Wait 'till next year syndrome.

Vinny is that you? Look at the great guys we got this year.

Wait 'till next year syndrome? LOLOLOL. We've not been "winning now" since 1992.

You're right, The 'Skins should just pack it in this year and head right to the 08 draft.....My nephew is the best player on his pee wee football team, we should just wait around for the next 10 years & draft him with a 4th round pick.

You think a 4th rounder in 2009 is worth more than a proven veteran for our shaky o-line right now, Hogster?

Now, if the pick is a 5th in this year's draft, then that's something else to weigh. But a 2009 low-round pick is not something to worry about in this case, in my view.

Excuse me?? Check the transaction wire.

I think that Kendall is a good guard. I like him on our team. But I do think that we gave up more than we could have if we had addressed this before we lost all leverage and were in a vulnerable position with only 2 weeks out...and badly in need of a guy who can play guard.

Kendall has been begging out for months. He wanted more money, so it is my personal opinion, that we would have had more leverage if we were better in evaluating who we had at guard.

Everyone knew Todd Wade was 6 foot 8 and not very athletic, yet we thought he was the next Jacoby. Apparently we were wrong because I can't see Kendall coming here to ride the bench behind a guy who hasn't even shown that he can play guard.

You can roll your eyes all you want. 34 years old is 34 years old. Have fun in fantasy land. Not saying it was a bad move, but a 4th rounder?? They only gave us a 6th for Pat Ramsey who at the time was a young Quarterback, and their vet was injured.

But we give up 3rd and 4th rounders for players we can only get limited time out of (Duckett, Kendall) and when we trade with teams, we get 6th rounders and conditional picks for good players.

Eric Mangini said:

"We were really comfortable with the trade and the value that we got in the trade," Jets coach Eric Mangini said Thursday morning. "When this opportunity presented itself, we thought it was a good opportunity and, as always, we're trying to make the best decisions to help the team win."

Yeah, a 4th rounder for a 34 year old would make anyone "really comfortable". Eric Mangini understands the value of the draft, which is why they are happy as heck with their 4th round pick for a guy who didn't even want to play there any more.

Probably worth noting the actual draft pick hasn't been confirmed yet. But, I know, you scouted all of the available options and determined there was much better value out there for a 4th round pick, I'm sure your application to be the GM will be accepted any moment now.

Blah Blah Blah. Its been confirmed as a 4th rounder. Why don't you go ask Danny why we made the move now as opposed to months ago. We've known Doc was gone for months. The reason is the guys we thought could step up haven't been able to, and now we're in a mad scramble to fill a hole. History shows reasonable people that when the Skins are feeling a pressing need, they give up more than many other teams would to fill it.

You can call yourself the arbiter of all positive knowledge, however, I will say firmly that I hope the guy is a stud, but he's 34 and a 4th round pick is high value for a guy who probably can't play for more than 1 year healthy.

Blah, blah, blah no it hasn't genius:

The New York Jets ended months of acrimony and bickering with starting left guard Pete Kendall on Thursday, trading the disgruntled 11-year veteran to the Washington Redskins for an undisclosed middle-round draft choice.

Also a fun fact:

Several other teams, including the Miami Dolphins, had inquired about Kendall as well.

I have no idea what my new title "Arbiter of All Positive Knowledge" means but I will be putting on business cards.

CBS Sportsline reports that it is either a 4th in 2009 or a 5th in 2008. I pray its the 5th rounder and not the 4th.

No, I think that would make very good since on our end and I am much more happy with that. A 4th in 2009 is fair for a 34 year old guard, we'd actually have another year to recoup the pick via another transaction.

However, looking at that Draft Chart that the teams use, a 4th rounder in 2008 would have been a hefty price to pay for a guy of his age.

I mentioned earlier in this thread that I prayed it was a 5th or 6th rounder, but ESPN erroneously had on their transaction wire that it was confirmed as this year's 4th rounder and that just didn't seem right.

The Hogster wrote:Blah Blah Blah. Its been confirmed as a 4th rounder.

Where has it been confirmed. And if it's confirmed than you can't complain about the 3rd AND 4th the gave up for TJ as your confirmed picked is the 4th rounder that you complained about. I've heard 3 different terms for this deal if it's confirmed can you post a link?

The Hogster wrote: Why don't you go ask Danny why we made the move now as opposed to months ago.

Samuels was healthy months ago and there was no need to worry about bringing someone else in. Wade may have worked out a LG but with Samuels going down it's better to have a guard playing guard and a backup tackle at tackle as opposed to a backup tackle playing guard and a guy still learning his way around the locker room getting thrown in there to try to hold it down until Chris is back

The Hogster wrote: We've known Doc was gone for months. The reason is the guys we thought could step up haven't been able to, and now we're in a mad scramble to fill a hole.

Again this is to do with more than the spot DD held down last year.

The Hogster wrote: History shows reasonable people that when the Skins are feeling a pressing need, they give up more than many other teams would to fill it.

If the pick is a conditional 4th or 5th in 2009 that would be like a 5th or 6th rounder in 2008. Are you saying that too much to fill a spot that was vacant due to a $49M contract?

The Hogster wrote: You can call yourself the arbiter of all positive knowledge, however, I will say firmly that I hope the guy is a stud, but he's 34 and a 4th round pick is high value for a guy who probably can't play for more than 1 year healthy.
I think they are hoping to get about 2 years out of him. That would give the younger guys time to grow. He started 14 games last year and is a very good run blocker (from most reports) and is sure to get more playing time than TJ got last year

You're coming in at the tail end of this conversation. It is either a 5th in 2008 or a 4th in 2009 according to CBS, and its a 4th in 2008 according to ESPN. Irn Bru pointed out that we don't have a 4th in 2008, so we've since given the CBS report more credence. Let me read the rest of this before I respond.

I love the FO's idea of giving getting 80 cent for every dollar, great way to run a franchise, We'll be in the Super Bowl in no time.

I understand this, however, injuries are a part of football and we should understand this from the beginning.

Now, if the CBS report is correct, I've already said that I am very comfortable with the trade of a 5th round pick this year, or a 4th in 2009, as opposed to a 4th this year.

Again, I took a look at the NFL draft chart.

I've been in thread all day. I just can't find out what pick was given up, if it's conditional or what year. With everyone saying something different, I just want the details.
