A couple of thoughts from my perspective:
Chris Horton, like everyone else is saying, had a good game. He reminds me more of a linebacker than a safety.
1st team Offense--3 and out but the
out was to Randle El for a touchdown
Secondary struggled but we were missing a lot of starters. I think it will be a different story with Taylor and Carter rushing the passer and having Landry in the open field.
Brennan throws a nice ball; very accurate and moves good on his feet. I know its the first game, but he seems to be more than a "system quarterback."
O-line had some nice run blocking, but the pass protection worried me. I really don't like seeing Campbell get hit. Jansen needs to knock off the rust (I hope that is all he needs to do).
Overall, a very nice start to the Zorn era. Nice little confidence builder for the entire team and a great finishing touch to the Green/Monk induction to the HOF.

Overall, I'd say this was a huge boost for the team.....hail Redskins! And a nice way to send our boys into the Hall of Fame.
I wouldn't be critical of the defense since most of the starters weren't playing, and I think the offenses have the advantage in those situations. And they gave up only 1 TD. So that;s a plus.
But the offense....wow. The passing game was surprising for the first game. That deserves a big hats off to Zorn for getting those guys in sync so quickly...no small feat...and is VERY encouraging.
As for Brennan....ya gotta love this kid. (may I just remind some folks here about what I said just after the draft....that Brennan could be the big steal of the draft).
There's just something about this kid that says "winner". So many talked about the quality of competition he played against in Hawaii, but he put up some awefully impressive stats that tells me he's one of those sleepers. Reminds me of Stan Humphries for some reason.
Campbell had better turn it up a notch this year or next year he might be fighting this kid for his job.

I said it before , I will say it again. Colt Brennan will be the QB to win the Super Bowl for our team again. Mark my words guys. It will happen within the next ten years.
Did you see how Jim Zorn is real chummy with him? Also Brennan is right by coach Zorns side. Also Zorns offensive scheme looks very sharp. I am feeling good baby. Yes I know its only the pre season but I seen alot of good things out there.
Also Horton and the other rookie number 40 looked real good too.
I hope Brennan isn't the QB to win a SB for the Skins, because if he is, it' means Campbell flopped for us.
I knew you'd post about our beloved felon, and I really liked what I saw from Colt, but you're really pressing when you pull anything more from this performance than him beating up the 3rd and 4th string Colts defenders in the first of 5 preseason games.
Anyone remember Danny Wuerffle in Spurrier's first preseason game? 16-25, 267 yards and 3 TDs in the second half. He looked great.
Just think, Brennan may be the second coming of Danny Wuerffle.

Hello, all. Colts fan here. Just wanted to say that was a pretty decent preseason game. I get nervous when the Colts win in the preseason, so I'm glad the Skins won. Especially with Monk and Green picking up gold jackets this weekend. It would have been all kinds of bad juju for us in Indy to mess with that.
And I've gotta say, that Colt Brennen is something else. It was fun to watch that kid play.
Have a great season!

Brennan throws a pretty pass, with touch and accuracy. Heard

ey say that Brennan throws the most catchable balls from all qb's during camp.
2 draft picks.... 1 home grown in Cali....1 played in So. Cal..
Makes a Cali boy like me very proud....
Hail Redskins!

Here is an observation I noticed Sunday. When Randel El scored the TD, the team went nuts. It was like they all were shocked. "What, we just kicked someones butt???" Thats what I thought. And also the fact that all the credit for the TD was given to Santana Moss. JC and ARE both said that the TD happened b/c Moss ran a perfect route and it pulled all their players twards him and opened it up for ARE.
I love guys who even in their success, they find a way to help someone else. I don't know enough to truly understand defenses but I will agree with them b/c thats what looks like what happened.
Good job guys....Keep it going.

After one game???? lmaoooo all u idiots just believe anything u see at first...this guy is not proven yet...clowns like u are the ones saying todd collins should be our starter this year....he played against a week colts defence hell even j-camp went 5-5 and a TD....and all u talk about is colt brennan/??? .j-camp is gonna be a great QB and he is the future of the skins....j-camp would lose his confidence if they keep bringing this kid up to challenge him. Build up j-camp and lets see what he has in tank.

Maybe you have not read the rules but we don't really go around attacking the posters and calling people names regardless of how silly it sounds.
To dispute your post, I don't see JZ whispering sweet nothings to JC. He is being tough on him. He has high expectations for him. As for all the Brennan love, its nice to see a kid come in that had so much scrutiny agains him, system qb, hip problem, legal trouble, that it was nice to see the kid come out today and have success. I think we are all very happy to see how the 1st team offense came in and scored in 3 plays. Even though we had awesome field position, they did something they did not do last year and that was throw a TD pass early. Rock also did a great job running the ball too. And also, the stats were pretty even across the board.
Colt Brennan just is the one player who was in the game for his own 1/2. So there are more things to see success or failure and I didn't see any failure there last night.
Now there is plenty of time for him to blow it but for now, he is doing good and we all hope he can keep it up.
As for JC's moral, I'm sure he is just fine b/c he knows that he played well and is our QB.

Anyone notice Reed Doughty getting torched? Whiffing tackles, failing in coverage?

I saw him miss 1 tackle where the RB cut back on a dime but that was it. I did not see him miss a pass play. What I saw was him come up from his position and make several tackles to help a LB core that was essentially our 2nd team with the exception of Marcus Wash. I think that he will definatly have something to work on this week in prep. of next weeks game but he didn't do as bad as you are claiming. I feel that Smoot could have had a better game even with the ALMOST interception.

I highly doubt JC has any fear of Brennan challenging him for his job. I am no expert on the matter, but JC seemed to be more controlled and concise with his movements and decision making; and for that matter, JC looks the best (body wise and decision making) he ever has in his whole career. He seemed very fluid and you can just tell how quick he is making his reads and getting rid of the ball. I hope he continues to impress and make progress. The early synopsis on the Zornholio effect is that it seems to have Campbell becoming a force to be reckoned with.

I'm not saying bench JC, but Brennan did look sharp. Also, it's true that Brennan was playing against reserves, but he was also playing WITH reserves, so that SHOULD even out the playing field just a bit for you naysayers. I would think that the skins fans would be excited if we have a gunner in reserves like Brennan looked for that game. I wouldn't bet on COllins being there more than two more years, tops, so we need someone who can come in for a long stretch, b/c I'm not sold on Collins in the long term. I see it as the same way with Collins, Brunell, and JC. Collins comes in for an injury, but if JC goes down for a longer period of time, I want Brennan (if he performs consistantly as he did last nite).

I'm not sold on Colllins -- outside his Saunders comfort zone. That was a big ace up his sleeve.
I liked what I saw from Colt. Still hatin' on every cornerback not named Springs, Smoot or Rogers.
Moreso, I liked what I DIDN'T see -- no overall sense of disjointedness because of a new coach and, most importantly, no injuries although Heyer gave us a big worry moment.

Both Campbell and Brennen looked absolutely great. Devine kind of got the shaft because he came in when Zorn was in a run mode. I hope he gets a chance to show his stuff. Collins did a good job regardless of what some may think. Mason had an outstanding game. Cartright should take note.
The one thing that I noticed was the exuberance of the Redskins players. They seemed to be actually enjoying the game. Not just one player but the entire team. I don't remember that type of team reaction before. It was great to see it. Maybe it was just becasue it was the HoF game but it was great to see players celebrating, laughing and seemingly having a good time.
It was a great game but only the first of the pre-season.

I thought Leigh Torrance had a good game. He made soime good tackles and broke up at least one pass I'm remembering. He seemed to always have a hand reaching for the ball when he hit the receiver to try and break up the play or knock the ball loose while still making the stop.

Positives I seen from the game:
Quarterbacks were real accurate and mostly quick with their reads. The coverage of the Colts sucked so I wouldn't put too much emphasis on how great someone played as most guys were wide open.
Our rb's played really well. I think Cartwright was dancing a bit too much trying to get a big one but he was outplayed a touch by Marcus Mason. Would like to see them reverse roles next game. Advantage Mason. Still looking for a nice piledriving fullback, Broughton probably isn't the answer. He's a rb.
I think our receiver corps depth have improved even without Kelly, #19, and Thomas. Maurice Mann looks quick and runs a good route. McMullen wasn't that bad either. Fred Davis should be a nice guy to put in as an option as well.
Offensive Line. Will be okay if they keep making passing lanes for our qb's like they did this game (can't judge yet without good competition)
Rob Jackson looks good, Horton as well.

Ok maybe I am jumping the gun a bit.
This being the third or fourth system that Jason Campbell has seen so far. I think think its difficult for any QB to thrive under such circumstances.
Luckily Jim Zorn seems to be really good with QBs. His offensive package is like an injection of new school compared to what we have seen the past few years. Jim Zorn looks confident out there. All though it was just a pre season game I am feeling really good about this team.
I support Jason Campbell. I just have a feeling about Colt. So we will just have to wait and see what unfolds.
