Man, I wanted Oher but Brian Orakpo is a hell of a prospect. And we needed a DE bad.

In one offseason, we just transformed our defensive line from a weakness into probably the strongest position on the team. Unreal.

Wow. Less than three minutes off the 10-minute clock. They knew what they wanted and got something they needed.

Props to them.

Today. ;)

Agreed. I seriously doubt the Skins thought Orakpo would be there.

And for the record, I wanted an OT too, but Orakpo simply has better value then Oher.

Skins shouldnt have a problem getting pressure on the QB this year.

I like Orakpo. I think most of us here are really really happy, that Snyder didn't mortgage for Sanchez. I woulda liked Oher here, but I'm pretty happy with the DE. Defense is going to be tough this season!

I wonder who will be available tomorrow in the 3rd round? A LB? (DE depending on where Orakpo plays)

wonder if there's a way to get a player trade for 2 picks... (dont want to give up anyone, but OLine still needs to be addressed...)

Hey, a quick question for you guys...

With only five picks in this draft and the next not coming until the 3rd round, #80 overall, I'm wondering if anyone would trade up to get another starter.

With five picks and more than half of them being late rounders, the chances of getting a starter is slim in those late rounds. If you could get 2 starters out of this draft, would you trade up for it? I might consider it.

You can't lose if they can't score. An a good defense can put your offense in a good position.

I've heard on NFL Radio that there are guys later in the draft that may not measure up to the top Tackles but will not have a problem coming in and playing this year if need be in the later rounds.

I like Orakpo. If anything, he will show some of our guys how to use the weightroom.

Not me because they are not guaranteed to be an effective starter. I wouldn't have a problem trading for a proven player if we need to but I want them to be young.

I've also heard there are several OT's that will go in the mid-rounds that could contribute right away. I believe they'll get some o-line help in this draft.

Nobody is arguing that. Orakpo was simply the best value and also fills a need. They'll still get an OT.

We finally addressed the need at defensive end in the draft yay. We should have more turnovers forced from our defense next yeat

now the next question that comes to mind tho... would you trade Orakpo for multiple mid-round picks(to like NE)? I like Orakpo, mind you ;)

I know Orakpo was the top DE prospect, but mine was Everette Brown. Reminds me of Dwight Freeney. hopefully everyone is right and Orakpo is the man for us. we certainly got great value at 13. If we could have traded down for Everette Brown though, I would have loved it.

Not a day for questioning though. Everyone who does this for a living says Orakpo, so surely they know better than me. But if you go watch the tape on the two of them, Brown is the better choice to me. we shall see. HOPE I'M WRONG!

Go Orakpo, go Skins!!

question for my fellow skins fans... how many times do you remember starting a drive inside the opponents 40 yard line? our defense was very good... but as we all know... did not produce turnovers. we were a "bend but don't break" defense. we had ZERO defensive TDs. now we are a BREAK defense!!! break the opponents RB. break the opponents QB. i see lots of short fields and defensive points. makes your offense look ALOT better.

3rd round is usually a good value round. I wouldn't trade up at all.

Rinehart (good prospect, still young) Cooley and Dockery are our most recent 3rd rounders.

Our OL is already improved from last year with the Dockery signing and better luck with injuries this season. We are also in year two of Zorns playbook, and just Zorn himself having a year under his belt. His 2nd half playcalling was just as much an issue as the team play. I think our offense will be better this year(think as good as we were at our best last year) and our defense will dominate. We might be able to take the East this season.

Great pick Danno!
