Yes, this is very important. Different leaders have different styles. Different styles are called for in different circumstances.VetSkinsFan wrote:There is definitely more than one leadership style.
A great leader in some circumstances may not be the right fit in others. But a great leader in ALL circumstances starts setting a standard with his CONDUCT more so than his WORDS.
Actions speak louder than words. I am not denying the role of verbal communication and language, I just feel that non-verbal language set by example is even more important.
A leader always does more than anybody else.
A leader never asks somebody to do something that he does not or is not willing to do.
There are very effective quiet leaders. They are so effective that when they speak, everybody listens!!!
Anybody remember the quiet man, Art Monk???
<<<<--------------------
or Joe Gibbs??? He always took responsibility for all things that went wrong and never for the ones that went right.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

After the game, some of the first words from Campbell was "there were two dropped TD passes". That, to me demonstrates a lack of leadership.
If he wanted to say anything, he should have said ... I know we had a couple of drops today that hurt us, but, I MISSED several passes out there too, and I NEED TO DO BETTER. That one to Mike .. I put a lot on that ball, and I probably could have made that one a little easier to catch. I'm the leader of this offense, and if we don't score, the blame has to start with me. It's my responsibility to lead this team, and score points, and take some of the pressure off of our defense. And it's not good enough to just say wait till next week ... all of us .. and especially me, need to play better now .. not later.
I want to see a QB get mad ... not when someone drops a ball, but when he misses an open guy. Be hard on yourself, and be encouraging to your teammates .. THAT's LEADERSHIP.
Give others the credit for success, and personally take the blame for failure. That's leadership.
Never once have I ever heard Campbell say .. hey, I didn't play well today, and it's my responsibility to set the tempo. The offense starts with me ... I need to throw better passes and make better decisions, and everything else will take care of itself.
here here

I agree with almost everything you said, but take it from a retired Senior Chief, there is certainly a place for in your face leadership! Most very successful leaders are either loved or feared. A good leader knows what people respond to... Some people you have to pat on the back and others you have to kick them in the a$$.
Really great leaders are both loved and feared. Lombardi was, same for Gibbs and for Parcells.
Do you think ANYONE on that team loves or fears either Zorn or JC?

Oh gosh, oh boo hoo to you guys who think fans shouldn't boo. I mean yea, it might hurt their feelings.. so what? Seems to me it hurts us waaaay more when they play crappy as opposed to them who go home to nice fat paychecks. (some deserved, some not).. so stop your griping about the boos, we as fans can do whatever we want verbally. Your defending the players like they're kids. Good grief already man.. If you can't take the heat, go play ping pong or something, not football. What did hanson say, dimwits? These fans are the same dimwits that pay some of your salarly, matter of fact, why is a guy who doesn't do jack saying anything to begin with. Futhermore, why is it that CP understands where we as fans are coming from? For the record I wasn't at the game but I was booing at zorn's wack play calling.. either that or lack of execution. I was booing my screen out of disgust that these bum Rams may have beaten us..again. Don't tell people why they shouldn't boo, go tell the players to prove us/they (fans that boo) wrong. And don't get mad at posters who say boos are deserved because whether you booed or not, you were sick to your stomach at those 4 and outs in the redzone. There, that's it in a nutshell. Peace out!

RIC and I got ripped in the off-season for being negative, pessimistic etc…we even had our fanhood questioned…telling us to go root for another team. What I don’t understand is some of the same people who criticized us condone booing at the game…That is something I would just not do…can some explained the difference to me???
Do you not think our coaches and player are trying?? Take a look at the prediction thread most here said between 7-9 and 10-6 well this is what that looks like. The Steelers. Pats, Boys, Packers, Cards, Chargers are all 1-1 The Titans are 0-2!!
I bet the Skins look forward and play better on the road.
I have a idea…next game turn your backs to the field and direct your boos to where they belong!!

I cannot speak for others and will not do so regarding those who said to join another team for being critical. I will say that showing disapproval over a performance....repeated performances...is justifiable. I don't doubt the fact that they played hard, but it was a boring and bland game for the most part. I believe it all started when Randle El, Mr. Fair Catch himself, fair caught the ball when he had plenty of room to run. It was just more of the same just as with the inability to score touchdowns. Are we as fans just supposed to sit back and keep taking the same ol' crap without voicing our disapproval? I think not. The easiest way to get the booing to stop is to score touchdowns and win games. Do we not still support our team, because we show disapproval over what is taking place on the field. Example: Do we not still support our Country although we do not approve of the President's performance?

But we did win...but becuase we didn't score TD's it's unacceptable, I think 16 other teams would have taken that on Sunday. It's a good day when you play bad and win IMO.
So booing is the way we support our team??
I'm as frastrated as the next guy, but I see that team does not have the tatlent and IMO is a 7-9 team they are performing just as I thougth they would.

Well said. It's absurd that the players are complaining about getting booed when they aren't even playing in a town that is all that hard on its sports teams. If the Eagles or Giants had played the way that we did on Sunday there would have been A LOT more booing. AROD gets booed all the time by Yankee fans and you don't hear him crying about it in the media.

We support our team by going to the games, buying the merchandise, and watching them on tv. We show our disapproval of performance(s) by booing. Don't confuse showings of disapproval with lack of support.
Yes, we won the game on Sunday, but if it wasn't for the D causing a fumble down at our goal line we very easily could have lost the game. It should have never been that close and if the Rams had scored we would have most likely lost the game, because we cannot put up 6 points at a time. Fans are sick of the performance(s) showed by our offense and they let their disapproval be heard. I don't see anything wrong with voicing a dissenting opinion on the teams performance even though they won.

You are just a negative and pessimistic person who would be better served cheering for another team. Why suffer with the Skins? Why wallow in misery? The Front Office is doing the best job they can by hiring the best talent available. We spent A LOT of money. Danny has to be credited with that! Vinny? we do not know really it is only one season at the helm.
And all of the other flaws that you forecast, well, they remain to be seen ... we will never know until the season starts. Many of the fans are hopeful!!! Besides if you really wish upon a star, good wishes seem to be rewarded. All you have to do is believe hard enough and it will happen.
What?

The season started?

We have problems with play calling?

The OL is in shambles?

The top picks at last year's draft are unproductive still?

No holes for the running game and not enough time for our slow QB?

No Plan B at QB?

Clinton Portis seays many, including the Danny, are in the hot seat?

The fans are booing?

GGGGEEEEEEZZZZZZ ....

Canes you know I've been as critical of this team as anyone.
But my take was the timing of the boos...they started when we took a knee as if to say why not try to score???
If the boos were intented for the FO OK but why boos players on the field??
Please provide me examples of fans booing when their team has WON!!
Had they lost I could see it.

The booing started before the victory formation. You could hear it on the tv starting when Randle El fair caught the returnable punt. The game was a W in the win column, but an L on the performance and entertainment meter.

Not all of them, particularly on offense.
Please explain...I question the telent level...but not the effort.
Obviously we suffer from a lack of talent on offense, particularly on the oline and at wide receiver and qb. However, imo, there is a serious lack of focus, intensity, and frankly effort at times. I just don't see how players can make the types of mistakes that we make (dropped td's, Betts running out of bounds with under 2 min left in the game) on a consistent basis if they are focused and putting their best effort forward. As much as I love Moss, we've seen him give up on routes before and ARE loves to go right down to the ground after a catch instead of fighting for tough yards. On offense, aside from guys like CP,

Fair enough...and yes plays like Betts going out of bounds bothers me more than anything becuase that is something we can control...I believe there was like 2:30 on the clock second down and he run out before the two minute waring in essence giving the Rams an extra 45 seconds when they got the ball back.

That's differnt I think the players are use to being booed on certain plays I speaking to the booing at the end of the game when we took a knee.
