I still can't get this nasty taste out of my mouth after watching Grossman out there tonight. What a freaking disaster.

You're right, they may not expect that from Banks, but coaches DO expect that from receivers in general.Red_One43 wrote: If you keep a receiver like Banks, you run routes to his strengths - bubble screens and and deep posts.
Thank you for making my point. If a WR is so small that he can only offer 2 routes such as a bubble screen or a deep post, then said WR doesn't have the very basic versatility of a WR to take up a roster spot.
We are in agreement here. What Banks can do as a WR has to be coupled with what he can do as a return man VS What the other wideouts, battling for the 5th and 6th spots, can do coupled with what they can do as return men.
We are in agreement that Banks has not looked good as a wideout - But I have noticed that you have chosen to critigue things that are given. Don't know if you are listening to the telecast - joey T is talking about the things that I have written about.
Yeah, I think we're overall in agreement.
And no, I haven't heard Joey T. on the telecast. I've been watching the game intermittently on my computer. And yes, I was only addressing BB's obvious size issues which I know are a given. I didn't want to also bring up his poor route running and other issues because I was trying not to pile on the guy. Lol...

I get you on the size issues, but if they were issues, Shanny wouldn't be giving him a chance. That is why I don't mention those. We do agree overall that BB didn't look good tonight.
Now, I have to admit that Robinson has looked very good tonight. If he can return punts, he is on the team for sure.

Any Chance Cousins beats him out for Week 1?
I don't know man. Gotta think that is still a long shot. But seriously, Rex was as bad as ever tonight, wasn't he? I would have thought coming in when he did he would have looked better than usual. ugh.

I thought so too. This offense is designed for a mobile QB. Grossman is a square peg trying to fit into a round hole. The only move he has is to step up. If Cousins, progress well, I say dump Rex and keep giving Cousins the few 2nd team reps. As Rex said, QBs in this O need reps.

I think that Banks was blanketed on that play. He did well to come back for it.
True.
Listen, I hate to be the negative one, because I like Banks, but what we're seeing is that Banks needs a perfectly thrown ball to contribute. They've thrown to him quite a few times now and he hasn't come close to making a play on the ball. He's even had his hands on it a few times and still didn't come down with the ball. At his size, he's not going to out-jump anyone, doesn't have the strength to muscle the ball for a catch when the DB makes a play on the ball and gets knocked down easily when he and the DB are fighting for the catch.
Weve seen some turrable passes from RexGiii... that long pass, could have been 6 if it was deeper, only thing is RexGiii doesnt have deeper
Agreed, that pass by Rex was under-thrown, but Banks was blanketed on that play. And sometimes WR's have to go up for a catch, something Banks can't do. But it's early. I'm still pulling for the kid.
If you watch the replay of that play - Banks was blanketed, but he found the ball and came back for it. He got his hands on it - yes, a stronger receiver might have pulled it down. On that route you are looking to see if Banks knows how to get open on a go route - Banks learned there that his shear speed is not enough to get open, he needs to develop a move to separate even on a go.
he had at least a step or two or four.. put over his head where only he can catch it and its 6. game set point match all a dat!
CKR, I am not seeing him pulling ahead - That DB was right with him. Perhpas a stronger arm would have allowed him to get by, but how the play played out, he was blanketed. Joey T saw it that way as well.
the joey T card??? COME ON NOW MAN!!! lol doode he had him beat and a deeper probably a lot deeper ball was BBs for the taking. had Garcon and hanktime been in he woulda had a better match up. No way in hell is that play a knock on Banks. please provide a clip and we all can judge
Banks is two to four steps ahead, clearly, until he has to slow down to wait for the ball. A decent pass would have brought six points.

That may be, but a more physically gifted (and dare I say better?) receiver would have done a better job fighting for that ball in traffic. To use an extreme example: is there any doubt that Megatron would have come down with it for a huge gain? Yes, it was underthrown, but that shouldn't have been the end of the play.
I was not impressed with Banks tonight. He got plenty of looks and couldn't come up with anything except one route where he burned the defender. Not a good sign.

O line blocking - however Bills O line blocking didn't look good either - that could be one of those D is ahead of the O things.
That can't be right. I mean one of the posters on this board has verified through the expertise of his own two eyes, that when it comes to the Redskins, this NFL FACT doesn't apply to their O-Line. Their O-Line is simply garbage, might as well not even show up for our games this season because our O-line hasn't dominated every practice play, drill and first preseason game, to date!
For every other team, however, defense is always ahead of offense in august.
I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

Another thing that can't be right is our patchwork O line didn't give up a sack - all game (I meant to specifically say "run blocking" was a dislike of the 1st half.) Just wanted add that in there to correct myself
