It sounds like it means that we have the option to keep him by supplementing his salary with that 3.25 mil.

If Lavar voids his contract he will become a free agent and the Skins will owe him nothing.
However the Skins can choose to keep him by paying him the $3.6M as a bonus, and his current contract would remain in effect.
If the Skins decide to keep him I'm sure there will be a new contract extention.
