Yes. Now, is Kelley the answer at running back? Because Jones isn't. [-(

I think we will START to see the answer to that question this week, my guess is Kelly splits pretty even with Matt, and if effecient, may get more than him.

I'd also like to see Mack Brown active for a game and given a chance. I'm guessing he doesn't show in practice too well, but he was a star in those preseason games.... some players just play in game MUCH better then they practice. What's the harm in trying him 1 week

We would have to activate him off the practice squad, which means cutting someone else.

You cannot have playmakers who turn the ball over ... Jones has had this issue and Cousins had it as well ...

we have 3 RBs and they each have a role to play - I'm as worried about Matt Jones as anyone but Gruden & Cousins need this guy

not sure what the game plan is but our offense needs Jones - he has to stop turning it over just like Cousins did

Well, Jones has a knee I jury and Kelley may be getting the nod anyhow

Kirk Cousins is the future of the Redskins. Not saying that. Please hear me again folks. Don't pay the man anything significant where it can cripple the team in signing or retaining good players. Don't wanna hear how he passed for 458 yards when he had two games worth of attempts in the stat sheet and we lost.

We are here last in the division again..yet we are to award a qb that is suppose to take the team to the next level? Things definitely could change, not counting us out but are we really better than we were last year after Kirk has had a full offseason with the starting team?

Why is the Cowboys record better than ours at this time? Playing with a backup qb and without Dez a few games.

So the question is can we put a Super Bowl team around Kirk and still pay him? If so then I really don't have a problem with it but I won't just overpay him and pay him what he wants because he is just the best "available" at the time.

After reading this article, even though not entirely related Kirk came to mind:

Don't the broken hearted former RGIII fanatics ever get tired of dogging Cousins? I'm embarrassed for you.

Kirk Cousins has not been great but he's certainly proven that he can play QB well enough for the FO to make sure he stays in DC

we could end up winning 4 games this season and the FO is still going to sign him to a contract - GUARANTEED - the money is not as big a deal as many (including myself  ) make it out to be - the Redskins FO is NOT giving players, any player, a contract that will inhibit them from signing other players - that is just stupid and this FO is not going down that road

the important thing is that Kirk Cousins will be playing QB with the Redskins in 2017

Only people still talking about our former qb seems to be you. This thread has nothing to do with RG but "Cousins Talk".

I don't know if I can be for sure. Front office still thinks they can find a replacement that can do what he can do per Mike Jones

I don't see any reason at all to be confident in that statement.

Everybody gambled this year on the franchise tag, not just Kirk. I am not confident at all that the team will be willing to pay what its going to cost to keep him here in 2017.

I'm confident that Cousins will continue to prove he's worth keeping and what his market value is

I'm also confident that the FO and Cousins will work out a deal that is good for both the franchise and the player

IF Cousins wants more than he's worth, that's his choice - we are not paying any player more than they're worth

we don't need players that put themselves ahead of the team

That may be. So why would you be confident that Cousins will be here next year?

All starting quarterbacks get paid more than they are worth. You know why? Market value sets their worth. The demand always exceeds the supply.

There's very little chance Cousins is elsewhere next season, especially since the team isn't exactly kicking ass and taking names this year.

If we had gone 12-4 or 11-5 then I'd be worried about another team swooping in. 9-7 or 8-8, not so much.

I doubt the team's final record has any bearing on how other teams view Cousins ability as a QB.

So you don't think another team would sign Cousins because we have a terrible run defense?

It sure as hell has bearing on his market value.

Don't know that I agree with that. I mean at some point record is a reflection of a QB's leadership ability, but it could be the QB is just on a crappy team. There have been many great QBs whose teams never did much in terms of Ws and Ls.

That is not the way I read that article --- at all. I read it more that Mike Jones was giving his "educated opinion" (whatever that means, as a non-front office sports professional) and when called out on it, he cited random anonymous opinions that likely doesn't exist.

There was absolutely NO specific reference to the FO or anyone with management authority within that article, actually. When questioned on it, he literally said "people in the building" --- for all we know, they could be the janitors or team accountants. He didn't specify and if they were FO, I can guarantee you that the response wouldn't have ben "people in the building", but something much more specific without giving actual title. It was pretty clear that he was called out on his BS and, in a piss poor attempt, tried to save face.

I am 100% confident our FO wants to sign Cousins --- only because they would be crazy otherwise. Right now he is either a top 10 QB or close to it. Top 10 QBs don't grow on trees. If the season continues as it currently is for Cousins, he will be a #1 free agent priority for MULTIPLE teams.

Lastly, to show how WORTHLESS Jones' "educated opinions" is ---- he says Cousins is playing like an $18M QB. To show market value, Osweiler apparently "played" like a $18.5M QB last season while accumulating these stats:
8 games: 170-275, 61.8% completion, 1,967 yards, 10 TD, 6 INT, 58.5 QBR, 86.4 rating. His OFF avg. 19 ppg.
vs. Cousins:
8 games: 215-321, 67% completion, 2,454 yards, 12 TD, 7 INT, 65 QBR, 93.1 rating. OFF avg. 23 ppg.

So based on his "educated opinion" --- Osweiler was playing better last year than Cousins is this year......

I don't know very much to anything about Mike Jones, but he sounds like an idiot.

And yet somehow Olivier Vernon played on the 6-10 Miami Dolphins last year, but still managed to sign a ridiculous $85m contract as a free agent that off season.

I'm sure it has "bearing". But the team W/L isn't going to prevent some QB desperate team from looking at him.

For me, this is why it's so mind boggling. Jones isn't a "click baity" type of guy. He's probably the all around best beat reporter (next to Keim) that covers the Skins. I cannot fathom why he would make that claim, or how he even came to that conclusion. If Hopkins makes the kick and our defense stopped Detroit, would this even be a discussion at all?

Knocking Mike Jones is idiotic. Guy is a pro.

He was just on Dukes' show btw.
