PFHOF Class of 2017

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

the fact he hasn't done anything since his days in Dallas is already
established

No dead horse beating please

yet there is still the matter of 2 rings he achieved via his days in
Dallas, there is also the matter of? he never needed to prove him
self even though he wasn't planning on just? not taking the teams
he coached beyond the playoffs

Ironically

the question has to be asked, What would a "Texan's fan" know on the subject
of validity/winning of a title? Not a damn thing...piggy backing off other teams
isn't watching YOUR team win it all! so it doesn't count, stats? silver linings to
make the nightmare go away

Don't think so...

at the end of the day, you're either a champ or a chump!! no splitting hairs
don't care what the stats say, titles trump all else, Nobody plays for 2nd
place well except YOU

So please stop acting like you know this subject you are just
making yourself look badly in front of the others
Seemed like the wrong thread.

Could be..or perhaps maybe not??? I mean it seems nobody is disagreeing with the
2017 class being inducted in, Except for whether Jerruh should get in or not? how-
ever! this still deals with the Hall Of Fame, seems we have our own set of idea's
on criteria, as to what constitutes induction vs not getting in at all

so I merely pointed these out

What do you know about winning rings...remember you said fans have no say in any of this!
Also do you advocate for all OC/DC who have won two or more rings or is that just reserved for a OC who was one of the biggest loser as a HC in NFL history?
Well I was commenting about the ignorance of putting a co-ordinator in the HOF who for most of his career was average at best. Only time he was great was when he had 1 of the best offenses of all time to run. Yet, the Chargers went from 2nd best team in the AFC to a doormat under his watch. He went to the Redskins, and did basically nothing in his tenure there.
Had this thread not be derailed into a forced Norv Turner should be in the Hall of Fame in 2017, or at worst in 20 years. I would have commented just like I had. Before this stupidity took it over. I have posted his record since leaving Jerrrah's Clownboys. Funny how the Hall of Fame ain't yet looked at a coach's record as co-ordinator. They look at the record as Head Coach. Other wise Buddy Ryan would have been a 1st ballot Hall Of Famer. Ryan's best year as a co-ordinator. He lost 1 game, and won a Super Bowl. His 2nd one by the way. Richie Pettitbon won 3 Super Bowls as Redskins Defensive co-ordinator. Which by the way is better than Norv Turner's. I bet I could find more if I wanted to google them. But, the Hall of Fame looks at Head Coach records.

The question was specific for a reason?

* Coordinators are very much a part of the team
as are every aspect of the staff, being Ex military
did you fight alone or as a team?

A team - but that doesn't answer what you know
about the validity of what classifies "winning"???

Have the Oiler's ever won a Lombardi title? not
that I can tell, what about the Texans? as of right
now nope nothing in the trophy case

yet you speak as though you know such things
having seen such things!! Watching someone
else win the championship doesn't count here

As much as I Loath the Redskins as the Cowboys
only living worth while "Rival" and this in no way
is kissing their butt..At least they can say they've
been around long enough to see them win a title
or two

do you see where this is going now? winning it
then not winning it at all, doesn't diminish the
actual winning of it!

* Turner isn't responsible for the failure in D.C.
and Oakland, You try working for Snyder and
Davis and then tell me how that all worked out
for you?

San Diego he can have a little more blame b/c
it will be assumed, That he had more control of
the team

Minnesota? stepping down while the season was still in
full gear not the greatest moment, However, we will
never know what really prompted him to leave like he
did

he and Zimmer could have had a falling out, creative
differences, No say, whatever it was? is speculation
to this point

Meanwhile

his date with the Hall is a way's away from now I say he still
gets in, given ALL of his career not just certain aspects of it

So what so YOU?

Turner didn't win in DC, 1 playoff appearance and he lost that game doesn't make him
a winner, regular season wins? who cares, and yes, it is better to see your own team
win a championship. Than it is to bandwagon onto some other team pretending like
you've been a fan of their's all season, when in fact you've only jumped on b/c they
went to the super bowl and YOU just happened to want them to win

which is why? I am happy I stay neutral could careless the outcome of who
wins? use the time to study and get more in depth with the game, and not

You know for someone who is arguing for Turner you'd think you would know that one of his playoff wins did come in D.C. He did win his first playoff game. Sorry but you didn't win a SB because you were a fan of the team doesn't put you on some other level...just when I think you've posted the most ignorant statement on this topic you go and one up it!

He did win 1 playoff game while Redskins head coach, that doesn't make him a winner,
just like beating Dallas once or twice (up to 3 times) doesn't make you a winner, getting
there isn't an accomplishment

Winners, win titles it's that simple stats are secondary

Sorry but that just isn't true, I can give you dozens of examples of contributors, coaches and players who never won a SB that are in the Hall. Yet you define the HOF by titles won and lobby for a coach who hasn't won one!

Allow me to attempt to put this thread back on topic by this quote.
DEHog wrote:Anyway back on topic!!
I got 10-15 right

Kevin Mawae
LaDainian Tomlinson
Morten Andersen
Alan Faneca
Terrell Owens
Don Coryell
Joe Jacoby
Terrell Davis
John Lynch
Kurt Warner

I was surprise by Taylor being a first ballot finalist, not so much for Dawkins and I knew LT would be.
Other surprises were Boselli, Bruce and Law making it to the final 15...along with Mawae they knocked out Atwater, James, Craig, Johnson and Mecklenburg.

I'm going to stick with my picks for top 5 but IF Dallas make it to the SB I can see some voters getting all nostalgic and voting for Jones and/or Owens.
Hoping Lynch still gets in...I don't see Dawkins as a first ballot like I see Ed Reed.

Now on to the big one
Now way Boselli makes is over Joe.
As for Mawae this is his third year, first year as a Finalist.
It really will come down to Faneca and Joe for the lineman spot. This is Faneca second year and he's made the final 15 both times.
This is Joe's 19th year and second straight year as a finalist. Last year Joe made the first cut Faneca didn't...WELCOME TO CANTON JOE JACOBY!!!!!
If you wanna continue to whine about Norv Turner's chances. There is a thread dedicated to that. This thread should be about the 2017 NFL Hall of Fame Class. Not speculating on who might get in in the 2036 class.

How about we talk about who might actually be going into the hall of fame this year. Instead of derailing this thread to a Norv Turner thread. There happens to be one. And, if you wanna do that. You can go to that thread.
Who I think should go in. Jacoby, Warner, Lynch, Coryell, and Tomlinson. Notice I just commented on this thread topic, and have now attempted to put it back on track.

Agreed...and I agree with all you picks excepts LT...I don't think he's first ballot wouldn't surprise me if he makes it, but I say Davis goes this year.

Davis vs Tomlinson. That's the coin flip. Either one works. But, if my other 4 choices make it. I would be happy.

I didn't say he was. But, I do feel that he should be in. If not this year. Sometime in the next few seasons. Before they induct all the people who would not, nor should be other than the "Service to the NFL" idiocy becomes the way that the NFL runs its Hall of Fame. And the price of Bronze is gonna be a very expensive deal. In fact Bronze will become more valuable than Gold due to all of these Thousands, and Thousands of bronze statues that will have to be made. In fact the largest building in North America will have to be built just for the Hall of Fame. It probably will be larger than the town of Canton Ohio. I'm guessing it will be 10 stories tall, and 20 miles in diameter.
The largest building in floor space right now is New Century Global Center in Chengdu China. 18,900,000 square feet. The NFL Hall of Fame building that will be needed will dwarf that one by quite a bit. If the NFL goes to "Service to the NFL" as it's only requirement.

Sorry should have been more clear, yes he is definitely a HOF'er! By comparing him to those players I was saying I don't see him as a first ballot HOF'er...I think he makes top 10 this year and goes in next year.

You didn't make it confusing. I understood. I was just showing how stupid "Service to the NFL" as the most important factor is stupid. Ole Jimbo who cleans the stands after a game, and has done that for over 30 years. Is he deserving of admittance to the NFL Hall of Fame? After all he has Served the NFL for over 30 years.

I never said it was the most important factor, but it is part of the "participation" process
along with other factors, that eventually land you inside Canton's hallowed Halls
