Who's going to be the hero?

Post by Scooter »

Bugel and Gibbs are looking for someone to be the hero in filling in for Jansen. Kenyatta Jones looks to have the inside track, and will get first shot. Last season, Brandon Winey played remarkably well and Mark Wilson and Jim Molinaro. I'm wondering if Cory Raymer could slide outside and fill the bill. He's very smart and has good feet. At 6-3, 300 lbs - I think he's got plenty of size.

Or, the Skins could move Randy Thomas to RT, sign Nails to play guard, or move Raymer to C and slide Friedman to the OG.
In any case, our best to Jansen for a speedy recovery and a toast to whoever can fill the spot for the season.

There is some speculation about a trade, or free agent off the street too - but I doubt it.

Your guess?

Your guess is as good as mine. :) All your suggestions sound good to me... It's really just gonna depend on whoever steps in his place... stepping up his game and Buges getting him ready for the start of the season....All I know is that we do need a hero...I’m holding out for a hero ‘til the end of the night...He’s gotta be strong...And he’s gotta be fast...
And he’s gotta be fresh from the fight...

Didn't we sign Ray Brown to replace Jansen at right tackle this year? :hmm:

When I asked Scott why we'd sign a 41 year old, he said it was for depth. So was he signed maybe just to back up Kenyetta? I just hope they fill this void for this year! Jansen is going to be missed. :-(

Is it my imagination or is Ray Brown traditional a RG...and if so does that mean we may be looking at Dockery at RT at some point before the season starts. I really dont think old man river Ray Brown can be a bookend at his ripe age...Id personally like to see Jones or Winey battle it out for that spot

Brown's just to have an full complement of bodies. The starting RT is going to be someone else.

I feel old but I swear Brown is older than I am. Is there a free agent AARP home?

as an aside, what a great way for gibbs to describe the situation; that we'll need someone to be the hero. spurrier, once someone told him what the right tackle postition is, would have moaned about having to find someone to fill in. but gibbs challenges the players by asking' who wants to be the hero?'. it's great.

It's called coaching, and it's been quite a while since the Skins have seen it! It rocks!

Brown is technically a Left Guard. If Jones gets hurt, they can move Dockery to fill in at Right Tackle and have a proven 18 year vet waiting in the wings if necessary.

Agreed 'Baga - just telling it like it is - Somebody step up and do the job... don't wait for me to come begging! My heart goes out to Jansen, and the team will miss him. But we can't sit back and boo-hoo about it - the season is upon us and we need a man with a pair to step up and be solid for the team.

Gibbs won't say it - but Bugel might - "you gotta pair?" :0)
