No GB @ Skins post game thread?

Post by tribeofjudah »

Well then here it is........

I'm still butt-hurt that we lost but Discount double-check Rodgers is a post season stud!
Our D looked confused at times and Rodgers quick-count snap penalized us BIG TIME...!!!

A few thoughts: goal line, goal line ....put in DY to punch that ball in. Morris stutter stepped and got crushed too often.

Djax was silent on our biggest game of the season ;(

Our D pass rush was lacking when we needed it most.

Rodger got hot and burned us all over the field.

Cobb at running back? We had NO answer.
Kuhn at full back? We had NO answer.

Overall happy with our season output, but man, would have LOVED a win on Sunday.

And still ...........HTTR

I thought DJax showboated a hair on the non TD. That's the time to lean in with a shoulder and SCORE !!! Butterfly effect and who knows how the game goes after that.

I honestly don't think Rodgers played that well. He was good, but not a stud. He missed a BUNCH of passes. Once GB made OL adjustments, he had TONS of time to throw.

As far as the goaline play, I texted a buddy before the play that they should do play action and have Cousins branch out and run it in. I also said there is no way our OL will beat their DL off snap to score. I say this because if little old me knows this, why doesn't our HC/OC? That was poor coaching. DY wouldn't have gotten the ball past the goaline either.

DJax was silent because our OL couldn't protect long enough for DJax to get open. DJax isn't a possession type receiver, he needs to get down field and that requires an OL that can provide him with enough time to run 30 yards and get open. Our OL couldn't support that. GB also has a decent 2ndary.

Our passrush was bad because we don't have quality DEs that get to the edge or push the DTs back in order to open up lanes for our OLBs. There were also a TON of holding calls missed by the refs that GB's OL committed. I can personally recall 7 holding penalties missed (and that is just what I saw and remember).

We were also completely outcoached. GB made adjustments that won them the game. We didn't.
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.

This game showed us just how far we need to go to be a competitive playoff team. Yes we made major strides this season, but we still have a long way to go. I think we will get there with Scotty Mac as the GM. Our O and D-lines were thoroghly outplayed in this one, and that is extremely disappointing as GBs lines were beat up and very pedestrian. What would a very good O and D line have done to us? The return of Luavo at LG will help, but we also need to get ourselves a C this offseason. Licht can't cut it against big NG and LeRibus and Long just aren't very good. I totally expect Sheriff and Moses to be monsters next year as they have an NFL offseason of hitting the weights. The run blocking will improve significantly IMHO. The pass blocking was fine this season, with the exception of when the defenses ran stunts or exotic blitzes at us. We did not seem to adjust to D Line stunts very well. That needs to improve. Our front 7 on the other side of the ball has me scratching my head. There is a lot of talent there, so how come we were run on so much this season? and how come there was ZERO pass rush after the safety? I love Kerrigan, but he needs to step up his game in these big game situations. He was a no show on Sunday. We know we need secondary help. I think the main guy which needs replacing is Gholston. For a SS, he doesn't seem to be a factor in the running game for us. I generally like most of the guys on this team, but its no secret we need upgrades at certain spots. The question is which spots are those? I trust Scotty Mac will make the right decisions.

He's no Dexter Manley. The bigger the game, the better Dexter played. He was like the Hulk of DEs. :hail:

Keep in mind... Dexter NEVER had to worry about coverage. He had two roles... Hold the corner in the run game, and Rush like hell in the passing game... Kerrigan has a somewhat broader range of responsibilities.

Only referencing the pass rush.

My point is, Kerrigan is at a disadvantage with that comparison. Loved Manley... but Kerrigan is much more complete.
Manley also rushed primarily from the weak side... Kerrigan usually from the strong side... You are comparing apples and oranges, even in the pass rush. back atcha...
