Robert Griffin III's concealed Nike logo

Post by Deadskins »

Robert Griffin III turned in one of the most-impressive quarterback debuts in NFL history on Sunday, but his pregame attire is what caught the attention of the league, according to ESPN.com.

While warming up for the Washington Redskins' season opener against the New Orleans Saints, Griffin donned a shirt inscribed with the word "Heart" running down the left side, the "H" concealing the logo of official NFL apparel sponsor Nike. Griffin has a lucrative endorsement deal with adidas.

Players are not allowed to cover up Nike's logo, but can wear brands of sponsors that have deals with the NFL, according to the report.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told ESPN.com that league officials plan on talking to Griffin.

"It won't happen again," McCarthy said.

We'll probably get docked another 10 million cap and a third round draft pick.

Can't wear headphones, can't customize his shirt . . . kid just can't win.

Except where it matters, of course. ;)

I bet Addidas pays the fine for Griffin. Then Nike will sue Addidas. Then Subway will sue Quizno's, just to sue Quizno's.

I might have been the only one, but I'm pretty sure I saw Griffin pull a Tebow (on the field, though) after throwing one of his TDs . . . I think it was after he hit Robinson over the middle.

Read this on espn. Totally doesn't matter, but I do think that RGIII shouldn't do it in the future.

Nice to see who really runs the NFL though........

You mean he was "fall to one knee and bow my head on the field of play as thanks to the Lord as players have done since, forever"-ing?

And yeah, he definitely did.
I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"
