Morgan Moses struggling

Not sure I'd take anything I read from the Redskins PR department as the definitive word! hah. But yeah everything I've seen on Moses lately has been much more positive. I really think the comments early on about Moses struggling were about getting people to realize he wasn't likely to be a day one starter.

I did read today that Moses is supposed to be getting some time at backup RT this weekend v. the Ravens and maybe some reps with the first team. That is definitely good news and a legit signal that he's been improving. The guy was drafted to be our future right tackle. Good to see he's making progress towards that.

Btw from that article it kind of sounds like the pressure is on Tom Compton. If Moses does well and shows he can back up both Williams and Polumbus this year, seems like it could be tough to keep Compton. think so?

True, and I get what you're saying. All rookies are going to have to adjust to the NFL. But why is it less relevant to point out that Morgan Moses struggled in his first camp than for writers to point out that Trent Murphy and Spencer Long both started out strong at the same camp? Its not even that surprising. People were suggesting before Moses was drafted that he had some issues to work on to become an NFL starter.

Some rookies are further along and prepared to contribute earlier. I don't get why people get their panties so twisted up about writers' opinions and observations from training camp. Its not like any of us are there watching the practices to know what's going on.

Pointing out they are struggling, which should be expected, and saying he might/should be cut are two VERY different things. I just hope he's ok. Any MRI news?

Definitely. This was just a greatly exaggerated "story" to begin with.

Mike Jones from the Washington Post was responding to a reader's question about Tom Compton in his mailbag column. You can read it for yourself. He doesn't remotely say that Moses was in danger of getting cut. His comments were "During one-on-one drills with pass-rushers, Compton has held his own at a higher rate than has Moses. You can tell Moses is still getting used to the speed and strength that NFL players possess." and "It’s hard to see them cutting Compton unless Moses makes great strides. But, it’s also hard to see them giving up on a third-round pick this quickly."
