Leadbelly wrote:Uggh, so what's the forum's opinion on the Skins after wathcing preseason 1. "Optimistic" We really suceeded in the first 3 games and have decided to play possum on offense and defense the last 2 games to lull our competition into a false sense of security.
2. "Logical" We are adapting to a new system and new coaches..we are gonna take our lumps this year, however, every game will be a stepping stone and we will be a good team late in the season.
3. "Call the suicide hotline" Can we look any worse? Against Carolina out defense looked like a JV high school team against a colllege O. Are we really this inept? The only thing we have to look forward to is a early draft pick.

It's really way to early to judge. The Giants last year looked like crap their 1st 2 1/2 games, and they won the Super Bowl. The last two games give reason for concern, but the end of the world is not in sight quite yet.

I agree. I also think Mix is in trouble.

I liked Mix, but he just hasn't performed this year....

I agree. I like Mix as well, I just don't see that many receiver slots on the roster. I also think Frost just sealed his fate. 26 yards.

I missed most of the game, but from what I saw, McMullen won the 6th WR spot (if we keep 6). Mix seems to be 1 of those "good in practice dissappears during games" types. I think he's gone. I also think Fincher & Hamilton clinched roster spots.
Did anyone get a feel for how Crummey & Geisenger handled center? They may be in competition for the last OL slot.

Actually you might be on to something...Listen to the very last question asked of Jim Zorn at the post game press conf. very interesting to see how Zorn reacted...throughout the press conf. Zorn seemed frustrated with his offense then in the last question he got this calm relaxed demeanor as if he had just won 10 in a row, the question was "have we seen all of your offense?" His answer was "you've seen some of the base stuff that I'll call, but you know it's pre-season" his facial expressions told alot, I think we might be in for a treat.

If they can't properly execute the base stuff, how do you expect them to do with more complex plays?

5 weeks of crap games is more than enough to bore these guys heck I'm bored watching this stuff. I'll bet (and I have) that the guys "turn it on" this Thursday. Stay tuned gang.

PUP—physically unable to perform—status is used by clubs to protect a player who is relatively seriously injured but who may recover soon enough to play again that same season. It is similar to major league baseball's 60-day disabled list. Contrast this with injured reserve status, where the player is ineligible for the remainder of the season.

A player who is put on the PUP list before the preseason's first roster cutdown (from 80 to 65 players) must remain inactive through the sixth week of the regular season. At that point, he has a three-week practice "window" before he must either return to the 53-man roster or end his season on injured reserve.
