Safety Sean Taylor

Post by SkinsLaVar »

S Sean Taylor:

Okay, is this good stepping up or what? After getting off to a mediocre at best start, Taylor is improving each week and this week he began coming into his own, giving the Redskins defense what they need, and giving fans what we expected. His comfort level in the system has greatly increased and Taylor is making the secondary that much better. This week he stepped it up even higher, recording his two firsts, his first NFL sack, and effectively ending the game with his first NFL interception. Taylor also added 4 tackles to his excellent performance. What is also impressive is watching him run the field, getting involved and making a difference in many plays. You can't help but get excited when thinking about how much more he will improve in 2004. For the second straight week, we award a UP arrow! (Hailredskins.com)

Yeah, check this one out too....

Sean Taylor had a break out performance with his first sack to stop a Chicago drive with 1:33 remaining in the third quarter. Taylor then sealed the victory by intercepting Jonathan Quinn deep in Redskins territory with 25 seconds left in the game. Beside the big plays, he seemed to be everywhere, making every tackle and starting to look like the guy we drafted. He looked great and he will only get better.

He had a great game. He just needs to be smarter with playing the run now. He missed a few tackles which he shoul've made.

Good improvement, really happy with the sack and INT.

I heard an interview with Smoot and they asked about Taylor. Smoot said he is learning that he cannot make every play all over the field. That in the begining he thought he had to carry the defense. He's understanding the fact that the NFL doesn't work like that. He is only going to get better as he settles into his role as a "team member"!

while Taylor had a great game, I think it's important to point out his role has changed after the injury to Bowen. Up to this point, the speedy Taylor was used as a last line of defense, while Bowen was the pass rusher. With Bowen out, Taylor will blitz more frequently, putting him in a position to get sacks he didn't necessarily have before.

I think it also goes to underscore the great job Gregg Williams is doing in bringing blitzes from a variety of defenders.

Frankly, I think given Favre's penchant for throwing the ball up from grabs, in the Green Bay game it might be worth letting Ryan Clark or Andre Lott blitz and let Taylor be a ball hawk in the secondary.

Once all our players are back, this is going to be a fun defense to watch.

I love defense. I was hyped when Brunnel audibled out of a run play and Urlacher yelled, "Rhino, Rhino!!!!!!"

I was hyped!!! 8)

Taylor will be used more I suspect, since MB is out.

Can't stand Miami but as my pro convictions outweigh my college allegiance I forgive all when the player puts on a Redskin uniform...well except for deion sanders...but that's a different rant. Taylor is a beast and I'm enjoying every minute of his improving play.

Btw, kellen who?
She turned me into a newt! ...I got better.

Yeah, and not only because of Sean Taylor, but because of Chris COoley. He is being underutilized in the passing game right now, but when things get clicking, he will be just as good, if not better than KW2.

Taylor is gonna be just an average Safety, his attitude and immaturity will keep him from being great. He benifited at Miami from a good front 7, sorry not good but great.

Yeah big and so far looking slow. He has yet to make an impact or game change hit. ala Roy Williams.

CowboySpeak... I wouldn't worry about Taylor, I'd worry more about your own team. Taylor may not have been all world YET, but he has managed to walk right onto the starting lineup of the #2 defense in the league.

We'll take that kind of 'average'.

As for the pukes... Taylor and his 'average' teammates have managed to allow about ONE HUNDRED NET YARDS less per game to date.

I'll never take anything away from RW... I've said for quite some time what a great player he is... but to be honest with you, he's been about as average as Roy can get this year.

ST may not be quite 'there' yet, but I'm pretty sure that he's going to be alright...

Hey, taylor may never get to RW's level... and they're both trying to catch Ed Reed who continues to show he's the best. Williams seems to have plateau'd, Taylor is just getting going... it would seem prudent to wait before you pass judgement...

... actually, don't bother, because then you won't have ANY argument whatsoever.

But stay on the offensive, that way you won't have to talk about how YOUR team is falling apart mid-season.

Trading Bryant for a different 'problem'? Not exactly a sign of harmony in big D. BP is wondering what on earth happened to his team. So are Puke fans. The meltdown has begun.

Good luck with that.

Tell me who ISN'T being underutillized in the passing game???

It sure isn't the waterboy or fans wanting a game ball.
You'll always be remembered Sean. R.I.P.
