People that are calling for Gibbs's head saying he needs to go are nothing but whining maggots! So what if he didn't know the two timeout rule, you think that makes him a bad coach? You look at ANY coach in the game, Bellichick, Cowher, even Gibbs's 1st tenure, and they've ALL made boneheaded moves!!!
Those people that criticize Gibbs fail to realize the progress that Jason Campbell has made, the pride that these players are playing with, the 100% effort they gives, and the fact that even if they have a bad season, things are looking bright for the Redskins. Campbell has made HUGE strides in his FIRST full year as a starter, and there is no doubt that this offense will be in high gear next year. Gibbs signed a five year contract, and before you go burning him at the stake, let him do his five years and see what he can do!! Crucify him all you want after next year, but give him the support while he's there!!
Does anybody remember how pathetic Bellichick was when he was in Cleveland? Anybody remember the losing years that Cowher had, and the year before the Steelers won the Super Bowl people were calling for Cowher to retire? I guess not!!
The problem with this team is NOT with Gibbs, Williams, or even Saunders....it is with the players execution, and they have made progress this year in JC's first full year! Let's ride it out and see where it ends up! I wonder if Gibbs sticks around next year, and does great things, would you then retract your call for him to quit!!!
The only problem I have with the current staff is the need for a GM. I think a GM would be a wise thing to have cuz Cerrato bites!!! But, even then, to distrupt the structure now would be a bad thing, IMO.

Well, that post is sure to advance the discussion, I predict a meeting of the minds by the end of the day.

There is no way that both of them are coming here. In all due honesty I, if Gibbs isn't coming back next year we will be lucky to get either one. That is a big emphasis on "if Gibbs isn't coming back next year."

I would be very surprised if Gibbs does not fulfill his commitment and obligation to the team, the fans and the owner. Gibbs is a man who stands by and for his mates unlike some fans who think that being a fan entitles them to insult this HOF coach. He has not yet finished what he commited to do and we should at least give him that time before we put him down.
We all want what is best for this team but it is hard to believe this team would be better off without Gibbs for the next year.
someone once said that sometimes you get what you wished for and then you knew it was not what you expected.
We have Gibbs - his commitment was for 5 years, he has 1 to go, we should at least allow him that ... if you don't like it, at least be decent about how you handle it ... if you have it in you

I am not calling for GIbbs head, but it is obvious he is older now. Its a fact of life that when you are younger, you are smarter, your mind works faster, you have more hunger, passion, etc..
Yes Gibbs is wise beyond his years, but I know he is not the same coach he used to be.
I am going to just wait and see what he does when his contract is about to expire. I still want him as a consultant or maybe as the full time GM only.
I am pretty sure if he focused all his time and energy into just being the GM then he would do a good job, instead of juggling GM and head coach.

Anyone who reads this sentence, please do so in the R. Lee Ermey voice (the drill sergeant from Full Metal Jacket).
It makes it far more amusing.

Its a fact of life that when you are younger, you are smarter
That explains the rash of deaths from alcohol poisoning among college students up here where I am...

It's a fact of life that when you are younger you
think you know everything. When you get older, you realize you know nothing.

Where are all those that criticized the coaching staff saying they needed to go? Why are you not applauding the decisions to drop Williams and Saunders?
I for one would have liked to see Williams stay but we have a lot of talent on this team and I think we should have done a lot better this year and the past several years.

Just the two that I found that really trashed the coaches at the time. I think that while everyone wants to turn on the decisions being made that they should be reminded how unhappy many were at the time with the coaches in place. Sure we made the playoffs two out of the past three seasons, but we had to go on insane winning streaks to do that and frankly I think with the talent we have and the amount of strong leads we held at halftime it was tough to swollow. I loved having Gibbs here but I for one am looking forward to something new and a little less conservative.
0 for originallity? I would have added my comments to another thread that did that if I saw it. If it was out there then I missed it.
