That's the number i was after. No point cutting Moss for that savings, unless they think he's done...

Safe to say Gaffney is done here? How many receivers does one team need?

Hankerson
Paul
Gaffney
Armstrong
Moss
Royal
Garcon
Morgan
Stallworth

I's have to think Stallworth and Armstrong are gone for sure.

Gaffney was CLUTCH.......last year...!!!

Moss will be gone before Gaffney,Stallworth also. Royal still hasn't signed but if he does, Banks and Austin are gone. Armstrong might make it to camp

As far as Garcon's deal, full guarantees are only $13.1 million not the $21.5 million. Rest are guarantees for injury. Morgan signed a 5 yr deal that voids to two... meaning he'll have to prove he fits.

I don't see how the WR situation affects Banks. He'll be cut or not depending on whether he's our best returner or not. Just like last year.

Both Royal and Banks are special teams guys, with Royal being a threat in the passing game also.

This from the niners web site...

Morgan should come back and the Niners should do everything in their power to oblige. Before his awful injury last season (which was a touchdown grab I might add) Morgan was pushing Crabtree as our best recieving threat either deep or beating the zone. Morgan has the potential to be better than Crabs

Wow. Are the pundits actually praising the Redskins strategic approach to free agency now? Every step taken has built credibility. Wasn't sure about Garcon originally, but I've heard several expert comments saying he is the perfect receiver for the West Coast offense.

Based on the reactions I'm seeing from 9ers fans alone, I'd say we made a good move getting Morgan. They are all pissed about losing him, especially when they see how much money we ended up paying him.

Love you referencing my guy Shane's article. I heard the interview myself. Will make sure to let him know folks on the site are referencing his stuff. He'll be happy.

Can't remember "the Danny" going to Mortons with a free agent that didn't become a Redskins aquisition since "the Danny" brought the team.

Might as well call it a done deal

S Brandon Marriweather to meet with Redskins Wednesday.

frankcal20 wrote:WR - PIERRE GARCON (IND) 5-yr, $42.5M, roughly $21.5M guaranteed

$21.5M guaranteed = $11m signing bonus, $2.1M base salary in 2012, as of today the $5.6M base salary in 2013 is only guaranteed for injury but will be fully guaranteed if he is on the roster three days after the 2013 league year starts.

2012 cap hit = $4.3M, 2013 cap hit $7.8M, $8.8M in dead cap if he's not on the roster in 2013

frankcal20 wrote:WR - JOSH MORGAN (SF) - 5 - yr, up to $12m $7.5m guaranteed

This is really a two year deal based on the reported way it's worded

$7.5M guaranteed = $5.5M to signing bonus, $1.8M base salary in 2012 and $200K roster bonus

2012 cap hit = $3.1M, 2013 cap hit = $5.8M deal voids after two years leaving $3.3M in pro-rated signing bonus allocations.

frankcal20 wrote:DE - ADAM CARRIKER (WAS) 4-yr, $20m, 7 guaranteed

This was the first deal they did after the salary cap robbery so they threw a lot into this one

$7M guaranteed = $3M signing bonus, $700K base salary in 2012, and $300K in workout/roster bonuses. He also has $2M of his $3.7M base salary in 2013 guaranteed for injury only. Carriker has a window to void this contract one week after the Super Bowl by giving back $1M, the window is about ten days

2012 cap hit = $1.75M, 2013 cap hit = $4.75M if he voids the contract after year one the pro-rated signing bonus allocations left would be $2.25M

frankcal20 wrote:WR - Eddie Royal (Den)

Still hasn't signed

Not a bad day and only spent $9M in cap space. Plenty left for the O-line and Secondary, AFTER they re-sign #59

Yeah, why sign OL? It isn't like we will draft a potential franchise QB that we gave up a ton for that we need to protect.

I see what you did there...

Seriously though, I know it's only one day into free agency, but I am totally bummed we aren't even having RT Eric Winston or C Chris Myers for a visit. Those guys were part of the best line in the NFL last season, and Houston uses the ZBS. Bah!

I heard we were interested in Paul McQuistan... which I don't understand. He's bounced around the league. I hope Shanahan's not trying to get too cute.

Yeah, not sure why fans are excited about Brandon Meriweather... sure he was a two time Pro-Bowler, but since then the Pats dumped him and the Bears benched him.

Now if he was healthy, and the same guy from 2008-2010 yeah, sign me up... but two teams gave up on him. Is he really better than Atogwe?
