Will Montgomery & I need to rewatch the game.
I'm a little pissed. I remember watching the fumble at the end, and remembering Montie went out about then. I also remember someone on the Browns twisting his (maybe someone else's but I think his) knee in that long pileup. If Montie hurt his knee on that play because of a bush league thing like that, I want the Browns fined and that guy suspended. I won't get a chance to re-watch that part of the game tonight, but did anyone else notice that?

I believe that was the Ravens game. However, I thought the very same connection!FLWSkin wrote:I'm a little pissed. So. I did rewatch the game. #97 for the Browns grabs Montie's left leg in the fumble pile and gives it a pull. He seemed ok. Now on the next series Montie gets that same knee rolled on and that is where he got hurt. If that tug hurt it a little bit I can't say, but I did go back and the same thing happened in the Giants game when Morris fumbled. Any fines from the league on these? I doubt it, I'm sure they don't see guys going after our players like that but they notice what RGIII wears on the sideline though. I'm not happy.

On the NFL replay, you can see him trying to shake & stretch it off. Then on the next play Kirk Cousins says "Are you alright?? If you're not alright then get down."
He goes off the field the next play.
Good news is this dude went full go in practice yesterday.

I'm glad he can go though. Right now, these players who would have contributed to this team this year, are on IR:
Brian Orakpo
Fred Davis
Brandon Merriweather
Adam Carriker
Chris Neild
Jordan Bernstein
Roy Helu (albeit not much)
Chase Minnifield
Jammal Brown
Then there are the suspensions:
Tanard Jackson - Starting FS
Cedric Griffin
Jordan Black
For this team to still be #1 in the NFC East is remarkable. Reminds me of the Packers Superbowl team.

Imagine next year, when most of those are back... and we add a few more targeted picks and FA's... That's a lot of talent on IR.The Hogster wrote:I'm glad he can go though. Right now, these players who would have contributed to this team this year, are on IR:

Out of that list, we might get Griffin and Black back either at the beginning of the playoffs, or later. The Hogster wrote:I'm glad he can go though. Right now, these players who would have contributed to this team this year, are on IR:

Question: Can we get ANYBODY else back THIS season during the playoffs???

I heard a report that if Orakpo had been given the return designation, there would have been a chance for him to return if we make it deep into the playoffs.Redskin in Canada wrote:Out of that list, we might get Griffin and Black back either at the beginning of the playoffs, or later. The Hogster wrote:I'm glad he can go though. But, that is the only guy that could have. So the short answer to your question is No, I don't think we can get anyone back.

You know what thow, the way Rob Jackson has been playing he needs to get a good amount od playing time even next year whe Orakpo is back. The Hogster wrote:I heard a report that if Orakpo had been given the return designation, there would have been a chance for him to return if we make it deep into the playoffs.Redskin in Canada wrote:Out of that list, we might get Griffin and Black back either at the beginning of the playoffs, or later. The Hogster wrote:I'm glad he can go though. Personally, I think Jackson is better in the running game and he is defiantely better in pass coverage! I guess what I'm saying is Orakpo is only better at rushing the passer.
Maybe next year we can get Orakpo and Kerrigan some rest.
Never, mind! I see Jackson isn't under contract. He has played too well to end up coming back since we will still have the Mara $18M cap hit and he will get a decent contract from some 3-4 team.

Maybe you know him. Has three SB rings.
of course... that wise coach didn't have to deal with salary caps, and was expert, along with his GM, at finding and stashing talent off to the side, and at bending the injury rules in place at that time to hide talent for later use (hint... it's the reason the current injury rules exist).
Oh, yes he did!

True! Big game in Cleveland for that guy.skinsfan#33 wrote:You know what thow, the way Rob Jackson has been playing he needs to get a good amount od playing time even next year whe Orakpo is back.
btw I couldn't believe how huge Rob Jackson was. I had not really noticed him much before seeing that INT being replayed. Dude is a monster!
I don't agree that Helu wouldn't be used much. He would give us a real change of pace back capable of breaking long runs. The Hogster wrote:I'm glad he can go though. Right now, these players who would have contributed to this team this year, are on IR:

Agreed, too. Can you imagine him and Orakpo rushing the quarterback from opposite sides of the line.riggofan wrote:True! Next year should be really, really something different for this franchise. Refreshingly different.

This team is being built the right way. And, the Shanahan's are proving Bill Bellichick and Joe Gibbs etc right. You can find great players in any round--even free agency.
Alf Morris - 6th Round
Rob Jackson - 7th Round
Richard Crawford - 7th Round
Tyler Polumbus - Undrafted
Aldrick Robinson - 6th Round
Niles Paul - 5th Round
And these are just the guys that this regime has acquired. *Polumbus was brought in by MS in Denver.
Stephen Bowen was Undrafted
Pierre Garcon is a 6th Rounder.
It was genius to get RGIII via trade. We have enough picks to continue building this team the right way.

Not sure, Aldrich Robinson, Crawford, or Paul help your case. Paul had caught fewer passes than Banks and people claim Banks provided nothing.
Hey but Paul is our only TE under contract for next season... yeah! I'm so looking forward to that!

Well if the question is between sitting kerrigan or orakpo to get jackson in the game, that's easy, sit kerrigan. Rob's not an every down backer, not with those 2 in front of him, but if I'm bringing in jackson as a rush specialist or change up or whatever on a passing down, then I'm not gonna take my best rusher out, am I? So ryan, grab a drink right quick.cowboykillerzRGiii wrote:Ahem... Kerrigan?emoses14 wrote:Agreed, too. Yes. The point I'm making is that although we don't have 1st round picks in 13 and 14, we don't need them. We can make up for it by stockpiling mid to late round picks and drafting wisely there. You do know Vinny drafted Rob Jackson, right?

I think the wise thing to do would be to (i) teach Rob Jackson both positions so that he can spell both of them rather than backup just one (assuming he doesn't know both already) and (ii) designing some packages to get him in the game with those two.emoses14 wrote:Well if the question is between sitting kerrigan or orakpo to get jackson in the game, that's easy, sit kerrigan. Maybe bringing out Perry Riley, or going with those Amoeba formations that the Steelers and Pats have used.
Either way, good problem to have. Depth is good.

They'll be able to re-sign Jackson (or get a draft pick) once they tender him a offer... The Skins are doing OK cap wise for 2013 if you look at the big picture.skinsfan#33 wrote:You know what thow, the way Rob Jackson has been playing he needs to get a good amount od playing time even next year whe Orakpo is back. The Hogster wrote:I heard a report that if Orakpo had been given the return designation, there would have been a chance for him to return if we make it deep into the playoffs.Redskin in Canada wrote: Out of that list, we might get Griffin and Black back either at the beginning of the playoffs, or later.

I haven't did a update on the cap situations in about 5 or six weeks but at that time the Skins had almost $5M in cap space, that's while taking the $18.55M "Mara Cap Hit", and are in the hunt for the NFCE title.

Hogster listed players that could help that are on IR or suspended, if you add the cost in cap space of the two undrafted rookie running backs on IR, you're looking at almost the same amount of cap space ($18.45M if you also add in Fred Davis) as the "Mara Hit"

In other words the as Hogster's list of players get healthy, they'll basically off set the impact of next year's cap hit.
