of the nice-guy, lefty. There is no good excuse for Brunell playing so poorly - he was one of the worst QB's ever to wear the uni - including Jeff George, Jeff Hostetler and Tony Banks. The only difference is - he's got some class and is a nice guy... but I'm looking for wins - not Miss Congeniality. It was Brunell's duty to prepare and respond - he didn't get the job done and his career as a player is over, history, goner, ba-bye. Do I hate him? Hell No! Do I wish he was the QB in Dallas? Hell Yes!
