What are you talking about? Our pass rush isn't in the top 5, but it's not that bad.

It's terrible. After Kerrigan and Baker at 3.5 sacks each, is rookie Preston Smith with 2.0. No one else on the team has more than 1.0 sacks. I realize sacks alone are not entirely indicative of defensive pressure but a total of twelve sacks in six games says the team isn't getting nearly enough pressure on opposing quarterbacks. I can count on two hands the total number of knockdowns and hurries in the Jets and Falcons games combined. We drafted a right guard with the #5 overall pick. Granted, he wasn't drafted to play right guard but it doesn't matter because that's the position he is playing and so we therefore spent a top five pick on the least important position on the offensive line. Scherff may very well end up being a Pro Bowl guard for a decade. He pretty much has to in order to justify the pick. He has to be the next John "Hog" Hannah or Russ Grimm. Meanwhile, we passed on "impact" players like Kevin White and Vic Beasley.

I don't know more than Scot McCloughan about personnel and I don't claim to know more than he does. The team had more holes than Bonnie & Clyde when he took over and he had to start somewhere. A lot of smart people think teams are built from the lines back. I'm not second guessing him based upon Scherff being a need, especially since at the time we didn't even know if Moses could play. At the same time I have to wonder if a different decision may have had a bigger impact. We will have to agree to disagree on the pass rush. Fitzpatrick's uniform looked like it had just been dry cleaned at game's end.

I'm 95% certain our pass rush would have been considerably better with Galette.

I know some would have preferred Leonard Williams, fair enough. But we got a day one starter on the offensive line in Scherff, so I don't have any problem with that. He's been good so far, and I expect he'll get better.

Personally the thing I've enjoyed most about this season has been seeing Long, LeRib, Scherff and Moses all starting last week. I hope those guys + Trent start the rest of the season.

Agreed. We need to get younger and if LeRibeus can play center that will be far more value than any of us have expected from him based upon what we've seen thus far.

Now that I've derailed this thread entirely 8-[ I do have to wonder if Kevin White might have been worth the risk. It looks like we'll be getting nothing from DJax this season.

DING DING DING!

You should go look at stats like hurries and pressures and also advanced statistical analysis. I'm not aware of any reasonable measure by which the Skins could be said to have a terrible pass rush. Even in sack totals we are middle of the road.

I don't know. Maybe they really, really loved Trent Murphy. But 2014 was believed to be a deep draft for WRs. I just find it hard to believe that some of those WRs who were on the board when we picked Trent didn't have better draft grades. I think Bruce believed we had enough wrapped up in the position and went for need. Just my personal opinion.

My bad . . . I didn't realize you were targeting our 2014 strategy. I have no defense for it. There's no doubt we had a rotten talent evaluation system back then.

Gotcha. Yeah its a little late for me to be criticizing that, because McCloughan seems to know what he's doing. I enjoy following the drafts though, and that year really bugged me.

Next item up for bids is a roll of the dice on someone for a disappearing Murphy. He can't stop a run by accident.

This isn't going to help his case...

A group of four or five people armed with guns allegedly stormed into Jackson's residence and engaged in a fight with six people who were inside the home.

One person inside the home was allegedly pistol-whipped and suffered minor injuries before the intruders fled the scene. Jackson was not home at the time, and he was reportedly not the intended target in what police believe was an alleged gang-related crime.

While there is no indication that Jackson had any type of involvement in the incident aside from his house being invaded, he had similar issues in the past.

According to Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ Advance Media, Jackson's Philadelphia home was robbed of $250,000 in 2014 when he still played for the Eagles.

Jackson was controversially released by the Eagles last year, and while head coach Chip Kelly insisted it was a football decision, other reports suggested differently.

Per Shorr-Parks, sources believed Jackson was let go primarily due to his association with members of a Los Angeles gang.

While Jackson has denied ever being part of a gang, he acknowledged knowing and being friendly with gang members when asked about it last year, according to ESPN.com's Cord Jefferson.

Jackson is in his second year with the Redskins, but he has missed all but one game this season due to a hamstring ailment.

He is coming off of the fourth 1,000-yard receiving season of his career, and the three-time Pro Bowler promises to be a huge part of Washington's offense when he returns to action in 2015.

some of these NFL reporters could be making a fortune writing fiction novels ...
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

This one came from law enforcement sources to TMZ. Doesn't necessarily mean that DJax was involved in any way, just that people staying in his house were involved.

I don't think Scot made that assumption, and wouldn't be afraid to take a WR anywhere if he thought he was BPA.

Available is the key.. had Cooper fallen to us I think we wouldve taken him. White was believed to be a top talent, but where is HE now??

I believe Scot's BPA was: Fowler, Cooper, Scherff at 1, 2, 3.

As far as White, he was a one year talent in the NCAA. Those kind of guys are such a risk. He got hurt so we really don't know what he is capable of, but if I were a GM, no way I am drafting a one-year talent guy in the first round....

From Yahoo Fantasy Football:
New Player Note Thu, Nov 5

DeSean Jackson (hamstring) remained "limited" in Thursday's practice.

Advice: We thought Jackson would be "full" by now were he guaranteed to play this weekend, but most signs still point toward him making his return from a seven-week absence. Jackson will be an upside WR3 if he can take the field against New England.

Its amazing that he's not in sync with the QB right now.

DJax is good but I knew he wouldn't immediately solve our offensive issues. We still threw the ball deep like what once?! Kirk is 37th in the league in pass yards per attempt. That is terrible.

Curious how people are feeling about DJax these days?

While he was out all that time, it was easy to believe he would be let go next season for cap reasons. But seeing him out there - and not just on the long TD - you have to appreciate how he stretches the field (at least I do).

He's not perfect, but teams have to have play makers. Right, Chip Kelly?

I don't know for sure about Garcon, but I'm starting to believe they will want to keep DeSean around next year.

He's definitely a game changer. The long bomb for the TD on Sunday changed the tone of the game for us, but I'm curious to see if he can get over the injury bug and remain healthy over the next five games and into 2016. All that said, I'd like to see us draft a tall receiver with great hands at some point down the road to complement our smaller, speedy receivers. :)
