I don't think it mattrs WHAT Moss does... I honestly just see him as a bonus.
Coles wanted out... it would have cost us huge. Now we get some cap relief (eventually) and if Moss ever does anything in the B&G, i see it as a plus.
... and he is still under contract for a really LOW number this year. We may renegotiate in good faith but we certainly don't have to.
And even if he held out... we'd still have got rid of $5M in cap.

I guess in essence you're right.
But you never know if Coles just needed rest...You need the toe to cut, but you can work it so that you put less pressure to run without sacrificing much speed.
We just have to wait and see, but I always thought Coles was slightly faster...when healthy.

I'm curious where that leaves us Cap Wise. If i'm correct, we're about 600k under right now if coles cost us 9 mil. So that means the Smoot deal isnt going to work unless we drop some players.

Moss is a track Star,yes he's fast. He's not a smash mouth football player. He aviods conntact, and he would rather run 35 yards west to the sideline and look for a hole then risk getting hit going up field.
Gets nervous in traffic .

The toe was a problem from the moment he got here... but not that big of one. The guy still caught 90 balls on that bad toe.
But it isn't EVER going to go away without surgery I wouldn't imagine. We went through the exact same rigamarole with the doctors this year as we did last offesason. i think the Reedskins are worried that not only is rest not helping, but not having the surgery is hurting.
If his toe gets a little worse and Coles loses more speed, he'll just be a tough, gritty, LITTLE receiver who plays with a lot of heart but who may constantly need reassurance of his 'abilities' financially.

I'm really am lost for words on this trade, except Moss is probably healthier than Coles. I wont bad talk Coles cause he is a soldier, But he didnt wont to be a Redskin.....so with no grease...
And the critics and haters like to bash Rambo Ramsey....But who in the heezy will throw the ball to Coles?
Cause Pennington, is literally "off the cuff"

_ is Gibbs' ability to draw something more out of a player. Herm Edwards is a fine coach but Joe Gibbs he is not. If I recall, the knock on Springs when he arrived was that he would miss a chunk of the season but, in fact, he was healthy for the most part and provided a Pro Bowl caliber effort.
It is far too soon to start dismissing Moss as a prima donna whose production relative to Coles will be significantly different.
The essential factor is this: Moss wants to be a Redskin, Coles does not.

Most fans are torn here because Santana is such a fun and likeable player. He really is fun to watch when he is on his game.
Moss is the ideal #2 WR. He has to be the complimentary to a #1 WR.
I suspect that he will do well in Washington. Don't expect him to change what he is.
He is an explosive gamebreaker on offense and on special teams. He's fragile however,. Lacks toughness, will drop balls. Won't go over the middle and won't go all out to catch the football.
Coles is the exact opposite as a player. He can beat you deep. He can outmuscle you for the football. He can block. He can break tackles in the open field. He'll go over the middle and take a beating for your team.
I watched a sunday night game between Baltimore and Washington last year.
Mark Brunell was stinking up the joint. Coles got his head handed to him on like 5 different ocassions. The Ravens were just taking shot after shot at this guy. He kept catching these overthrown and underthrown footballs and getting blasted. He'd get right back up and come back for more.
That's why, He's better than Santana.
In this trade, We gave up a good WR for an even better one.
I wish Santana nothing but the best. But to me, This deal makes way too much sense on so many different levels. You've got Coles locked up long term. Moss wasn't going to be back next year.
The Jets have to get a kick returner now though. They lost Santana's huge skill level on returns.

I have always liked Moss (always on my FFL), I like him even more as a skin. I think we have a decent receiver corps now. As for height, we have McCants which isn't in stone that he's gone, maybe that will be his role (goal line, situations) I thinnk our biggest issue now is that our CB spot.

That (the SirSmizzy post) doesn't advance the argument at all though because we can't pretend it's an objective analysis. Do I think Coles is a better wideout than Moss? Yes. However, no one has the knowledge or foresight to state conclusively that Moss will do this and won't do that and will demand X amount of money. Good coaches, time and time again (for a recent example, see the New England Patriots and a certain supposedly problematic running back they signed last year) have a positive impact on players.

somebody SHOULD start a new thread because i had to scan through 4 pages of outdated posts to get to where the new information was. the trade being officially finalized is new information and warrants its own thread.

when something new is posted in an old thread it goes to the top DCD. The only reason someone might have to go back 4 pages to find the appropriate thread to post in is because we've got 20 or so people posting repetitive posts. I love it how they tweak a topic and repost thinking it's a new topic. I think they are doing it just to see if anyone calls them on it.
We need to keep this thing organized or nobody will know what's going on, people will get tired of clicking on posts just to see that it's something that's already been talked about. People will quit if that continues. That's why we don't like repeat posting.

The only problems that we may encounter with smallish receivers is run blocking.
These two are'nt strenth guys. I hope Bugel will take them under his wing.
