Bottom line, yeah a bit quick on the benching of Ramsey. He is on the outs anyway, if he continues to turn the ball over in subsequent games he hurts his trade value.
Ok Brunell you get the 11 hour pardon, your second chance. Do SOMETHING with it!
We've got the D.
We've got the WRs.
We've got the O-line.
Needed one QB who will not give our games away.
Hail to The Redskins!

A team and fans that are a little worked up about a game against our rival in a week don't need a fan like that being ready to jump so quickly. Honestly we knew this was a possibility. And Ramsey didn't show himself as solid yesterday. If he'd had scored one touchdown I bet he'd be starting in Dallas, the fact is he didn't.
Sorry Niki, you know I like you, but I just couldn't read any more pages without responding.
How many TD's did Brunell have yesterday? He would have had as many INT's if it weren't for a penalty. Ramsey also DID throw a TD pass, but

ey "interfered". I felt that it was a ticky-tacky call.
I love Gibbs and his decisions BEFORE he came back. He has done very little in this tenure to make me think he knows what he's doing. I know his heart is in the right place by wanting to make the Redskins winners again, but so is Danny Boy's. We all know how well the heart makes decisions.
Brunell played NO better than Ramsey yesterday. Look at the numbers. The offense was more productive, thanks to Portis and the D putting more pressure on their O, wearing them down. I am not jumping ship(I've been on this boat waaaay too long), but this just makes me sick. I could care a less if someone is selling their tickets for profit...if he doesn't want to be there, then someone overpaying for them obviously does. That alone should shut you whiners up about selling tickets.
I'm with Scooter and 1fan4Ramsey and a few others here. This is a HUGE shafft job that Ramsey is getting. I hope he goes to an AFC team, BAltimore even, and has a great career. Then, in 3 years when Campbell can actually guide this team (if he can...he too has POTENTIAL), Ramsey can suceed all the way to the Big Dance, while we sit and wait for the playoffs.
I'm tired of venting...for now...retalliate JP...I know you will.
Champsturf, you've put it the way I wanted to, but could'nt manage to find the words due to my frustrations. I'm not jumping ship on the Skins, just can't see the reasoning in recent decisions made by the head coach in his second time around. It seems whenever you question Gibbs or the Skins on this Board, you get slammed and accused of jumping ship.

Scooter, yes, they are his tickets, but he is no different from anyone else in that he is bound by the terms of the contract that he signed as a season ticket holder. The guy was caught in a lie and called on it!! If you think that's dogpiling on him, well, then no ones trying to stop you from thinking it. As far as them being "Hey, they're his tickets" they're his tickets to attend the game. The contract he signed with the Redskins states that he will not, and furthermore CAN not, sell them for a profit. He unknowingly admitted that he's tried to, originally blaming it on his anger at the decision to start Brunell in place of Ramsey. As it turns out, it wasn't based on his anger, and was in fact something he's done simply to make a buck. If you think that it's o.k. for Redskins fans to be like that, then I hope you never get season tickets.
There are a lot of people, in fact over a hundred thousand, waiting in line to have the privelage to BUY those tickets, not sell them. When they put their name on a waiting list, and they get called for season tickets, they're not given the luxury of being able to say "Well, I'll take the tickets but if the coach makes a personnel move that I disagree with, can I violate the terms of my contract and sell them on ebay".
Scooter, like it or not, and whether or not it's in the right forum or not, the guy is not the type of fan that the Redskins want, need, or encourage. The guy is entitled to his opinion about the Ramsey benching, but he is NOT entitled to sell those tickets on ebay for a profit, which he admitted that he so far has been unable to (a clear sign that he's tried to).
With all due respect, I think it's you that needs to re-read it. No one is condemning him for wanting Ramsey to start. His desire to sell his tickets on ebay, at a profit, is a different story. Ya think?

Champsturf,
I have nothing to retaliate for, but I do have a question in response to your comment about Ramsey throwing a TD pass. (you know, the one that was called back). Since when are such passes counted as a stat? Just as a rose is a rose is a rose, a td is a td is a td. If the TD pass didn't put 6 points on the board, then it wasn't a TD pass so it's wrong to say he threw a TD pass. If that's the logic, then Brunell threw a TD pass as well, but he was one yard short.

You should be a referee. You make ticky tacky calls too. First, whining about someone selling tickets and now this. If you could see

ey's feet, he WAS in the endzone. He just got called for a penalty. We all know how accurate the zebras can be. One yard short of the endzone could NEVER be a TD. I knew you'd respond, it's just your mentality.

My buddy Grant called me at work with the news that Ramsey wants to be traded. I was sort of excited and initially relieved that this situation had been dealt with but I've become more disappointed with this decision as the night has gone on.
This really sucks, IMO. Ramsey has never been given a fair shot here.
I think Gibbs is making a mistake by giving the starting job to Brunell so quickly. Ramsey didn't play that bad yesterday.
I hope Ramsey goes somewhere where he excels and has a great career.
I'll still be rooting for Brunell but I think Gibbs made a really bad decision although I'm sure he's been wanting to do this for a really long time. I think Gibbs is jumping the gun on his assumption that Ramsey can't play better than Brunell this year.

i feel bad for ramsey. He didnt play well against starting defenses using a vanilla offense. Mark brunnel..."impressed against 2nd stringers...
in the end of the day I wish ramsey the best, because he was really betrayed today.
i dont care what anyone says...our "stretching the field" plan will not happen with brunnels arm. Heck, he might even get injured like last year...what then?
ramsey is tougher and the better passer. He deserved a legitimate chance but gives made a bonehead move IMO.
ruined my day.

Champsturf,
Read the rules, that is if you can read. This is hogwash, not smack. If you wanna take it to smack, do so, but don't tell me to shut up in hogwash.
Learn what a TD pass is and then we can talk football, but until then, don't come back with useless comments about ticky tack calls. The pass you refer to was not a TD pass, so you have no business referring to it as one. Perhaps you'd be better suited for the football 101 thread, you might fit in there. In this forum, a TD pass counts as 6 points, not as a last grasp excuse to justify why a underachieving QB shouldn't be benched.
So, you my friend, should go to bed, cuz your proverbial lights are already out.

Absolutely not!! He's our backup QB, and a capable one at that. Why would we trade our backup QB. We need him. Unless, of course, he's greedy, self serving, and doesn't care about the team and ends up being a locker room scourge.

definitely. He can't be a backup now. The team will have absolutely NO faith in him now, and now he won't want to play for the Redskins. What happens if we are 6-5 and Brunell gets whacked. We would be screwed if Patrick had to be the QB. Can you imagine how much he must hate Gibbs now? How could he get excited about trying to win because Brunell went down? He's gotta go...
not to mention, his trade value will never be higher than right now.

Has anyone talked to ramsey? Seen a quote?
Gibb said he talked to him face to face and called Mark on the phone. I'm sure Ramsey understands the situation though not happy with it but he did play for S.O.S. so this is nothing new

It's different now though 1nik. All this time, everyone has been saying how Joe has something against Patrick. We (as fans) have all been wondering about it, and the media has been saying it. Joe stuck with Brunell 8 games last year even though he was completely horrible. Patrick plays 1 quarter, makes 1 mistake and then starts playing well. He gets hit hard, but recovers. He doesn't go back in the game and now has been replaced as the starter? His time here is over as a starter. Everyone knows it. Patrick will not play nice in the locker room. We should trade him(for value if nothing esle) and now is the time.
I guess Gibbs could say he's staying, but Gibbs doesn't like cancer, see Coles and Gardner. Guess we'll find out in the next few weeks...

Ramsey's REAL QB rating

as all of the rational people on this board know, ramsey had a TD robbed from him by a complete BS offensive pass interference call on cooley (i taped it and have watched it many times in frame by frame, it is unquestionable that the defender initiated the contact). so, let's do some math:
Ramsey's "Official" QB rating: 49.3
- the "Officials"____________
Real QB rating: 82.3

Hey I Agree with you on this.. The Redskins got screwed on that play and man I was p**sed for a long time.. However, if you turn the ball over you won't win games.. counting preseason Ramsey has turned it over 6 times in 5 games.. I was a big Ramsey backer, but for me I have seen enough... I honestly believe that Ramsey needs a fresh start and a new change of scenery... I told my dad yesterday don't be to surprized if Ramsey has played his last game in a Redskins uniform, and it appears that Ramseys days with the Redskins are numbered..

People need to get over the fumbles. Jansen recovered the first one so it wasn't a turnover and Ramsey got absolutely crushed on the second fumble. No qb in the NFL would've held onto that ball. Culpepper accounted for 5 turnovers on Sunday and Carr had 3 int's.....I guess they should be benched too.

No loyalty...?Ramsey has turned the ball over 6 times in 5 games and is inconsistant.. You know what I could not stand Brunell, but after watching him in preseaon and the first game in reg season he has earned it..

Sober up and face it. We are dead, gone. The season is over. We will finish in last place in our division with the most demoralized team in football. This is Spurrier and Danny Awful all over again and as much as I used to admire Gibbs...I now have to give way to my growing feeling that he has become an old man and no longer a football mind to be reckoned with. We are simply going to be stomped all year. This is a real idiot move... one of the worse ever made by a Redskin coach... and one absolutely not to be respected on a number of levels.
