should ramsey win out the starting job, do you think that we should keep mark for the money he's making just to sit him on the bench?? you might say we should always have a good backup right? but that alot of money that can really help us out in regards to an upgrade on our D-line,,,lets say maybe a pass rusher we can always pick up a backup for far lesser cash like (Cater)vet min??? which would allow us to be in the top five on both ofense and D-fense. what do you think??????

I would want to keep him. Last year a major problem was having a back up that wasn't a good versed veteran. So I think he's worth every penny if something happens to Ramsey. As much as we have need in other positions, a good back up QB is also a need.

No more ex-Cowboys. Especially those with drug problems, which is to say, all of them. They would take too big a cap hit to cut Brunell loose now. He will be with the team this year and next guaranteed.

Did you really just put Carter's name in the hat as a backup? No way... If Ramsey starts, I say hang onto Brunnell for a while. He and Ramsey are getting along, Ramsey seems to respect Brunnell's experience and they have much in common off the field too. It can only help Ramsey, IMO.

Absolutely not. The point of getting Brunell was to solidify the QB position. Just because he doesn't start doesn't mean he's not useful. Outside of Manning and Favre, the percentage of QB's that play the whole year is really low. Having either Brunell or Ramsey in the bank is a great help.

I love Ramsey. He stood tough last year despite the punishment thanks to non-Coach Spurrier. But, if he starts this year and does well, the Skins will have a major problem on their hands next year. They can't cut Brunnell until 2006, because of the cap hit they would take. And there is no doubt that Ramsey would hold-out for a new contract -- and deservedly so if he's getting millions less than his back-up. For this reason, Skins fans should hope that Brunnell wins (and keeps) the job for this year. Then, if in 2005 Ramsey wins the job, they can realistically cut Brunnell in 2006 and sign Ramsey to a new "starting QB" contract.

The Redskins have no option here. The front office made a decision to sign Brunell, and he basically HAS to stay with the team until his guarateed money is paid (bonuses). His signing bonus is somewhere around 8 million and it is probably prorated. So the Skins front office would be facing a cap hit of probably over 4 million next year. Seeing as the cap is 80.1 million or so this year, his cap hit (for not even having him) will be 5% of the Redskins salary cap. Brunell is with the skins for at least 3 years. whether you like it or not.
