Fire The PR Staff Now, Please

Post by Burgundy&GoldForever »

“Yesterday our social media team accidentally posted a Redskins-authored tweet to the third-party Redskins Facts account, which is an account founded by alumni players and supporters and managed by a D.C. public relations firm,” a Redskins spokesman said in a statement. “It was a simple login error that was quickly corrected after the mistake was realized. The Washington Redskins have never posted content to any of the Redskins Facts digital assets, which include a Facebook page, Twitter account, and website. Official Redskins authored content can be found at @Redskins on Twitter.”

So, the team has the login information for a third party account? :^o

This doesn't surprise me. I work for a large government organization with a huge social media presence, and there are people who have the keys to various accounts all over the place. Actually, I'm kind of surprised we don't see more "login errors."

And let me just say, I clicked on this thread expecting a repeat of one of Tony Wyllie's comedy of errors, so I'm relieved to see it was just a harmless social media gaffe.

Of course not but don't talk about a culture change if you're going to keep repeating the same shiftless behavior. Leadership begins with the leaders. I'm looking at you, Tony Wyllie.

I thought this was a mildly embarrassing story when I first heard it. Like some company getting called out for reviewing their own products on Amazon or something. But their response to the story was complete BS:

The Redskins said in statement the mistake was a "login error."

"Yesterday our social media team accidentally posted a Redskins-authored tweet to the third-party Redskins Facts account," said the team on Monday, adding it has never "posted content to any of the Redskins Facts" accounts.

Login error? You just happened to login to some random "third-party" account?

These guys are from Washington, right? You'd think they'd know the lesson that its never about the crime - its always about the cover up.

What a bunch of dunces.
