Not only do I agree that he should be in the Hall of Fame, but I am sick and tired of the media being the one who makes these type of decisions. It should be fan based and beyond that, why not let the current HOF members vote. You'd see alot less hypocritcy that way. A man who has earned a spot, is alot less likely to deny a man his if he has earned it.

Art Monk personifies what the NFL says it wants in its players. He personifies sustained excellence on and off the field. He is a quiet but driven man who let his actions speak for themselves and respected the game and his opponents.

If the Hall of Fame stands for Integrity, Excellence, and Respect for the Game then there can be no candidate more deserving than Art Monk. Statistically, he held every important receiving record during his career and was a member of three NFL Superbowl Championship teams. He was a member of the highest scoring offense in NFL history in 1991. He achieved all of this while demonstrating the class and professionalism that the NFL could only dream of getting in one of today's players.

If you wish to single out a player as a role model for today's youth and today's NFL players who aspire to the Hall, you can find no better example than Art Monk.

As quoted (I believe by Joe Theisman) "Art Monk was Jerry Rice before there was a Jerry Rice". Art Monk is without a doubt the best all time receiver the Redskins have ever had and one of the best to ever play the game of football. On top of that, he is a class act and definitely deserves to be inducted into the the Hall of Fame.

Art Monk left the game holding almost all receiving records. He is the epitome of class and deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.

I don't know any player who deserves to be in the Hall of Fame more than Art Monk. The fact that he isn't already is a travesty.

His statistics speak for themselves. So does the quality of his character.

The Press and ALL HOF voters should be line up and slapped silly until they realize that they passed up putting a lead pipe lock of a first ballot HOFamer in Mr. Monks first year eligible and then compounded that travesty by passing on him three more times. The two WR that went in in Monk’s “place” joined almost every other member of the 70s Stealers in the HOF. The funny thing is that their numbers do compare to Monks but are just shy of his. OH, wait I maid a mistake I added Swann and Stallworth’s numbers together. That was their COMBINED number of catches that don’t equal the Art of reception’s numbers. Monk never held down a job on MNF or self promoted. He never had a QB that would be confused with a HOF QB, even though he did have a ton of QBs throwing him passes. Yes every 3 or 4 years he had to adjust to another average QB; no Terry Bradshaw, Jim Kelly, Troy Aikman, Joe Montana, Steve Young, or Dan Marino. If you have a HOF ballot to cast and Monk is not on it you should ask your self is this personal. Did Monk not give you an interview at one time or do you just think you’re making some insane statement about a man that once held 3 NFL records. Here is another simple fact; he has more catches then ANY WR currently in the HOF.

Jerry Rice and Micheal Irvin would not have had the numbers that they have playing in a run first offense with Joe Average at QB. Plus neither one had the likes of Gary Clark and Ricky Sander sucking up passes that would have gone their way. By the way Clark and Sanders had better numbers then those two Stealtown WRs that went in ahead of Monk!

Three superbowls. Held every recieving record at one time or another. Has class. What else does the guy need to do. I guess he shoulda just done some cocaine like Irvin. If Art doesnt get in and Irvin does it's a travesty.
