It was looking rough going into the third, but Green and Ovie stepped up. Ovie's one on three goal was outstanding.

The Caps showed they have a heart bigger than their game. And they showed they have game. When Ovechkin only takes one shot for the entire game, which was one incredible steal and shot by the way, and the rest of the team carries the load, these Caps look poised for a deep run in the playoffs.
I hereby request a HTTC emoticon.

Its hard to find anything positive about the game tonight. I'm not sure if you call what the Flyers played "the trap" but they did a great job taking away the middle of the ice.

The Flyers put a body on anyone that touched the puck. They had the Caps skating backwards most of the night. That being said, the Caps had ample opportunities to put up a few goals, and they seemed to hit Martin Biron square in the chest pad. The Caps aren't going to miss those shots every game. Missing them allowed the Flyers to play their beat em up beat em down style of play.

I've been gone for a week, did I miss anything?
I got married on April 5th at 4pm. The Caps secured their playoff berth later that night...cetainly one of the happiest moments of my life.
I've included a pic, you'll notice, I'm wearing my Caps hat! (no I didn't wear it during the ceremony)
So we are 1-1. That's okay. they say it's usually not good to sweep a team in the early rounds anyway. Big game tonight. We'll see how they respond.

Congrats!
I was in a sports bar in Charleston SC the day after my wedding (on our honeymoon) watching the Skins. Yes the wife was with me - I married a sports fan!

Thankfully, so did I! When I get the pro pics in, I've got one that looks like a draft day photo. Got her a Skins jersey with her new last name and our wedding date on it!
She pointed out to me that it's Mike Sellers' number!

Another funny tid-bit; When we were being announced (at the start of the reception) we came in to "The Hey Song"!
It was awesome!

Time for the Caps to get back to their winning ways.

Bad first period, switching to lucky Sean T jersey since my lucky Mike Pivonka jersey is at home.

There must be some issue with anyone defending that pipsqueak Briere. I don't know what the issue is but he and turnovers are killing the Caps.

I think part of it is the nerves of some of the younger players, we also really lack one tough physical defensemen. To bad we can't clone Mark Tinordi.

I'd settle for Scott Stevens or Al Iafrate. Or for Brashear to send Briere a message.

Mike Greens fight messed up the PP, but I was glad to see him sticking up for Morrison[/quote]

I was thinking more like BS on the slashing call added to Green's penalty and more BS on the penalty shot call. I'm also thinking Boudreau needs to give Huet a night off. The Caps have no energy. They spend too much time being fancy and not enough time shooting the puck. And all that fancy passing keeps turning the puck over. They need to change their strategy.

I think the entire team needs to play more physical. I agree on Huet, I also think Kolzig would fight back if people crashed the net, if he was in goal. I did not have the benefit of seeing many caps games, but it seemed like for the periods under BB, the team did much better when they took more shots. I remember a few times after bad losses, or bad PP chances Steve Kolbe remarking on that.

What a heart-breaking loss.
At least it was only a double OT loss, not a 4 OT loss.

They played a lot better this time, but it still just wasn't enough. While switching up the line combos seemed to help them a lot, in the end it's what killed them (hence the two penalties for too many men on the ice).
Huet was amazing tonight.
It's funny how much better he plays when the refs aren't letting a Philly player hold him down on the ice.
I thought that if you touched the goalie while he's in the crease, that was an interference minor unless you had the puck. Did they change the rules on me, or am I just wrong? 'Cause it always seems like Huet's got a forward from the other team in there trying to wear his pads.
All in all, it was a good game...just an unfortunate ending.

That bogus penalty to Viktor Kozlov seemed to kill the Caps momentum.
The Caps are, for the most part a very young and inexperienced playoff team. I'm hoping they can make a good show for the next two games and gain valuable playoff experience.
Lesson #1. You have to elevate your game in the playoffs. Every experienced team does.

Good first period, hope we can keep up the pressure. Ovie is playing like a beast so far. I liked him dumping Richards? into the bench before the end of the first period.
