I disagree. We still have seven picks this year (and our first rounder will net us a franchise QB), seven next year (no first rounder, but that hardly means we can't have a productive draft), and six (for now) in 2014. We can continue to build through the draft.

It will definitely be harder. But our FO has already shown the ability to find talent in lower rounds, so I've got some hope there.

Still, not another 1st round pick until 2015. Ouch!

You know, Hog Man - this is the best part. Every FA in the league knows we are going to have a stud at QB while he drinks his coffee this morning.

What a way to start spring break!

Anyone seen The Poster? How about Bizzy B?

Yessir!! My friends who are afflicted with CFD - Cowboy Fan Disease - have already started hating!!

You have friends that are Cowboy fans...?!?!?

Oh, Hogster, I'm disappointed in you....

It's inevitable--I live in DC.

They're the worst kind too!

I have a family of guys (5 brothers) who I am very good friends with who are all Cowgirl fans. I grew up around the corner from them and went to school with one of them. I still go over and watch games with them once in a while. The arguments can get pretty heated. The best part is its their old man's fault they grew up that way. The old man is a die hard Giant fan, but served in the Navy, so he was a huge Staubach fan. He bought his sons some a few Staubach jerseys, and the rest is history. The best part about this is the old man knows how obnoxious his sons are being Cowgirl fans. This past season when they all got tickets to the Giants/Cowgirl game in the Meadowlands, he refused to sit next to them, instead getting his own ticket to sit by himself. Its quite comical when they argue football.

.............................................. I LOVE THIS TRADE

there are so many GOOD ramifications that will happen here, having either Luck or RGIII as our QB

Nobody (that matters) is going to look at what we gave up - the ONLY value to look at here is WHAT WE GOT for those picks

UNBELIEVABLE that what the real fans wanted, really happened

This FO is the best

WOW

Judge wrote:That is the word that they will be using in five years when they look back on this deal.

While the Rams can use their newly acquired treasure trove of first round picks to draft positions of need and build a much more competitive team...

All the Redskins will have to show for this trade are years where they go 4-12, 6-10, 3-13 and 5-11 and routinely get realistically eliminated from playoff contention by Halloween. And no first round stud picks of their own to choose from, barring any future trades to acquire them.

RG3 is a great athlete. No question about it. He can run really fast, he's ridiculously agile and he won a Heisman Trophy.

Some guys who are not as fast and agile as RG3 are and who did NOT win the Heisman Trophy are: Joe Montana, Ben Roethlisberger, Troy Aikman, Tom Brady and BOTH Manning brothers.

(And before you go there, that's not racial commentary. It's simply the matter of fact.)

So to review...

The Rams are being given a golden opportunity to draft their way back into contention in their division from the ground up and for the long haul, and maybe even be a playoff team before very long. And with Jeff Fisher as their coach now, those chances are probably even better.

And in exchange, the Redskins are going to get a quarterback who can run really fast and who won some games in college.

And so, once again, we see that the people in charge of our favorite team opt for eye-candy and making a big splash instead of good old fashioned common sense.

Drafts are always a gamble, yes. High picks sometimes go bust. Low picks sometimes have long, productive careers. Nothing is certain and there's a large amount of luck necessary for things to work out well.

But the Redskins are taking a foolish risk on this one by gambling with so many assets, and they can expect a LOT of second-guessing when this trade doesn't work out for them.

And it won't. Watch.

RG3 is an amazingly gifted athlete.

The Redskins don't need an athlete.

They need a quarterback. Desperately.

You obviously haven't spent any time watching him. Where did you pinpoint passing accuracy? Where did you mention strong arm? Where did you mention ball security (6 ints last year). This is no runner who plays happens to play football. This is a quarterback. A very unique one.

I agree Deadskins. People are forgetting to realize that there are very productive players to be found after round 1. This is suppose to be the deepest draft in years. We still have 6 picks in this draft i believe, and may get more if Allen trades down somewhere along the line. Bruce just has his work cut out for himself. He really has to earn his paycheck the next few years and find some late round gems.

THERE IS NO DOUBT that Bruce and Mike know what they're doing and how best to make this franchise better

They've already showed that the past 2 years and now this - WOW

We have vastly improved our chances of success from where we were at the end of 2009

This franchise is in great hands - they will find a way

The Rams made the smart move. Bradford has all the makings of a stud qb but has had no help around him. No qb would stay upright or healthy with the offensive line that he's played behind the past few years. With this trade the Rams now have 5 first round picks in the next three seasons. This has the makings of a win-win trade for both the Rams and Skins.

Here's my take on this... GOOD!!! No GREAT!!!!

This team. Needed a Franchise QB more than anything else. With Manning having snubbed th Redskins that meant having to get the #2 pick in the draft. Yeah, they probably overpaid for it but when you need something as vital as a Franchise QB you do what you need to in order to make it happen.

This is an aggressive move that will set the tone for the Redskins entire offseason. It also suggests to me that Mike Shannahan realized another losing season was going to mean heading to the unemployment line and apparently he doesn't want that just yet.

Obviously we'll have to see how it all works out, but I'm excited to see the team going for it rather than sitting back and hoping for the best.

Exactly. It's a painful price, but worth it. We have so much cap space, I hope we use it wisely. But now we could have our QB position set for 15 years.

This trade has the potential to be Fisher's "In your face, Bud Adams" moment. Hope it works for him... just as much as I hope Griffin becomes an absolute terror to NFC Defensive coaches... especially those in the East.

Not at all. It will take a lot more than this acquisition to get me back on the bandwagon, CT. Though it is a good first step in the right direction.

For people talking about the price, think of it this way. We've had 1st round picks in almost every draft over the last 15 years and won nothing.

It's not like having those picks will make us a winner for sure. Talent wins games, and we just added one heck of a talent.

Exactly Hogster. No one walks into a Bentley dealer and asks "how much?" If you have to ask that question than you can't afford it. If the Bentley is your car of choice, and you have the means, you go in and write the check. That being said, lets hope RGIII is a Bentley and not a Ford Pinto.

RG3

RGIII

I think someone snatched them up for re-sale later. Dog!

Maybe this has been said by others but I will say it agan. If RGIII is the elite quarterback in a couple three years that the Redskins neede, this will be a great trade, a seal and well worth the price. If he is just average or out, it will be the worst trade ever. We should take a wait and see attitude until the grade is in.
