If you go car shopping for the best car you can afford and are broke paying for it, are you going to drive it or leave it in the garage? Brandon Lloyd is that car. The Redskins overpaid for him because they liked the appearance. Now they have the payment and they leave him garaged. Makes absolutely no sense. You can trade the car but you're going to be upside down on the loan so it makes no sense.
This has nothing to do with like or dislike or placing blame. If you buy the car, drive the car.

Unless it fails to function as a car! If it stalls in the middle of a drive, goes left when you want it to go right, only runs at half speed when you need it to go full speed, the sound it makes is not what you want to hear, and you just can't count on it to get you to work, then no I wouldn't drive it if I had four other cars that can get me to work with out any hassels!
It would stay parked until I was forced to use it or I was sure that it would now function the way a car is supposed to function.
If you already had four other cars, why would you over pay for this one? Answer: The Redskins did not have four other cars at the time. Now they have four other cars and they still have the payment on the first car. Maybe if they place an ad someone will want the car but why not drive it until then? Especially since the car has limited resale value.

Why not drive it? Because of all the reasons he gave you. If you have better performing vehicles, drive them, and leave the lemon in the garage, no matter how dearly you paid for it.

That still makes no sense. If you leave the vehicle in disrepair, you can't even trade it in. Even if the Redskins want to part ways with Lloyd, it would make more sense to make him look remotely appealing to other teams. Getting absolutely nothing out of the deal either on the field or off is a poor business decision. It also leaves the Redskins with a roster of 52. If the Redskins truly have no intention of using Lloyd, why is he still active on gameday?

It would be just as easy to make Lloyd inactive for the remander of the season and call up Meshawn or Koren Robinson or David Boston or any number of other receivers.

I'm on record here many times saying I think BL is trying to work his way out of Joe's dog house, and he will eventually accomplish that goal. I was just taking the analogy to it's next logical step. But I still don't think you play a guy just to make him look good as trade bait, that makes no sense to me. Are you saying that even if Joe feels other receivers give us a better chance to win, we should play BL just to recoup our investment? Back to the car analogy, you should drive the car, even though it's going to stall out on the beltway, just so people can see the for sale sign in the window? No, you get the car fixed, and drive it sparingly, at first, until you have confidence it will perform as expected. That makes perfect sense to me.

Trade him?? For what? A bag of pretzels and a magazine? Lloyd has absolutely no trade value right now. The guy is behind the likes of Thrash and McCardell so I highly doubt that another team in the NFL is going to trade a pick for Lloyd. I'm sure that there is plenty of demand for a receiver that has caught 0 td's in his last 20 games. And playing him because we spent a lot to get him or to boost his trade value is just stupid. You play the guys that get the job done and that you trust. If Lloyd is one of those guys then play him. But putting him into the game because of his price tag is not only a bad football move but also sends the wrong message to the rest of the team. As for your car analogy, that doesn't really make any sense either. He is in the dog house for a reason. At the very least there are indications that he doesn't practice consistently (CP interview), he's angered the coaches with his attitude (helmet throwing from last season), and didn't give his all on the int against the Dolphins (Lloyd admitted it). If you need a map to Gibbs' doghouse just ask Lloyd for it. All of these things that he's done are the types of things that Gibbs hates, so if Gibbs is uncomfortable with playing Lloyd and doesn't have faith in him to get the job done I have no problem with it.

1. Old News
2. Anyone EVER confirm what Portis said in that interview? No.
3. The helmet thing was dealt with last year (he got benched) or in the off-season (when JG sat down with him).
4. He came into the season as the #2, so what happened last year has nothing to do with him not playing.
CanesSkins26 wrote: and didn't give his all on the int against the Dolphins (Lloyd admitted it).
He admitted it, that's a step in the right direction; but we all know "the Danny" if Gibbs asked him for a dog house, it's got to be huge
Look at Arch his buddy Lovie had to buy his way out.

That's it in a nut shell, Joe wants him to "work harder". No matter how much Lloyd is supported or bad mouthed by the media or the fans it's not going to matter until JG/AS is comfortable putting him out there on the egular bases. Doing what he did last week against the Lions is another step in the right direction, but lke I said if Joe got that doghouse from "the Danny" ...

I agree that it's old news. I just think that it is contributing to Gibbs not having faith/trust in Lloyd. I don't think that the play on the int against the Dolphins would be such a big deal if there hadn't been a problem last season. I mean look at it from Gibbs' and Snyder's position. They gave Lloyd a second chance after last season, Snyder even mentioned how proud he was of Lloyd in an interview, and then in the very first game of the season Lloyd quits on a play. How do you expect the coaches to react? They are only going to give a guy so many chances. I don't think that any one thing that Lloyd has done is enough for him to be in the dog house so it has to be a combination of all that has happened with him in the past year and a half.

This seems like a blizzard of discussion on a small topic. Surprising. Maybe it's talked out?
From the arguments, it seems:
- La Canfora has heard (and seen) Lloyd take a bad attitude into practices (profanity totward Stan Hixon), and put less than a full effort into learning his positions and running out his routes.
- That, we guess, explains why Lloyd is now about #4 or 5 receiver.
- Without a miraculous turnaround, the Redskins have cap decisions to make.
- As the optimist, and the sentimentalist, I like having Keenan McCardell on the team that should never have cut him to make room for Desmond Who. If McCardell delivers, and if both Moss and Randle-El return, then I think less about Lloyd.
Still, 11 pages is a lot of discussion about the number 2 or 3 receiver (start of year), who reminds me a bit of Leroy Jackson (ya gotta look 'im up).

We had huge discussions on Archuleta last year, too. There's something unsettling with a player going so wrong when everything seemed good to go. Especially when the team as a whole is doing well.

What's the man's size got to do with this, all the WR are small

Not sure how JLC knows much about practice when the Skins kicks the reporters out after warm ups, but to let Jason tell it he's seen it all, and I'm willing to bet Stan wouldn't be the first position coach to be cussed out
welch wrote:- That, we guess, explains why Lloyd is now about #4 or 5 receiver.
According to JLC he's more like #6 or #7 and he knows there are only six on the roster

In other words we a our standard off season to look forward to.

We're trying to figure out what Gibbs thinks of Lloyd and why he thinks that, considering the only "insider" speaking on this matter is a blogger (aka a bogger

)

11 pages just means the members have a interest in the thread (or it's the 4 or 5 of us doing all the posting). It could be that we are the only team with a operational car sitting in the doghouse, or that there's a ot of fans that want to see the team get something out of the trade and this is all we can do about it.
Leroy did get into the endzone

We spend an awful lot of time talking about a guy that, on gameday, I actually forget about being a part of the team. So what Ive done to correct this, I now have one of those party noise makers that when you blow it, you get the kazoo sound and the little paper part unfurls. This will be used on every Blloyd reception from here on out. It seems to me at this point his receptions should be celebrated in such a manner. The amount of topics this guy gets thrown into, I dont see the Redskins making the playoffs unless he gets substantial playtime. Look, if he was tearing it up in practice, he would get the call, its just that simple. Sellers bugged the hell out of the coaches and he got his turn, why not Lloyd? Effort gets rewarded under Joe Gibbs , always has , always will.
As far as JLC goes , Im not convinced theres a Redskin he does like, therefore I refuse to subject myself to his ilk. (anyone who's middle name is "La" should be working in California , anyway)

i would bet that Lloyd could have been a lot more successful today on the field - aside from

ey these guys have dropped a lot of balls Lloyd would have no trouble catching

Nice to see Jason not getting the ball to Lloyd across the middle when he was wide open and then over throwing him.
Where was Moss on that interception that got returned? Will he get benched like Lloyd?

OK...Desmond Howard. Heath Shuler. How about Ray MacDonald or Gary Beban?
Ignoring the Redskins, how about Steve Spurrier the QB?
Some guys don't make it. Jeff George had a great arm and no career. I don't know why...I just know that, at some point, coaches know what's to be known and move on.
I hope Lloyd shows something, but, meanwhile, I expect more from McCardell.

Well, Lloyd did get some looks today, not a lot, but at least he got a few thrown his way. That's a good sign. Maybe Brandon is working his way out of the doghouse. Good for him and I'm still pulling for the kid.

Caldwell wasn't even activated today, so I guess that experiment looks like the dog it started out as.

I'm really dissapointed with the coaches after this game. It's really unfair of what they're asking Lloyd to do.
He's only being put in the game for long bombs after being on the scout team all week long. They don't allow him to develop a rhythm with the QB for a few series which isn't fair.
Lloyd was wide open twice and Jason failed to get the ball to him. Lloyd made a heck of an effort by coming back to a ball thrown short of the 1st down.
Disgusting. He showed for the 1st time this season that he can be a legit weapon for us and yet he's still the 4th WR.
IMO, with the injuries and lack of concentration shown by our "core players" it's a shame that they won't allow Brandon to help the team. For that, they deserve the loss they got last week. And if they don't get their heads out of their behind soon, we'll be .500.

What with Moss's struggles, I'd like to see Lloyd get more looks. He nearly had a great catch yesterday, but that was a tough grab. It would be nice to see him become a factor.

Moss was in Bloyd's shoes this weekend, come to think of it. He did not get to practice all week, and was inserted in the lineup cold!, no warm up throws, nothing but full stride routes, if Moss can't do it, then Blloyd cant do it either, they need to get some practice under their belt, and be brought in slowly.

Lloyd impressed me with his effort yesterday. The deep pass from Campbell was a pass he could have made, was the type of highlight catch the team thought they were getting when they got him, but it would been a heck of a catch if he caught it!
Campbell needs to work on putting a little more air on his deep throws. A little more loft to that pass would have resulted in a TD.
Looks like Lloyd is working his way out of the dog house.

I gotta say, I've always thought that if the game turns ugly we will surely win. I still cannot believe we lost that game. I was hoping for a relapse like this on the CARDS so we can get momentum going against the PATS, oh well.
