Yes but is 70 seconds unreasonable? Even I could do 600 yards of wind sprints right now . . . provided that I wasn't timed.

Heh exactly. That's the rub; everyone else on the team ran it untimed.
This is kind of funny. Two reporters trying it; one failed, one did it. That being said, the guy who passed it certainly isn't the size of Haynesworth (4000 pounds).
Neither is he a "professional" athelete.

Curious - where does it say that he passed the same test? The 57 seconds referred to a 3 legged 300 which is quite a lot different than the 25 yard shuttles that Haynesworth is running.

He didn't... but I notice that you don't address my comment in the previous paragraph.
There this false "why didn't anybody else have to do this?" sentiment.
What's with that?

Here's an article by Gregg Doyel and our defensive lineman
http://www.cbssports.com/columns/story/ ... ist_footer
I was kind of hoping that Haynesworth was going to show everyone up by coming in to camp in great shape and ready to be able to play a full season of awsome defense - ain't happening, is it?

I don't think there's a false dichotomy. I think running the thing versus running it timed is a huge difference, because no one else DID have to run it timed. Yes, I know it's punishment for missing the OTAs, but at the same time, who knows if anyone else would have to run it timed?
All we know is Fat Al is the
only one, of any position, who has run it timed.

AND we know that he did not "pass' the test that he knew he would be getting when he showed up for training camp
AND we know that he looks like he's in shape from the photos BUT he had also intimated that he would be in better shape by not participating in the Redskins programs
Fat Al is a very disapointing part of our path back to respectability but I sure hope he gets it soon so we can use his fat ass and then get something for it

Overall I agree with all of this. Though I always do wonder how a 300 yard run, split by 25 yard shuttles, has any relevance to what a defensive lineman does in reality. I mean...you can't even run 300 yards on a football field (well, I guess in theory you COULD)...

I understand your point and I agree - I would venture that this is more of a "reward" for the way that Al has behaved the past 6 months PLUS I'm sure that the test was "selected" very carefully
Haynesworth is going to get through this but it was never intended to be "automatic' IMHO

You train like you fight. If he's expected to burst 3-5 to even 10 yards, why is he doing suicides at 25yd increments? It's like training a marathon runner exclusively with 40yd sprints. Ludicrious.
And pointed out numerous times, he's the only one that has to run it timed. I don't care who says what (as already quoted), until they DO the damn thing, they don't know what they're talking about. I could say I can run Olympic speed, but until I DO THE DAMN THING, I'm talkin out of my ass.
If Shanahan wants to prove to Haynesworth about how much worse shape he's in complared to the other lineman, then he needs to put them on an even keel. Shanahan's point is made, and just b/c the majority is clouded by their hatred of big Al, they can't see the ludicrious situation going on here.
Shanahan is keeping the soap opera going with this, and every time he fails the exclusive test, then I'll lose repsect for him. Does that matter to anyone else but me? No.

I would like to point out that I passed the same test this weekend. I had some friends over for a BBQ and after a few beers, we decided to go to the park by my house and 2-3 of us passed. We did the timed and distance just like as Skins Park. Oh, btw - I have a torn acl, getting microfiber surgery on Wednesday and I haven't done anything but play golf for over a year. Albert's either just lazy or out of shape.

I will point out that I'm extremely sore though and feel like all my muscles in my legs are torn.

Nobody "hates" Albert. For myself, I simply see this as Shanahan being consistent with his application of his clearly stated rules. We all want Albert on the field... but there is no reason for Shanahan to make an exception for Albert, either. Yes... an exception... which seems to be what some are advocating.
Albert is the only Redskin required to take this test... who's fault is that???
Shanahan set the policy (attend at least 50% of conditioning sessions) or take the conditioning test. Several players were warned that they were at risk during the off season... and decided to attend more faithfully... otherwise, Albert would have had company.
Albert was well informed, according to Ray Allen... he knew what he was up against... and made his choice. Shanahan did not do that for him.

I'm kind of surprised that some want this to be over with and let's get on with getting ready for 9/12 and the Cowboys
I want this to be as humiliating as possible for this fat piece of you know what
1 he has not treated his HC with any respect
2 he has been paid a lot of money and not given a lot of effort in his performance so far
3 he said he would be better off by training and getting into football shape by himself
4 he (& the other members of the team) were warned what the repurcussions would be
are you kidding me - if that's what you consider "talking out of your ass" then, that's what this is - just a great big Fat Al fart
IMHO - Shanahan is doing a great job in handling this POS

<sigh> detractors... is that a better word. or maybe "people who don't support Haynesworth at all". I could go in to sickening detail, but I thoght the intelligent base here could understand the gist.
You know what? It's not worth it. There's so much emotion here that it's damn near impossible to have a critical thought without being chastised. Enjoy your lynch mob.

Folks want Albert to be treated fairly... in my opinion, he is.
Folks know that this team is better WITH an effective Albert on the field.
Who HONESTLY believes that the huffing an puffing and playing for recovery time Albert that we saw on the field last year was, indeed, the most effective Albert that we could have had? How many times was he wallowing like a beached whale in the 4th quarter, when we REALLY needed some inside pressure, last year?
Who HONESTLY believes that, if he mans up and completes this test, that this years version of Albert WON'T be a whole lot better?

It's CT. He really IS a curmudgeon
One thing that would be
awesome is if Haynesworth really ends up hurting his knee in what essentially is a stupid fitness test, either damaging him for the regular season, or wrecking it bad enough that he's out for the season. Then everyone but Haynesworth loses (because after all, he still got $40 million the past 2 years to essentially play 3/4 of 1 season).

Uh oh CT:
Albert Haynesworth eventually may be permitted to practice with the Redskins even if he does not pass his conditioning test, Coach Mike Shanahan said Monday after the morning practice session at Redskins Park.

Passing a test is one thing. Doing the test while your injured is another. He needs to rest his knee if he is hurt. Try the test again after the knee is ok and cleared through the doctors.

Lynch mob? You really think CT's stance is equivalent to a lynch mob? I've read through the entire thread, and Trey has seemed to be one of the more reasoned voices on the issue. Shanahan can't go back on it now or he will lose all credibility with the rest of the team. Haynesworth made his own bed, now he has to lie in it.

UPDATE:
I have a heart!!! I reran it tonight and did it in 69 and 73...Per my son and his Iphone, I did it in 69.5 and 72.5!! I am officially ready for a 21 million bonus check and a roster spot on my favorite team, the SKINS!!!
When I heard Cody did it, I knew I had to pass on my second try. That guy is not in shape. He has a belly that knocks on his knees!

Cody didn't run the same test
at all.
Here's the one Cody took:
Cody, a 350-pounder out of Alabama, twice failed the test Tuesday. The drill consists of running 25 yards, doubling back, resting for 70 seconds and repeating it twice.
1. Untimed (Except for the rest period)
2. 50 yards total each run; 25 there, 25 back. Rest. Run it again. Rest. Run it again.
Far different than 300 yards, cut up in 25 yard shuttles. Then rest. Then run 300 yards in 25 yard shuttles again. Oh and timed.

They did the test on Mike & Mike and Golic passed. Watch the video and you'll see it's not that hard. Albert's been practicing for it too.

A god damned woman reporter from Yahoo came 3 seconds away from doing it. Albert is NOT in shape, and thank GOD Shanny didn't put him out there to practice or the guy would have torn something.
