Snyder NOT involved.... (don't you believe it)....hahaha

Post by tribeofjudah »

Allen trying to calm the fans. Me thinks little man Danny is still involved somehow.

For years, Redskins fans have thought team owner Dan Snyder was too involved in player personnel decisions. On Tuesday, Bruce Allen refuted those claims.

"Dan doesn't get involved. I know that," Allen said on the Grant and Danny Show on 106.7 the Fan. "I've been in just about every personnel meeting we've had this year."

Allen spoke at length about his role bringing in new Redskins GM Scot McCloughan earlier this year, as well as priorities for the team after a pair of poor seasons.

"The reason we brought Scot in is for Scot to give us his vision for the type of players he's looking for," Allen said. "At the end of the day, Scot will make the detemrination if somebody fits or doesn't fit."

Bringing in a qualified player personnel guy like McCloughan seems a sea change for the Redskins in the Snyder era. For much of his tenure as owner, Snyder worked with Vinny Cerrato to determine the best way to build the roster, or empowered coaches to also have control over personnel. With a few exceptions, neither formula really worked. Throughout, the Redskins became known for overpaying in free agency and being too casual with trading draft picks. Those days, Allen said, are over.

"We are not going to pay a 'C' player 'A' money," Allen said on free agency, before adding that the "spine of the team" will be built through the draft.

It didn't take long for Allen to be asked questions about quarterback play. Allen explained that Redskins coach Jay Gruden named Robert Griffin III as starter at the NFL Combine simply because Griffin finished the regular season as starter. Allen also pointed out the team expects an improved RG3 for 2015.

"We've seen what Robert can do on the field. We know we have someone that will work hard every day to get better," he said. "It's going to take some time. Young quarterbacks take a long time to develop."

Injuries have limited Griffin in each of his three professional seasons, and Allen admitted that is an area RG3 needs to be smarter.

"Robert's got to stay healthy. That's easier said than done, this is a very physical sport," Allen said of Griffin. "He's got to be smart with the ball, and learn to protect himself."

ROTFALMAO

Yeah....... says the guy that would get fired if he spouted anything different.....

BA also made a rather ambiguous statement in "Dan doesn't get involved"..... He should have finished the statement with what specifically he isn't involved with..... and "personnel" is still very ambiguous; and not being in meetings doesn't mean much when you're the owner..... If BA meant that Danny boy doesn't get involved in who is hired to , I believe it. If he meant football operations...... well, we'll see. That said, it's a pure lie in the sense that ALL owners have to be involved in football (and FO) personnel decisions from a financial perspective. The owner has to relay these types of guidelines...... It is necessary to have some sort of communication --- so if there is NONE, there's a problem.....

The tone sounds great, but totally rehearsed. Danny boy not involved, build thru the draft, don't overspend, allow a real GM to manage the roster, RGIII will improve....... That is great, but the time for talk is over. They have spewed way too much BS over the years. I'm done with their lip service. I wish BA would STFU and let their actions do the talking.
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.

As long as they are employed by the Redskins, there's not a person, coach, player, exec, owner, waterboy, secretary, janitor whose word you can believe. For whatever reason, Bruce Allen always strikes me as particularly full of ****. He has that politician's knack for answering the question he wants to answer rather than the question that was asked.

I don't know if that is unique to this team or not. Just is what it is. I doubt there are many fans around here who honestly believe Snyder has completely "left the building". :)

For a 7 figure salary I would swallow my pride and parrot absurdities also, few among us have higher standards.

This is an amazing fan base. I wonder if Bruce Allen set himself on fire to prove the point he was making, if that would convince us to consider he might be telling the truth. Probably not.
I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

Just look at the way the fan base dresses, clearly asking for it.

I believe that if Snyder did stick his nose in that McCloughan would up and leave. I can't see how he would have taken the job without assurance that it was all on him and Danny would leave it all alone.

Well, you have more faith than probably anyone here. I don't know McCloughan and I presume you don't either but he comes with some big baggage and signing up with Snyder warts and all gets him back in the game. I am going to assume Synder's arm is stuck up the back of every guys shirt in Ashburn. They all sign up for the money and understand the drill, it's Dan Snyder's football.

I hear you. And I appreciate the baggage with McCloughan, however he's made a significant difference to some serious organisations so I don't think it was a case of us or nobody - one of the other desperate teams would have come calling eventually.

And despite what everybody says about Danny, I do believe he does want to win. The novelty value of owning a team and acquiring players has worn off, he's getting heat. Is it so hard to imagine that he has learned his lesson and will leave it all to the experts seeing as everything else has failed miserably..???

Put yourself in his expensive shoes, wouldn't you step aside..?
