Idea for the Hall of Fame game #81

Post by JDC »

I don't want to start another Art Monk debate, because everything that needed to be said has been said. But I think it would be awesome if the Redskins all had #81 patches on their shoulders for the Hall of Fame game this Monday. That would be amazing.

Great idea! Now all we need is someone to pitch it to Danny and Joe. Any Suggestions?

(I'm kidding) I think it's a good idea, too.

Not a bad idea. Send them an e-mail via redskins.com. Maybe if all the users on this board send the same e-mail, they'll get the point. There is strength in numbers, people!

I sent an email to Redskins.com before starting this post. I wasn't sure what department to email so I sent it to community relations. Everyone else should email them as well.

I also called a friend of mine that works for the skins. Man I wish I had this thought a month ago.

Hey Boss,
is there anyone's ear you can bend with this idea at training camp. Talk to the players and coaches. Joe would love this idea I think.

I don't know, hoss. If Monk gets even an inkling that this has to do with advertising himself for HOF consideration, he'd never show up. It'd have to be related to his football camp or a favorite charity for him to even consider showing up for it. I'm given to understand that he really dislikes token gestures (i.e. resigning with the Redskins and immediately retiring). He's also diametrically opposed to self-promotion.
I think the onus is on us to keep his name out there. Still, I like the idea of the #81 on the jersey, philosophically. Realistically, it ain't happening. Anything wholeheartedly endorsed by Dan Snyder is pure poison to the selectors. Sadly, Monk's chances were very likely reduced when Danny bought the club.

Maybe Joe can include a reference to his great teams of the 80s during his halftime interview. I'm sure Joe can get the ball rolling.

I've never witnessed the HOF enshrinement ceremonie. Do all living members get invited, and do they attend? That could be Joe's chance to streak across stage with a "Put Monk in the HOF" sign. :D

Check this article out. I think it makes our plot even more appealing. Forgive me if it's already been posted.

It includes this nice picture in it. :D

Yes that would be nice and then we take over the joint and make threats to induct the man, "Art Monk."

Thanks, tcwest10. But the use of "finally" is a bit much. Glad you enjoyed it.
