Everyone forgets the 'skins were the LAST time in the entire NFL to visit the endzone this season - that's not going to get the job done over a 16-game schedule, nevermind the playoffs. Luckily, the D carried the team until the offense woke up, and hopefully the offense will shift into high gear for the rest of the year. But I see nothing wrong with taking a critical look at the situation - that's what the best do - ALWAYS look for ways to improve. Even when the Patriots win, Belicheck always talks about the areas in which they need to improve. Hopefully, our guys do the same thing - look for ways to get better. It's nice to beat the Cowboys by 1, but when they come up here in a few weeks, it'd be nice to see 'em beat by a lot more than that!

Let us not forget that Brunell had the Dallas stigma (14 of 15) to carry on his shoulders. And it was the FIRST home game of the year for Dallas so u knew we were going to get their best. In the end, we never gave up. Skill is what Brunell and Moss showed at the end of the 4th WHEN IT REALLY MATTERED. No one can blast Brunell's arm now that he is Healthy. Our O will improve with the bye and am looking forward to an 3-0 start. The bottom line, would you had rather lost? Ramsey win IN dallas? LMAO what a joke. The man saved our season in my opinion cause he did something we hadnt done in ....i dont want to remember.
box, we haven't always seen eye to eye, but that was dead on. the whole knock on brunell was that no one was afraid of his arm/deep pass. i think the two in a row probably raised a few defensive coaches eyes. they have to respect it now. not only did he do it. he backed it up and did it twice. it wasn't a fluke. something clicked with those two. and thats a good thing. if teams worry about moss too much, portis will make them look like fools. its good for the whole team.
Seriously, good post man.

I'll tell you what, though Mursilis, if the D plays the way they have so far, and we somehow manage to put up 14 points every game, we will have a good shot at winning the majority of those games.

I'm thrilled that we pulled out a win. Brunell's 25-yard run and two TD passes were awesome. To be honest, I do have some concerns about the rest of the season, as a team, but I'm not even thinking about those right now.
And then I come to theHogs.net and see my fellow skins fans canibalizing eachother, saying "I told you so" and "eat your crow" only two games into the season.
So, tell me, what is so positive about being a complete jerk?
who's being a jerk? if we didn't win, don't you think it would be the other way? 'brunell still can't get it done', or 'gibbs has lost it'. point is, its all in good fun. i don't think anyone thinks they are better than anyone else here. just passing opinions. and eating crow at the moment is a good thing.
you are taking this way too seriously cville. loosen up, sandy baby.
Exactly! He hit the nail on the head.
We won and we had a "Fire Gibbs" thread.
If we lost we would have had that thread and MANY MANY MANY MANY more.
It goes both ways.
My point is, that thread was posted during the 4th quarter, before we scored any points. At that time, the only drives we had that didn't end in punts were turnovers!
Then, we had a miracle come-from-behind victory, and he posted and said he was wrong!
Then, in an amazing display of humility and graciousness, you led a dog pile of people telling him he isn't a real fan. If you step back and look at it, I think you'll agree that goes against your own stated moral position.
now go back and look at the way it all ended between us.
http://www.thehogs.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15298&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=70 like i said. all in good fun. YOU are taking it way too seriously.
dcd is a good guy. has tons of posts here. but, he deserved a little reality on the chin after posting what he did. i was just giving him a hard time, and it seems that everyone involed understood that. sorry if that bugs you.

Why dont we just go back on my posts a few days ago, before the game, and see what i wrote about brunell/jimmy smith, and brunell/moss. This is nothing new for Brunell, he knows how to use these guys. He does have the arm. What he needs is continuity and a chance. Maybe Gibbs does know what he is talking about huh? All the bashing of these two is just crazy. We're not talking about Pram and Spurrier here. Get it right.

I figure I must chime in in what im thinking. Last night the Redskins left me with alot of different feelings about the team and their directions.
During the first 3 1/2 quarters I was thinking the same thing I was thinking for most games Ive watched over the last few years, basically here we go again. Defence playing good and always bailing out inept offence and special teams. For about 5 minuites my view changed a litlle from disapointment to exitment during the 2 touchdown passes. Myself I would never bash Joe Gibbs, he is the reason am a skins fan, coaching the team in the early 80's when I was a kid watching on cbs every sunday afternoon. but that doesn't mean I wasn't questioning what he had going on with my beloved redskins again last night.
It was a big win for the organization last night aswell as the redskin nation, One of the problems i saw was that everybody is celebrating like it was the superbowl and not just the second win of a long season. I realize the team hasn't had a lot to celebrate over the last 10 years or so and It was a big hurdle to clear, but I do hope they take the bye week to enjoy it and get back to business, and start working on a real celebration come February.
Our defence has played lights out the last couple games, but the big quetion mark is offence and that is Joe's territory. From the running game to passing game and most importantly points, why can't we score them. Why didn't we really go down field last night until the last five minutes? I do still have alot of questions about this team and I hope they get awnsered soon in upcoming games.Dont get me wrong 2-0 is a great start, but as far as the redskin bandwagon, the redskins don't have a bandwagon We have done nothing over the past 14 years except lose. I believe anybody who says they are a redskin fan no matter if the bash gibbs or not the are a true fan. When we go 4, 5, 6,-0 then you will see the people jumping on but 2-0 not yet.

A winning season (and playoffs) would be awesome, and I can see it happening. D has carried teams before (Tampa Bay and Baltimore come to mind), but it'd be nice to see the offense contribute a little more. Last year the D played great, and for what? 6-10? It just killed me to see the defense play opponents tough all year last season, only to have the offense come in and contribute NOTHING. I'm hoping those last 5 minutes last night become a turning point, and the offense steps it up big time.

When and where did I bash Joe Gibbs and Mark Brunell?
I defended Ramsey against revisionist history, and I mentioned concerns about which Brunell we'd see (the one of preseason, or the one who tortured us last season).

well put hs! Speaking for myself - its all in fun and I'm sure a lot of the frustration about defending Gibbs is coming to the surface.
It's also interesting to see how hard it is for some of us to just flat come out and say 'you know what - i was wrong' or ' I really thought that Brunell was "over" and could not possibly throw the ball over 50 yards - in the air!'
anyway it is fun to poke a little fun as I'm sure would be done if the shoe was on the other foot.
Hey! We beat Dallas and in such a way as to purge a lot of things from the past few weeks.

I agree, SkinsJock! One sweet, sweet victory goes a long, long way towards healing some of the wounds that have happened in the last 5 years!

Yeah, he's still 4-6 as a starter, so there's a few more wins he needs to deliver before I'm on his bandwagon!

We made a couple of plays at the end...and THAT'S GREAT!
I really like this one. Picture this scenario: If we lost that game last night, I guarantee you it would have been "Brunell lost the game" for us. But, we win the game, based largely on defense and two BIG plays at the end, and it's "WE made a couple of plays at the end". Brunell didn't make the plays, but WE did. I guess the ball just magically travelled 60 yards in the air and landed into Moss's hands, in stride, without any help from the QB.
Again, we lose and it's because of Brunell. We win, and it's because "WE" made a couple of plays at the end.
