Anyone read the info on redskins.com?

Im almost in tears and this is the kind so stuff posted.

"Portis and Taylor played together at the University of Miami.

At Redskins Park, their lockers are adjacent to each other.

Portis and his girlfriend had a baby girl last year. That had prompted a change in the Pro Bowl safety.

"Ever since Sean had his little girl, it was like a new Sean," Portis said"

Don't they mean "Taylor and his girlfriend"?
http://www.redskins.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=32027

You'd think they would PROOF READ!

And this comment at the bottom of the page

"Stay tuned to Redskins.com for more on this developing story."

Maybe its just me but that pisses me off. It sounds like its just a story to them. That just rubbed me the wrong way in light of everything, and In the words of Portis, All this means nothing when the guy is fighting for his life. But you would think they would have enough respect to proof read.
I firmly believe the Patriots are the antichrist.

Man, I hope he pulls through and can lead a normal life after this. I hate to see this stuff happen - it does everyday but we only hear about it when the person is famous. Say what you will but there are too many damn guns and crazy people in this country.

I go to school in Baltimore, and I heard this first at 11:00 from my friend, who is a ravens fan (he hates the skins). I wasn't sure what to make of it, how serious it would be, whether or not it was a rumor, then I looked it up and have been following everything since 11:00.

Hopes and prayers out to ST, family and friends. Everyone is here for him.

Get better, Sean.
There are only two teams I root for in the NFL. The Skins, and whoever is playing Dallas.

It's okay that we drafted a Landry. After this season, the crygirls will have a new association with that name.

I'm sick to my stomach.

I think this might be the final straw. I don't know if I'll be able to watch anymore games this year. After this I don't care about the team anymore, they're already a sad and pathetic group to watch. I only care about him. I wont care about the Redskins until I hear that he is ok.

Sean Taylor is easily my favorite player. I keep thinking about how the Broncos dealt with this when they lost a player this offseason. Granted this doesn't sound as severe as that situation. But how many Williams fans gave up football after his death? Williams may have been a favorite player to numerous people and I'm sure he was. I truly feel like forgeting football because of this. I love the game and I always will but nothing stings more than losing your favorite player to something totally unrelated to the sport they play. That's truly heartbreaking.

The majority of Skins fans have the right attitude about this, but the minority of you who want to use the "thug" stereotype are pathetic *expletives*.

You know whats really sad? I keep going through the things that we lose with him. We lose a probowl safety. We lose a leader. We lose the lining that truly holds our secondary together. Who will I use in Madden? Why would I even want to play Madden again? I keep hearing "the best safety tandem for years" playing in the back of my head. I never thought I could be so selfish. I'm disgusted with myself.

If his career is over due to this, I think there are about 200,000 Redskins fans and millions of football fans that would like the bastard that did this to rot in the depths of hell. Before he gets there he deserves the absolute worst torture of all time.

I've hung up on several people in regards to their statements about this today. They'll ask what I think about it and I'll tell them to picture their favorite player having their career cut short due to something like this. The general response is "you get whats coming to you". Karma is a *expletive*. Situations like this make me wish I had a flip phone so I could hang up without having to hit the end button.

Regardless, my prayers are with Sean and his family. I only hope that he will pull through this and at the very least be able to raise his child. [-o<

Agree with you, Easy. He is mine and my daughter's favorite player as well. We both have his jersey. She will be upset when she finds out this evening. Difficult to explain these life situations in the first place NOW she could lose her favorite player. Sad indeed.

This is really tough to read:

The noises Sean Taylor and his girlfriend heard in their house early Monday turned out to be their worst nightmare.

At least one armed intruder had broken into the $900,000 Palmetto Bay house of the star NFL player and were at his bedroom door. Taylor rose from bed to investigate, and just outside his bedroom, was shot in the groin and critically wounded. He collapsed back into the room, where he breathed heavily as blood gushed from his wound, according to Taylor's lawyer and family friend, Richard Sharpstein.

Taylor, a former University of Miami star and Gulliver Preparatory School graduate with a controversial past, was airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. About 20 family members and friends gathered at Ryder Trauma on Monday morning. They cried, made phone calls, talked among themselves and refused to speak with reporters.

Sharpstein said Taylor, 24, emerged from surgery about 12:30 p.m. but had lost a lot of blood and remained unconscious, possibly jeopardizing his brain. He is in intensive care and doctors have allowed his family to see him.

From an update to the Herald's main story:

http://www.miamiherald.com/news/breakin ... 20910.html

"Taylor's lawyer and family friend, Richard Sharpstein said Taylor, 24, emerged from surgery about 12:30 p.m. but had lost a lot of blood and remained unconscious, possibly jeopardizing his brain. He is in intensive care and doctors have allowed his family to see him."

Reports also have Sharpstein saying Taylor is likely to live, but is still in critical condition.l

There's also uncertainty about whether there was any damage to the femoral nerve, which is primary in sensation and muscle control in the leg -- specifically the knee.

What's now confusing is that CSN is live with a CNN reporter outside Taylor's home and this CNN guy also talked to Sharpstein and his conversation included the phrases "very, very bad" and "concerned about brain damage."

UPDATE: Statement from ST's agent Drew Rosenhaus says ST is in a room in Trauma Intensive Care and his condition is "extremely critical."

It seems he might live. Now we've got to pray he comes out of the coma with his brain undamaged. After that, I'll pray he walks and walks out of football forever if playing could cause him damage. The hell with football.

JLC just updated... doesn't sound good:

http://blog.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/

"Richard Sparpstein, who has represented Sean Taylor in legal matters in the past and is a friend of the family, said moments ago that the player's life is hanging in the balance in the hospital. Sharpstein, speaking from the hospital, said Taylor is "nonresponsive and unconscious" and the doctors are "worried about a possible brain injury or death."

I haven't heard that but it looks like there is more than meets the eye on this one.

1. Taylor filed a attempted burglary charge on Nov 18
2. The gunman were at his bedroom door in a $900,000 home and hadn't taken anything.
3. The gunman opened the door and fired two shots and took off. Took off without taking anything.

Is this gathered from local coverage, or is this information widely reported? Sounds grim.

It sounds like he was being targeted.

A week before Washington Redskins player Sean Taylor was shot in his Palmetto Bay house, a burglar broke in, rifled through his things, and left a knife on a bed inside his house, according to police records.

...

According to police records, someone broke into Taylor's house on Sunday, Nov. 18, by prying open a front window. The burglar entered several rooms in the house, rifled through drawers, and a safe in Taylor's bedroom.

In a bizarre twist, someone left a kitchen knife on a bed in Taylor's house, according to the police report. Damage was also ``observed to the A/C vent in Taylor's bathroom.

...

Retirees Pat and Jim Smith live in the house next to Taylor's. They said they heard voices outside about 2:30 a.m. and went outside to check it out. Jim Smith talked to a woman with a baby in her arms who he believes is Taylor's nanny. She said someone tried to break into Taylor's house last weekend and again earlier this weekend.

earlier in the thread there was something about him being involved with people who were in gangs because of the atv incident and how this could be backlash. i think we should all stop though, until more details are confirmed.
Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.

Hail to the Redskins!
