This is perhaps difficult for Joe, since it symbolizes and end to the "season", and signifies the beginning of "the rebuild".

Joe Gibbs had no other option at this point and it was his own fault by sticking with Brunell too long. He could have saved himself the headache by going to Collins earlier in the season and if we are where we are now with Collins, make the move to Campbell.

I think we all realize there will be growing pains, but hey, at least we've started the process now. Better late than never. And Gibbs didn't just stick with Brunell too long - he refused to make it an open competition in camp. He should never have developed such tunnel vision for Mediocre Mark.

Here's my fear: no patience and tolerance for Campbell and he may be on a short leash. Let's not expect this guy to be Palmer, Brees, or Manning (P) right off the bat and realize that this is his first start.

Also, he has to be smart about what he is doing in this offense and not make the stupid mistakes and use his legs.

Breathe Jason, Breathe.....

Hopefully, Gibbs will give JC the rest of the season. He's GOING to make mistakes (all youngsters do), so Gibbs is going to have to stick by him, have patience, and resist the urge to put Brunell back in there.

Precisely. Mark isn't our biggest problem, but he's certainly not helping us win either. This team simply can't afford to flounder with a 36 y.o. QB. We might as well get JC some experience while the rest of the team adjusts to a new offense. This year is shot anyway.

At the very least we need to know if JC should be our QB going into training camp next year. All I hope for is an answer to that question.

I've been calling for JC since training camp, and I realize he needs to gain experience on the field. I'll never boo him.

Thank god. I'd rather lose all the rest of our games this season with JC than with MB. Good to see the Redskins finally taking some risks (at least in their point of view). I still have low expectations in terms of making the playoffs, but I'm excited to see JC get some real playing time to develop for next year. I'm kind of thinking he might have an Eli-esque effort in his "first" season, but hopefully he will grow into our franchise guy.

I agree Redeemedskin. It's not just the bench he's being shown, but the end of his career as an NFL starter.

And I agree with an earlier post - Please let Jason be the real deal! We need a solid QB for the next ten years.

Are you kidding???? Brunell has been through this once already here in Washington, and he handled it with class. If you expect anything diferent now, you need to go back and listen to all the Brunell pressers throughout the season. The man oozes class, even if his skills may have eroded.

I am behind the kid and if he turns out to be a bust then they got that wrong too just like everything else they've gotten wrong over the past couple of years. So there is no need to call for anybody's head. That call has been already made by quite a few folks on this board so there is no need for me to call it....

I couldnt wait till this day, but now that I think back to last year, Brunell played well last year and took us into the playoffs and I feel kinda bummed out.

I feel bad for Brunell but I hope JC does really well. I just hope they let him play and open things up instead of just handing the ball off 40 times a game trying to protect him (like Marty did with Rivers initially).

Every indication from Gibbs was that Brunell was very disapointed but Gibbs expects him to be available if needed.

I think that Bledsoe is not a "positive" for Romo BUT I also think that Brunell is going to be very helpful to Campbell. I think that Brunell as a back-up makes this group of QBs very strong.

Now we can watch the Cambell era begin!

Hopefully, he can build a relationship like he did with Patrick Ramsey. That was a great time for both QBs, and I hope they can work the same way for Jason.

I kind of feel for Mark, you hate to see a guy go out like this (against his will) but sadly, it's how it seems to go for most atheletes.

I hope we can find a job for Mark if he wants one... or maybe he can go coach Washington in a few years, lol.

I don't expect Campbell to help us win many more games than Mark would have, but I expect him to be a quick study, and build for next season.

This is very exciting news.

I also agree however that's NOT what happen when Mark was replaced by Letfiwich, Gibbs said Mark and Todd both disagreed with the switch but I think they'll give Jason all the help he asks for
