and, I think we're better off

I say it all depends on the quality of offers during the draft. He's available, no mistake about it. But considering the 21M payout, Shan-Allen will demand a big return.
Haynesworth's former coach, Schwartz, now the HC in Detroit has already brought in one former Titan, Van den Bosch. Wouldn't surprise me if he swapped the #2 for Skins #4 and added their 2nd rounder (and maybe more) to get Haynesworth. Skins then pick Suh or Okung and add a nice high 2nd round pick for another O-lineman.
Detroit appeases fans by getting top player like Haynesworth but still manages to draft a LT for Stafford. Skins get rid of a locker room cancer who doesn't want to be here and adds a couple pics in the process. I think Suh is undoubtedly THE BEST player in the draft, so if it was possible to get him + some extra picks + rid the team of a problem child, the Skins would be a better team. Just one theory.
That deal doesn't really make sense from our perspective. All that we would be getting out of that is a high 2nd rounder, which isn't worth trading AH for. Yes we would get the 2nd overall pick, but we should be able to get Okung at 4 so there is no real need to trade up two spots.
CS26,
You hit the nail on the head. A swap of first rounders #2 for #4 adds zero value to the Skins. So you give up and elite DT to draft a OL at #2 that you could have got at #4 and you hope the 2nd round player contributes as much as AH.
Trading AH and then selecting a rookie DT (a could be good, but most likely not great) to replace AH is counter productive!

With Mike Shanahan shooting down talk of any Albert Haynesworth trade, it sounds like the first quiet Sunday night since late March.

Calm before the storm. Only way Albert stays is if no other team is willing to give up enough for him.

I agree about the calm BUT the ONLY way Haynesworth is not here is if some other franchise wants to make an incredible trade for him
As many of you know, I was not a fan of bringing in this guy but there's no way that Allen and Shanahan are letting him go EXCEPT if someone wants to make a terrific deal in our favor

I just don't see all of that happening
I do think these guys are trying very hard to get this franchise back on track and I do think they will evaluate what they can get for the players they have but I just don't see the point in giving players away for a lot less in return plus the fact that while you are getting younger players so many of the low round draft picks rarely amount to anything - HOWEVER I am for getting whatever you can for a current player as long as that player does not factor into your plans for the rebuilding of this franchise
I think this franchise still has a long way to go but these guys are not going to hurt the near term prospects for the group they have by giving away parts of the franchise that can help with the rebuilding
Haynesworth will ONLY be traded if this franchise receives a big deal in return - I don't think that another franchise wants to give up all they would have to part with
In a way the
overblown &
exaggerated reports of a potential locker room cancer mean that there is an even better chance we will see AH back in B&G this season

I was watching NFL Access last nite and they were more of the mindset that we're trying to move Big Al. And they were talking mid-rounds (3-4). All I do know is that if he's not on our team, we're going to be the ones losing out. We don't have the talented depth that the Titans did when they moved him.

Especially if we only get a mid-round pick for him. If Brandon Marshall can net 2 second round picks, Albert should be at least in that neighborhood. He is a Top 3 defensive tackle, and Marshall is a Top 3 WR. It would be highway robbery to trade him for a single 3rd or 4th round pick.

It would be highway robbery to trade him for a 3rd AND a 4th round pick. This guy is a PROVEN beast! Nothing less than a 1st and 3rd (each mid to high in their respective rounds) is acceptable. Actually, given the cheap price they'd pay due to our sunk costs in AH, I would want to see a conditional 2nd or 3rd next year, too. Then again, I'm greedy.

But what is Haynesworth's value? You can't look at it from your own perspective. If teams think Haynesworth has burned bridges in Washington, they're not going to offer a 1st round pick. That is what I think is happening right now. Shan-Allen are trying to pretend like they intend to keep AH. This is to regain some leverage. If teams think they intend to keep him, then his trade value goes up.
So Team X calls up during the draft and says, "hey how about a 3rd rounder for AH?" Shan-Allen say, "no, he's the center piece to our defense this year." Team X says "no way, we're hearing he doesn't want to be in Washington and you need to get rid of him, we'll offer a 3rd and a 4th, tops." Shan-Allen - "look, we have other, better offers. Unless you can nock our socks off with an offer, we're not letting our top player go anywhere." YAda Yada.
It all depends on how much teams buy into this BS, and raise their offer. If they get a bidding war going between two or more teams, Shan-Allen will get some good offers.
You also have to ask the question, depsite AH's talent in a 4-3 attacking defense that he truly wants to be a part of, what is his impact on a 3-4/4-3 hybrid where they are going to have him playing two gap at least some of the time? Is he a Pro Bowler even though he complains and gets hurt and doesn't like the system? Because that's what we're getting if we keep Albert. A great player who isn't happy playing here and will not show up 100% of the time. I hope we trade him for good value.

OH, I want to trade him but not for what we can get - the only way that we should let Haynesworth go is if we get a great deal for this franchise
I do not think that he's going anywhere because these guys will not just let him go and that's fine too
this franchise is going to undergo a lot of changes but these guys seem to want to have some success to build on as well and some of the players will be kept because they provide more help by being here than just getting some draft picks that may or may not work out
Haynesworth is not being traded for a draft pick that does not have the potential to offer something of equal value to what Haynesworth is worth to this franchise by staying here
Haynesworth is staying - I think a lot of the BS being reported about him is just that

Appearing on NFL Network's Around the League program Monday, Jason La Canfora reported that a trade of Albert Haynesworth on or before draft weekend is "very likely."

which is interesting in another way - this is the franchise that went after the Redskins for the way that they felt about the process that was used in our acquiring Haynesworth
of course - that was when you know who were managing or mis-managing, this franchise

There is one problem with trading him to Tennessee. We play The TITans this year. Haynesworth could return to the attacking 4-3 that he loves so much and work himself into a frenzy over being screwed by Washington and the 32M they paid him in 14 months.

Of course, there is a 25% chance he would be hurt for that game anyway.

I think that Haynesworth likes what he has been paid so far - actually, IF he is traded I would expect he will have to pay some money back - that might be a bit of an incentive
I would not be worried too much though - if we trade Haynesworth it will be a good deal for the Redskins AND if he stays here it will be a good deal for the Redskins - all in all, everybody's happy

My friend who's a Titans fan hooked me up with a link to their side of teh discussion. Man o man, they've got some people who are higher than a kite.
Titans fans want to give as little as a 4th or 5th
I'm not familiar with Brown with whom they seem to be okay moving, but the majority of these guys are just whack.

MS wants at least a 2nd rounder if the reports that he says aren't true are true.

True. That discussion was extra wack. Why would we trade AH for their defensive tackle who they're willing to deal to get AH back?? LOL

Nicholas J. Cotsonika of the Detroit Free Press thinks if the Lions can get Haynesworth for a third-rounder, that would fill the hole in the middle of the D-line, and they could then take Russell Okung No. 2 overall.
That sounds wonderful... screw us over twice as hard.

I could see us moving out of the #4, giving up Haynesworth and getting someone's two first round picks and a 3rd this year or a 2nd next year. Or I hope!!!

That is funny. And none of them even bring up the dead moose on the table. Let's see, the Skins pay AH 21 mil then turn around and dump him. Shanahan was here when we paid that. I'm not saying at all we're not shopping the guy at some level, but obviously we're not going to dump him and other GM's know that even if their team's clueless fans don't.
I think he's a great player, but with his age and history I don't know how good he's going to be in a couple years and I don't think we're going to be good for at least a couple years. So even if we get less in return I'd entertain the offer, but it would have to be significant or I keep him.

I agree Kaz!
I think we'd like to move him but I'm thinking that these guys are hoping that someone will give them a lot for him - I think that part of the reason they paid the 21mil was to make it easier to trade him BUT I just don't agree with those that seem to think that we want to get whatever we can
I think they would like to move him but they are NOT giving him away

I think we need to keep him and have him work off that 21 mil. 21 sacks, 1 mil per.

SKINFAN - The problem with that is we should have never acquired the guy to begin with. Thankfully, this year being uncapped, it allows a franchise/owner who is known for spending money in the past to clean up their mistakes. Sure it's going to cost money - A LOT but i think that whats very important here for this ownership is to get the fan's back on board. What I'm hearing from a lot of fans is that they don't want a guy here who isn't going to buy in to what we're doing. They are looking for a team - not an individual which we've been focusing on over the years.
I could see us moving up to #2 for our #4 and Haynesworth and pick up their 2nd round pick. We could then pick up Suh or McCoy (either is a stud in my book). We could then pick up an OT in the 2nd or we could go OT in the 1st, and get another OT in the 2nd. That would basically take care of the O-line for the most part this year.
