Rd 3 pick: Kendall Fuller, CB

I admit I know very little about this guy, but from what I'm reading it sounds like he would have gone a lot higher if it weren't for the concerns about his knee. Dr. James Andrews (of RGIII fame) performed the surgery, so I'm guessing we were able to get really good information on it.

The big question for Fuller is when he'll be able to play because of his knee -- and how effective will he be? Fuller tore his meniscus last season and said he'll soon visit with Dr. James Andrews, who performed the surgery, to see when he'll be able to return to full workouts. Fuller said before the surgery they thought he wouldn't miss much time, but when Andrews went in he saw he had to perform the dreaded micro-fracture surgery. However, coach Jay Gruden said he won't be ready for the rookie minicamp May 13-15. And in a worst-case scenario Fuller wouldn't be ready until training camp. But Fuller said he's able to do defensive back drills already; it's just a matter of his strength level. If Fuller regains his game -- there doesn’t appear to be a great deal of concern that he won't be able to do so. Washington had other needs, but the Redskins continue to stick to their board with their desire to simply add good players. They've added terrific depth at corner this offseason, but could use another interior defensive linemen.

I think if you look at it. Redskins brass think he can be just as good as Culliver. Both have injury history but Fuller is younger and cheaper. I'm with the move.

I feel a LOT better about our CB situation, that's for sure. And our OLBs are going to be a force to reckon with. Can't wait to see Cravens flying around too.

But aside from that . . . I'm a bit nervous about the state of our DL, the lack of a real force at ILB, and our non-Cravens safeties.

FFA - my biggest concern is replacing that big guy in the middle - I think we're going to be a lot better with Norman and Galette but not having that run stuffer is a big deal - hopefully someone steps up and I'm sure the coaches know better than I how important that guy was ...

I really think the secondary is going to be the strength of the defense and a strength of the team overall this season.

That blows my mind, man. I think I read somewhere that Quinton Dunbar led the DBs with two picks today too.

Its big to remember that Fuller was a potential first round pick a lot of teams stayed away from because of the injury. Got him in the third round. Hope he holds up because that's exactly the kind of luck we need.

You did. Also, Will Blackmon is jacked. Looks like he might be playing safety instead of corner. Too many secondary players is a nice problem to have.
