Baltimore stigns Robert Griffin III

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Baltimore stigns Robert Griffin III

Post by welch »

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/ear ... 8356d97134
Robert Griffin III is back in the NFL after agreeing to a one-year contract with a franchise a little over 30 miles from where he had his greatest success in the league.

The former Washington Redskins and Cleveland Browns quarterback will join the Baltimore Ravens, General Manager Ozzie Newsome said in a surprise announcement Wednesday. Griffin, 28, sat out the 2017 season after his release last March by the Browns, with whom he spent one injury-marred season, appearing in only five games after breaking the coracoid bone in his left shoulder in the Browns’ opener.

Shows how desperate the Ravens are. RGIII couldn't help the Browns win but 1 game.

The Browns have made some big changes and have learned a lot from the mistakes of the past decade - they will be a lot better as a result

The Ravens have some issues at QB but they have a good FO and an owner that does not interfere - they are far from 'desperate'
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I tend to agree. Ravens are a solid franchise. They probably see a possibility.

Could Griffin have been a good NFL QB if Shanahan had left him on the bench for a season?

it's a good question - especially for QBs
there are not many college QBs who can handle the transition and RG3 would have been a better NFL QB if he were better prepared
actually, most college QBs would be more productive if they spend some time getting ready to play

Word on the street is this signing is merely a ploy to avoid the accusation from Kap that the Ravens are part of a collusion scheme to blacklist Kap.
Colin Kaepernick was present for Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome and coach John Harbaugh’s depositions Thursday as part of the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback’s collusion grievance against the NFL, CBS Sports reported Thursday night.
Also,
Griffin’s one-year deal is worth $1 million, according to the NFL Network — and the Ravens made it clear the signing wouldn’t prevent them from adding a quarterback in the draft.
Don't be surprised if Griff is cut.

wouldn't surprise me at all if RG3 is cut - he's at least got a chance at having some success in the NFL, even if it's highly unlikely

that's a whole lot more than you can say about his old team, the Redskins
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

This is cold but it makes sense. Griffin will be lucky if he is cut before he gets himself hurt again. The young man needs to move on to the next phase of his life, he just wasn't wired to think fast enough to play in the NFL.

Some of us knew that he was not wired for the NFL back in College. Until his senior season. Which was the only season he was worth a flip. He stunk.
