These are the guys Im looking forward to the most. I pray that one of the DL can be a DE. We definately need more depth among both lines.

We're one injury away from being where we were last season.

Troutman to try out for Redskins
Pitt forward takes shot at tight end
Thursday, April 28, 2005

By Ray Fittipaldo, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Former Pitt power forward Chevon Troutman will put on a helmet and shoulder pads for the first time in six years tomorrow when he goes through a tryout with the Washington Redskins.

Former Pitt power forward Chevon Troutman (6-6, 240 pounds) will attempt to play in the NFL.
Click photo for larger image.

Troutman, who has not played football since his junior year at Williamsport High School, will participate in a minicamp at Redskins Park with Washington's draft choices and rookie free agents. Troutman will be tried at tight end at the three-day camp.

Troutman, 6 feet 6 and 240 pounds, is attempting to follow in the footsteps of Antonio Gates and make it to the NFL without playing college football. Gates, a second-year tight end with the San Diego Chargers, had 81 catches for 964 yards and 13 touchdowns and made the Pro Bowl last season.

Troutman did not sign a contract and must sign an injury waiver before participating.

If he impresses, he could get a free-agent contract offer and an invitation to training camp.

Troutman could not be reached for comment yesterday.

Three weeks ago, Troutman said playing professional basketball was his first priority and that trying out for the NFL, while still an option, was on the back burner.

He was looking forward to working out for NBA teams and was hoping to win an invitation to the Chicago predraft camp in early June.

If Troutman decides football is his game, he could benefit from a lack of tight end prospects. Only nine tight ends were drafted, the fewest in the past 10 years.

Wow. He was a solid basketball player at Pitt and played with a lot of intesity. I think if he is serious about football, he could be a good player.

I'm so happy we got Harris... I really liked him at Arkansas.

Oh yeah, for those to lazy to find my post about him, I will save you the work of posting, "Who is he?"

Smithian wrote:Steven Harris is the Arkansas Razorback's top WR entering last year until Marcus Monk stepped in as a freshman. He is an alright deep threat.

His character is prett good... Listen to these accomplishments:
1. Actually got both an Adminstrative degree and Compute Information degree in his five years at Arkansas while playing football.
2. Has a wife and two children; Kayla, 3, and C.J, 1.
3. Loves football, but actually almost decided not to pursue football after college considering he had several business offers he was consideing. Never misses Church.

If it wasn't so long, i'd type out the article. It talks about how he balanced earning a double major, a full family, and being a starter on a strong SEC football team.

I don't think he will make it, but I really hope he does.

Boo hoo hoo.

Listen to yourselves for one dang minute.

I have an idea, if you don't like reading, try just touching the monitor and see if you can have the info pass into your head through osmosis. Then maybe you can sit on your duff and do ABSOLUTELY nothing while others are finding all of the info for you.

Then maybe you can grab your bibs and your baby bottles and hit the couch for a couple of hours so that you don't miss any valuable TV time while others are doing all the legwork for you.

Hey... and maybe we can have an ESP session where everybody just logs in and thinks about something until the thought is passed to everyone on the board. That way you guys can really do nothing... well, except complain... most of you are pretty proficient at that.

My 2 cents

If scrolling through one thread is too much of an effort for you, I'd suggest tiddlywinks instead of football... there's less 'work' involved for you as a fan.

Boss do I really have to read this entire post, whine, I mean I'm busy can't you parphrase it put it on an audio tape and mail it to me, at your cost. Call me at exactly 9:02 Friday morning and then tell me whats on the tape?

I really hope Troutman comes in and pans out for us. It would nice to have a prospect like him turn out half as good as Antonio Gates. I think Zach Mills could turn out good with some time to recover from his injuries and develop in NFL Europe. Godfrey from Slippery Rock looks good too.

The basketball player Troutman was released the very first day of mini-camp.
Tight Ends coach Rennie Simmons: 'Unfortunately, if you're not sure what you're doing, where to go or what foot to step with, you're like a duck out of water.'
Troutman's best quote was 'When they first threw everything at me, it looked like Spanish or something,'

Additions according to redskins.com

More than 50 Redskin hopefuls came to Rookie Camp last weekend as certifiable long-shots. By Monday, six of them had completed the first step of their NFL dream.

Following the three-day Rookie Camp, the Redskins agreed to terms with six undrafted free agents on Monday.

* Jon Alston, OL, South Carolina
* Adrian Gonzalez, OL, Louisiana Tech
* Pedro Holiday, WR, Middle Tennessee State
* Charles Howard, DE, Florida State
* Zak Keasey, LB, Princeton
* Dominique Richardson, OL, Howard

Of that group, Keasey could be the most intriguing since he's coming out of the Ivy League. The 6-1, 230-pounder logged 127 tackles last year for Princeton, earning him second-team All American honors. His final collegiate game featured a career-best 22 tackles.

Howard is a 6-3, 265-pound defensive lineman who has experience playing both end and tackle. Last season, he recorded 17 tackles and five sacks for the Seminoles.

Holiday is a 6-1, 182-pound speedster who starred at track and field at Middle Tennessee State. As a reserve wide receiver last season, Holiday logged 16 catches for 176 yards and one touchdown.

The three offensive linemen signed to the roster are all sizable athletes. Alston is 6-5 and 306 pounds, Gonzalez is 6-5 and 328 pounds and Richardson is 6-4 and 301 pounds.

To make room for the six newcomers, the Redskins released the following players on Monday: defensive back Ray Custis, offensive linemen Dan Goodspeed, Brett Hodge and Scott Paffrath, wide receiver Tiger Jones and linebacker Devin Lemons.

Alston was actually signed to a three year deal.
Keasey played with Williams' son, so Williams was probably a little more familiar with him.

Westport's Dave Kashetta, Snubbed in NFL Draft, Signs With Redskins
It was a long Sunday for Westport's Dave Kashetta. The former Staples High School football standout and Boston College tight end was not among players chosen in the National Football League Draft.

But a short time later he signed as a free agent with the Washington Redskins.

"I'm really excited," he told reporters later. "I definitely feel I have a lot to prove now."

Small and slow and he's going to make it? 22 catches his senior year in a weak league. Sounds like a hard working guy, but...

The 2000 Staples grad, who is listed at 6 feet 3 1/2 inches and 247 pounds, last season made 22 catches for 218 yards with four touchdowns for the Eagles. He will join the Redskins at rookie camp this weekend in Washington.

I've read Kashetta is a solid blocking tight end. He was rated as the eighth best tight end in the draft on nfldraftcountdown.com:
