This makes me wonder about portis' character. He obviously doesn't fit the profile of a core "redskin". I wonder if gibbs thinks he made a bad choice with picking him up? Not saying he's not a great back.

If Portis would have just picked out a new number then this would all be avoided. I know he wore 26 in his first two years in denver, but couldn't he have just used his number 28 from miami or something different.

Wonder if they had a signed contract.

Portis will have to pay if they did, and if the contract isn't deemed illegal. If they just had a verbal agreement, then it's not a valid contract, from my understanding of the Uniform Commercial Code.

Let's see now....after 1 Yr,Portis duribility issues and he is already screwing over teammates.

Wow...thisa guy is 1st class, does anybody know why they are laughing in denver??

The two signed a contract June 4 stipulating that Portis would pay $40,000 for the number, according to Ohalete's attorney, John Steren. Steren said Portis paid $20,000 but did not make two subsequent payments of $10,000 due during the season.

I hope this is resolved, this is tooooooooo stupid.

Written contract? I would say Portis is screwed and has to pay up. Pretty sorry of him to make it have to go to court if that's the case. It's not like the $20,000 is gonna break his bank......he made the bed and now he's lying in it.

As my grandma would say "suck it up sissy", pay your debts!

First.. I don't remember anybody laughing in denver? Their QB giving the fans the finger... and their team hasn't had a decent running back most of the year till Droughns came along...Bailey has been schooled/embrassed many times this year...

and I wouldn't be worried coming from someone whos 4 year old Quarterback is crwying becuz the big bad media hurt his wittle feelwings...

Who's laughing? :hmm: ;)

There have been some weird disputes in pro sports, but this is probably in the top 5 weirdest.

I would like to see the four that come before it.
Probably something to do with "stickum" is number one. :)

Well, now...Smootie was the middleman here, and he's siding with Iffy.
Maybe Portis should just tack this on to his "wardrobe malfunction" (all-burgundy socks)write-off, and pay the man. I mean, how much money can you make in the desert, for cripe's sake ? :)
