BEST CELEBRATION OF THE YEAR, IMO. It was creative and not offensive to the opposition. As far as celebrations go, this was a classy/comedic combination that will not be topped.

I soooo disagree with you on this one. His celebration albeit amusing wasn't exactly halarious nor original. Chad Johnson is by far the best and he doesn't offend anyone either. He's a non offensive TO he keeps it all in good fun.

I don't care who came up with it first. All I see is CP being CP...and he looks loose.
I can get behind that 10000%

I never saw Chads performance with the CPR Ball, I was moreso reffering to his entire years worth of antics. I dont want CP to be like Chad and maybe CP's CPR was better than Chads, I just think that Chad is in a whole other realm of celebration perfomances. My 2 cents

yeah chad is different in TD celebrations... and CP is different in off the field antics (costumes)... but both are great at what they do.

Here's a bigger pic of Coach Janky Spanky, who thinks he'd do a better job that Gregg Williams, since he took his Boys & Girls Club team to the championship:

Good read on Portis and his characters Here at SI.com

Clinton the character
Portis is a blast to watch -- on and off the field

Deadspin.com has a lot of the monologue too.

That was the dumbest most pointless crap I ever read!

The Washington Redskins don't exactly light my fire. Their coach is old school, their offense is defensive and even their uniforms look as old as the franchise, like they were found in an old equipment closet or something. Spending a Saturday afternoon watching the 'Skins tally a historic 120 yards (the lowest total for a winning team in NFL postseason history) left me stunned, sporting the same slack-jawed expression that Tom Coughlin flashes whenever Eli Manning gets picked (which is more often than you might think).

Why not change the channel and move on to something more exciting? After all, a figure skating replay was airing over on the Deuce and there was a cooking show marathon on PBS?

The only reason to watch is cuz of CP's antics? All he did was start out dogg'n us every way possible... man i hate SI!!!!!!!!

Dont know where it's going but I refuse to read on.

Well, it got better.

For the last two seasons, I've watched Eli Manning move to Manhattan and be praised by Giants fans, but I've never heard him say anything remotely interesting or thought-provoking.

..and

Saturday, as the tough Tampa defense held Portis to 53 yards on 16 carries, I stayed glued to the tube, rooting for my new favorite NFL player and his team. I then flipped over to the postgame interviews, hoping against hope that Portis would debut a new character. Mark Brunell came out looking like a corporate middle manager, and coach Joe Gibbs' NASCAR history wasn't far below the surface.

Portis came out in a brown shirt, oversized Jackie-O style sunglasses and a brown beret, perched atop his head at a jaunty angle. He wasn't Southeast Jerome, but at least he was himself.

And that's something I'm always a fan of.

Oh, and SI.com has it's up and downs, just like most sports website. Every now and then, they say some good things like:

WHAT I SAW: The Redskins beat Tampa Bay on an amazing set of miscues and turnovers that led to points, plus late game Buccaneer foul-ups and just plain courage. While people were moaning about the death of the Skins' offense, they failed to give enough credit to the heroic job their defense was doing. There were just too many good players on that side of the ball, guys who could not be handled.

Portis not in Costume?

Post by redskinsrule54 »

I heard somewhere that Portis' interview will not be in costume. They leave tomorrow so i guess he might now want to do it on Wensdays. No costume this week is the word!

Sad, but maybe he wants to cut down on the distractions around the team.

Yeah, it's a normal interview but the more I see Clinton and listen to him, the more I realize -- he's a team guy all the way. He is, without a doubt, a Gibbs guy. He gives credit to Sellers, Ladell, Rock, and his O Line today and is very unassuming.

He may not be the most articulate person but it's clear he's smart. While some people can make interviews look easy - they are NOT...really. The process of listening to the question, digesting the question, assembling your thoughts and then speaking clearly is not an easy thing to do. I can say -- it takes intellegence to do that and I think he does an outstanding job with it...watch the video on redskins.com and see what you think. Plus, he's very witty.

The more I hear him, the more I see him play, the more I like this guy. I was always a Riggins fan but Clinton is approaching Riggo status, in my book.

I'm not ready to call Portis "Riggo", just yet.
He's got his own category, to be sure.
If he can be Riggo on Saturday, it'll get him that much closer. It's a high bar. I'm not being disrespectful to CP, I'm just saying...
