I have heard that Sirius reported that Gregg Williams reviewed four camera angles and didn't see any evidence of the claimed spit.

Pittman + Ref = :thump:

from what i saw he got up into his face and trashed talked while pittman on the other hand slapped him across the helmet. he didn,t spit on him from what i saw either but yet pittman stays in the game :hmm: .

That one ref probably hated us. I don't think he did at all. When players spit you can see it on tv.

The good news is that, if he did not spit, we beat the Bucs and the refs this time. The bad news is that this will create a stigma for Sean Taylor. That will mean NO trash talking. He needs to just walk away and let those nice hard hits speak for themselves. That way there is no way a ref can even claim he did any spitting or anything unsportsmanlike.

You guys believe what you want to believe. I believe he spit. Wny? Because he didn't protest the call. Because the Redskins did not protest the call. Because his teammates did not talk to him after the call. Because the other player confirmed it after the game. Because ST did not deny it after the game.

Personally, I hate this guy and I hope he is gone next year. And I am on record for saying that I would welcome TO to the Redskins.

Spitting on someone -- anyone, under any circumstances -- is about as far from "character" as you can get.

 Wow... I mean... Ok. Sean if he did it was wrong but the difference between him and TO is that TO will disrespect and destroy our team from within. TO has verbally spat on his own team if you understand my point. I dont want Sean spitting on anyone but at least it wasn't on our own teammate.

LuvaLuva, I know what you're saying, but in my mind, when you spit on someone, even your worst enemy, you are worst than dirt. I take back what I said before. I hope that ST is back next year, but I hope in the offseason he gets the XXXX kicked out of him and comes back with a new attitude. For now, I cannot stand the guy.

Hey, look who started this thread. If he did it, I feel equally pissed. Trust me.

I do not know if he did or did not. I think I would give more credence to Taylor than Pittman, because he's on my team! I also would give more credence to Williams and Gibbs than a player on another team. You're entitled to think whatever you want and you're entitled to support whoever you want - that's part of being a fan - you can choose to support an opposing player, when no one has any concrete evidence of anything so far.

The statement about TO, which has nothing to do with this incident, takes away any credibility in your position.

You believe a player on another team before one of the most respected coaches in the NFL and then you advocate for a player who is one of the low-lifes in the NFL! You just lost a lot of credibility with me on that and anything else!

Here is another fact that helps prove he did not spit. Use logic and common sense here. He was spit on, yet he did not flinch?? If I'm spit on I flinch. Secondly he never wiped the spit off. The first thing a logical person would do is wipe it off. As a matter of fact they show him for quite a while. You never see him clean off his helmet/jersey, what have you. THis is total BS. Use logic here people.

And say what you want about ST, he scares receivers and that is exactly what we needed on this defense. Part of me believes that they actually targeted Taylor because of his impact on the game to that point. Hey Snout maybe you should be a Tampa fan if you cannot back your own players.

You are absolutely right, NikiH. It's coincidence that Simms went to Shepherd in the endzone only AFTER Taylor was out of the game.

The call was bogus, but, as Joe says, we have character players on this team (including Sean), and they were not gonna let their playoff chances slip through their hands with one man down. I wouldn't be surprised if some of his teamates help pay off the fine; these guys are doing everything as a team.

someone correct me if i'm wrong, but when you go to trial in court, do they not disallow your previous arrests and convictions from being discussed, in an effort to guarantee a fair trial for the currect alleged crime? then why does the nfl look at 'past history'?

You're not wrong, but what does the justice system, even as it pertains to the NFL have to do with this incident on a football field?

What if the spit landed Pittman's jersey? Just playing devil's advocate. Sean was wrong to put himself in that position but Pittman deserves everybody spitting in his face for what he did to his wife/girlfriend (whatever they are) and his child.

Ok in this day and age Wu, if someone spits on you, clothing or otherwise, don't you get it cleaned off of you? Who knows what germs it would carry. I'm just speaking logically and with his history perhaps logic doesn't apply but not one person I've talked to thinks he actually spit or saw evidence of it happening.

Here you go!
The NFL carefully reviewed tapes to determine whether Taylor should be fined, but they found no video evidence to support the allegation.
You can find the link in the article posted in Hog Wash.

There are a lot worse things that happen on a football field than getting spit on. Athletes get used to dealing. Brian Bosworth used to eat greasy food before a game just to throw up on opponents.

Talk about germs..

Great News!! As long as that beast is roaming the field with that 21 on his back, I could care less if they made him play with his shoes off...as long as he's out there.

I think he'd spit again and again if he'd only be fined and allowed to play.
He shouldn't be doing that...he's just trying to get his reputation set as a hard unforgiving hitter and nasty player.
I wonder if GWilliams or JGibbs will do anything to him. Hopefully they won't reduce his playing time because we're definitely going to need him for Seattle.

I don't think that will happen because GW believe that he did not spit on him. The coaching staff will just give him a stern warning about keeping his emotions in check.
