Check me on the critique of your OL.

Let's say Kory has to go to IR and this is what you enter the season with.

1. LeRibeus backs up Monty and Hurt - that's great

2. If Polumbus gets hurt, LeRibeus goes to guard. Hurt goes to RT - To olittle experience for hurt at RT - a liability

3. If Trent gets hurt. Polumbus goes to LT, Hurt goes to RT and LeRibeus goes to guard. This better not happen early in the season.

Summary - I am thinking you have to have another true tackle on your 53 and carry 8 going into the season. What do you think?

Do we really keep all 4 RBs? Hightower seems like a lock for his blocking if nothing else, and Morris may've played his way onto the roster, but both Helu and Royster?

That's a good question. I can't see him putting any of these guys on the street for nothing in return. Shanny has been known to trade backs who have had good seasons for him. It would be hard to trade Helu because he has been injured. Not sure Shanny wants to give up what he can't teach - speed. Now Royster? What he lacks in the power that Morris has he makes up in wiggle, but he hasn't shown that he can stay healthy. Hurt shoulder in the Philly game last year. Sore knee before the season this year. He seems like the likely candidate, but it seems that Helu has more trade value.

I am not predicting a trade, but Shanny does have the history - even has traded 1,000 yard backs.

Your guess is as good as mine. What do you think Shanny should do?

You are not predicting but you would not have mentioned it if you did not feel that it was possible or even desirable to make a trade from a position of strength to a position of weakness.

My guess is as good as yours but I would not be surprised if one of our RBs leaves in a trade for a good OL.

Shanny should only make a trade if there is value in it. He is a pretty shrewd negotiator. Otherwise, keep 4 RBs.

Yes, by me mentioning Shanny's history, I know that it is possible. It is desirable? I am thinking the same as you, if we can get a good tackle - say that guy that folks talked about with the Raiders, yeah, I would toss in one of our backs to make sure we get him, but I ould not overpay.

Definitely agree that there has to be value in it and you know that Shanny has made good trades here - Tim Hightower, Jabar Gafney.

I was listening to Kevin Sheehan's show this morning on espn980. Really surprised by how convinced those guys are that ey is not going to make the final 53. Their argument was based on what they've seen in training camp, pre-season games, etc; that ey's knee just isn't sound, and he's not going to make the team.

I still find that really hard to believe but I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Hmmm I don't know really. Don't they work for the radio station owned by Dan Snyder? I kind of figure they know as much as the average message board poster at least - though I agree some of the guys on this website know their stuff!

I'd like to take a moment to start with the "how many at each position" way of looking at things overall.

If we think of a standard 5 OL, 1 QB, 2 WR, 2 RB, 1 TE set and put a backup everywhere we have 22 on offense.

If we think the same way on defense we end up with -

OFFENSE (22)

OL 10
QB 2
WR 4
RB 4
TE 2

DEFENSE (22)

DL 6
LB 8
DB 8

Now add 2 kickers and a snapper and you have 47.

Now the adjustments. We are ultimately allowed to keep 6 more guys.

We add a QB for 3. 48 now.

We add 2 WR for 6. 50 now.

We add 1 TE for 3. 51 now.

We add Banks as a returner - R. 52 now.

We add ey as a FLEX.

I'd be willing take 10 OL down to 9 to bolster another grouping - WR. I do not want to go forward with 7 OL. Bad idea. Paulsen can even swing to tackle in a pinch and we know ey can play FB.

I believe Briscoe & Robinson make it
Brandon banks is a hit or miss type of guy
But I wouldn't mind seeing him on the roster just not over those 2 wideouts..RB decision is too tough for me to judge

Looking at last year, Shanny kept 6 receivers active and Banks active for every game. The 7th receiver was inactive.

In light of the ey and Gano cuts, is Moss really the lock that we think that he is?

Moss. A lot of folks, including myself, saw Moss returning punts as a sign that Banks' days as Skin might be coming to a close. BUUUT, who asked who to return punts. Moss said that he asked.

Yea im excited to see what the final 53 will look like. So far the release of cooley and bringing in Cundiff not really what im looking for but on the trade thing its hard to say what went on between cooley and mike. Ive always been big on good 0-linemen however,
