I'm hopeful that Compton, Moses and Long can contribute here - the O line will take time but everyone (except Trent) from the group that were starters in 2013 need to be gone - Kory will most likely stay but he's now a center
You just wrote that building an o-line takes time and now you want to get rid of Laovao after six months.
People are completely unrealistic about what they believe needs to be done v. what is actually attainable. Trent, Laovao and Lichtensteiger will all be on that line next year. Laovao is going into the second year of a four year contract and there is no way the team is in financial position to eat $4m of dead cap space by letting him go next year.

Not a bad idea. Turns out this year's class of linemen maybe wasn't so deep after all. They guy I wanted before the draft can't even get playing time in Buffalo, whose offensive line is substantially worse than ours.

Finally, Tom Compton. He's really good in the front side of run plays ... and the backside of run plays. I love this kid. I'd build around this kid. Everyone right now is saying we need a right tackle. I stop that right now. We have 'em. We have a right tackle. Tom Compton's our right tackle. If I'm the GM I say I've got my right tackle. I do. I feel good about havin' my right tackle. And now I'm gonna say is Morgan Moses this guy that can play right guard. Is he this guy who can step in and be a good guard for me. Cuz he might be that guy. But I like what Tom Compton is doing at right tackle. And if I want Morgan Moses there I'm gonna say is Tom Compton the guard. Tom Compton ... everyone says I want this young gritty guy that we find out of nowhere that we want to be on our offensive line. You got 'em. And he's playing for you. And he's playing pretty well for you. Now he can be better. But even when he messes up sometimes he's got enough athleticism which surprises me to get himself back into plays. He's not great but this is a young player playing really early in his career doing good things. He was a B+.

C00ley has been saying all year that our line is not in any way, shape, or form as bad as certain fans claim.

This was pretty good on realredskins today:
Although Redskins fans are already screaming for the team to take offensive linemen in the draft, there are other ways to upgrade the line. One way is staying in house. In the past three drafts the Redskins have take four offensive linemen—Compton (2012-6th round), Josh LeRibeus (2012-3rd), Morgan Moses (2014-3rd), and Spencer Long (2014-3rd). If you don’t think they are ready to contribute there are options in free agency. After making some cap-related cuts the Redskins should end up with something in the neighborhood of $20 million in cap space.
I would have Moses and Compton have an offseason-long competition for the right tackle job and hope that Moses, who has the physical tools to be very good but who needs a lot of work on his techniques, wins out. Chester would be one of the above-mentioned cap casualties, saving $4 million against the cap. Long and LeRibeus would battle it out for that job. Because of the head-scratching contract they gave Lauvao (4 years, $17 million, $5 million guaranteed), Lauvao would be tough to cut as they would have to eat $3 million in dead cap space. I’d spend a second- or third-round pick on a guard and put him on the fast track to replace Lauvao sometime between the middle of the 2015 season and the start of 2016.

ey needs to go watch some more film. He couldn't be more wrong on this assessment. Our line is putrid minus Trent.

^ im not a coach.. but its clear as daylight that who ever is behind center will be running for their life and sacked 5 or more times per game even just bringing 4. That points to the weak line and poor pick ups from the rb.
NE often uses another lineman as a TE... has Gruden never heard of such a formation??
Dont evwn get me started on how little we use the best FB in the fn bizz.. sob

OK, casual Sunday observer guy. You really countered his research and reasoned claims there with that "putrid" remark.

Believe it or not, a lot of our sacks this year have come because the RB didn't pick up a block, or a TE completely missed a rusher. That's not the fault of the o-line. At least 3 sacks from last weeks game were the result of the TE or RB.

I'd put a lot of our sacks on our slow-motion attitude. We get to the line with less than 10 seconds on the play clock and have no chance to do anything but say hut, hut, hut ... or call a time out.
Other offenses hustle and have a chance to undress our defense with one or more false snap counts.
I watched Oregon last night. They got to the line of scrimmage within 10 seconds after being tackled consistently. We don't even do that in 2-minute drill. WTF? SMMFH

DM - there have been a lot of valid reasons for our lackluster play this season
IMO the lack of urgency & lack of a huge desire to make plays by everyone is partly due to Gruden not doing his job as a HC
I think he can be a good HC but there are huge issues here and he needs to make sure they get resolved before we go into next season
this is part of my concern
everyone needs to be held accountable for what happened here this season but I do not have any faith in Dan and Bruce
If we do not put someone in charge here, who has a clue and who has total authority over all personnel - we are not going anywhere

This (above) and the QB not haveing time to call blocking assignments, or fail to recognize them.

Believe it or not sacks are not the only measurable for how you would grade an offensive line. #1 we are bad in allowing sacks. But what goes unnoticed is the amount of clean pockets and passing lanes our line give the qb. Other teams may have a lb break free but the qb is able to step in the pocket or roll to left or right and buy time but our lanes are consistently jammed where the qb has no where to go.
You ever wonder why we never do 3 step drops? B/c the coaching staff do not have confidence in the ability of the line to not be pushed back into the qb or have the ball batted down.

I don't know how anyone can defend the play of this offensive line this week
it will be interesting to hear about how the O line played today from those that think the offensive line is not playing too bad
go ahead - enlighten me

I don't know where you're going with the "casual Sunday observer" comment. It's actually quite comical.

I agree wholeheartedly! I made a thread about our poor blocking and pointed out we dont really have good blocking TEs, and our rbs miss blocks every damn pass play- even helu whom is considered the better of he and Al.
I called for D young and double te sets w an extra lineman... but nope

You called right unfortunately the coaching does not know how to adapt. If

ey give anyone on the line over a C this week is crazy.
