It appears that almost everyone who has an opinion relative to "Freddie" is "Right-on".We seem to all be in agreement that he can take his 15 yd. penalties, his psss-interference calls, and his tackling by the helmet to another team that will pay him what he wants for getting hurt everytime he tackles someone.
His situation hoerver, is typical of what happens in "Free-agency" which is one of the reasons I don't like it. Last year it was Champ, this year it's Smoot. I really can't blame a guy for trying to get as much money as he feels he's worth, but there is also a thing called "Greed" and I think that's what we're looking at here.
Free agency is a double-edged sword, in that in some instances you can help yourself in getting a player who fits in, and on the other hand you end up loosing players you want to keep, but can't afford. There was a time in professional sports when you just loved to hate players on the opposition, but you can't feel that way anymore because the next year they may be playing for you, and as usual "Money" is most likely the overiding factor.
I'm in favor of more Blue-Collar players looking to make a Rep. for themselves, as opposed to the one's with an already established reputation.
We have all been excited about out top draft picks in the last few years, Champ, Smoot, Samuels, LaVar, but we haven't won anything with these guys and now we're about to loose them. Thanks to "Free-Agency" It keeps us Hoping, and Hopping around the league' loosing some and gaining some. Let's hope that Choach Gibbs can be successful in establishing that core group of Redskins who want to be Redskins as opposed to them who just want to get paid. Unfortunately, I don't think "Freddie Boy" will be one of those players.
Hail Redskins!!
