I bet you he told himself to come out on fire for the offseason workouts as soon as we signed so many receivers. Good for him!
Agreed. I think that Santana could see that there was a good chance of him not being on this team this year. Who stays ... Who goes? He stays.
It's amazing what a bit of competition can bring out of a 'safe' player isn't it...
That's why the return of Jenkins should see us get more out of Bowen, Carricker and even Cofield. The form of Helu and Royster at the end of last season will get the best out of Hightower this time around. The signing of Goff and Robinson will keep Fletcher and Riley on their toes. Wilson and Hall have an army of CBs to hold off. A fit

Doesn't seeing all this happen make you realise just how threadbare we were last season?!?
I think 5-11 was disappointing obviously but to be as competitive as we were in almost all of those games was an achievement with the injuries we had, the rookies that stepped up and a couple of imposters at QB.
We're much stronger. Question is, how much have the other 3 in the division improved, if at all....???

Das my preference.. Hankerson, he can go clean some cleats or helmets.
Hank as #4 in some 4-wide sets? I feel like we have a bunch of #2 WRs and that that's a good thing.
Who's next in line for a 5-wide set?

Banks.
Has to be. Setsup wild cat, the reverse, screens, and more importantly the deep ball.
Although his hands are small, he CAN catch. If the other three can draw the safties, or rgiii can freeze one w a pump fake, little BB is gone and rgiii has the canon to hit him deep.
At least on Madden it works. I killed it with Hanktime miner one moss in the slot triple A and BB as the fourth. Drew some crossing routes up that BB would always get open on too.
Of course I won three straight super bowls w Becksy but don't mind that part lmao

I simply can't understand the enthusiasm for Morgan. His stats are mediocre at best and he's injury prone. There's a reason we got him so cheap. He might be the second coming; but chances are he'll be on the bench much of the season, injured or not. He's just not that good.

I would guess this is the reason he is here at a bargain, if he plays up to par.

“I’m very, very close [to 100 percent],” Morgan said after the Redskins‘ second day of mandatory minicamp. “I just got to get my explosion back. The pain is gone. Everything else is healed.”
He has to get on the field first, though. Morgan was limited in all of the spring practices. Not only does he lack explosion, he said he has lost five inches off his vertical jump.
I have some problems putting Banks, with 3 receptions to his name, ahead of a healthy Morgan wrt wr's on this team.
Banks is quick, but is small and seems to be slightly built.....just seems to go down fairly easily after a hit....or a bump....because of that. Also, sometimes he appeared to be so anxious to make a play that he would return punts and kicks that he probably should have downed.
Banks may have a difficult time making the team unless he can do more than just return kicks.
I see moss and garcon as the featured wr's to start....with hankerson, morgan, armstrong behind them. Hopefully hankerson and morgan are recovered fm their injuries by training camp.
To be honest, i am far more concerned with our secondary than our wr's at this point......

Just read a washington times article on secondary coach Morris, at the end was a few paragraphs concerning Banks and thevfact that Shanahan expects him to do more than just return kicks if he is going to make the team.

Good to hear he's taking the challenge to step it up head on... Gaining ten pounds is a pretty big.plus, Im almost his exact size and can vouch it ain't easy to do. Especially if u can't use the top shelf supplements at.max muscle.

Don’t be surprised if Aldrick Robinson is a surprise player. Or something like that. With no offseason program to prepare last year, Robinson looked overwhelmed in training camp. He was so unsure of himself that his speed never was on display. That changed this year and Robinson has a good shot at making the roster and contributing.
Here are my latest who are staying (My only change is dropping from 7 to 6 with Lewis going to the practice squad).
Pierre Garçon
Joshua Morgan
Leonard Hankerson
Santana Moss
Brandon Banks
Aldrick Robinson
Lance Lewis - PS
Anthony Armstrong - needs show that 2010 form to make it. Too early for me to call who he would replace if he shows that form.

Before I went to Ashburn, I thought Moss was a guy whose spot on the team still wasn't 100 percent secure and who, if he did make the team, would have to play the slot receiver position in order to get reps. After a couple of days around the team and talking to coaches, I came away believing they have the slimmed-down Moss projected as the starting wide receiver opposite Pierre Garcon, and that while they might use him in the slot, he retains a chance to be the Redskins' No. 1 wide receiver in 2012.

That formation gets our best blocking WRs on the field with a two TE set, but it gives you two legit deep threats at WR, two great pass catching TEs and a RB that caught 49 passes last year (14 in one game). So even though the players on the field would suggest run, the D has to play pass too, because there are 5 credible recievers on the field.

... and all fast ... well, maybe not

We can also field strong 4 and 5 wide sets.
I am on the verge of predicting Banks inactive for game 1.

Banks, if healthy, 100% will not be inactive for game 1. He will either be returning kicks, punts, and catching the occasional pass OR he won't be on the team. No way he is inactive!

At this point I put Aldrick Robinson on the team ahead of Banks and Armstrong.
Garcon
Moss
Hankerson
Morgan
Robinson
Those are my five. Robinson should be able to handle kick and punt returns, eliminating the need for Banks. Armstrong is fast and is a good deep threat, but I just don't see where he would fit at this point.

DM, sounds like Rich Tandler read your post about Banks.
I am going to go with last year's rules on Banks - until we get someone that can be as explosive as Banks on returns or Banks catches fumbilitis, he will be on the team and be active all games. Shanny likes the guy and will continue to be creative in using him from scrimmage.

I’m rolling out my 53-man roster prediction position by position starting today. Although I reserve the right to change my mind, I don’t have Brandon Banks on it. I just don’t think that he can contribute as an NFL wide receiver at his size. Be warned, I have been wrong about Banks before.
