What to Look for in Last Pre-season Game
What should we be looking for?
While we're at it, maybe we could ignore the Week 1 Prediction thread and leave that talk to a game-day thread that doesn't have the predicted score in the title.

Well, for starters, there will be at least 2 kick-offs, 2 halves, and at least 4 fifteen minute quarters... A bunch of players who are hoping for a miracle that lands them a place on the regular season roster... and, very few starters in the game.
I'm ready for regular season, my friend.

What I'm hoping to see is the final 2 or 3 WRs separate themselves from the rest of the pack. We know our 4 but after that, no one is a lock.
Also, I'm curious to see which RBs actually play and lastly, some domination by the offensive line would be nice. I could care less if it is vs backups.
Lastly, I want to see a Dback make a play.

Personally, I love the preseason games because you get to a great knowledge of where the team truly is positioned.
It's been a pleasure watching Mike/Bruce rebuild this team. If you don't pay attention to the squad in it's entirety, then you can't have a true appreciation for where it's at compared to where it was.
We have players that we're going to cut that will be picked up by other squads. That's how deep we are at LB, RB, WR, and possibly saftey. THAT SAYS A LOT.
We aren't that far removed from Malcom Kelly and Devin Thomas! Chris Wilson, Kuel (spelling), these guys have played great but can't all make the team. Madieu Williams, Tanard (I believe should start at FS) and Merriweather (obviously wont be cut).
Wow.
- I'm watching this game to watch Briscoe continue to separate himself from the pack, he's the real deal. It was amusing watching some of you say that he was a waste of time. LMAO. A man who caught 6 TD's for a team is a waste of time for a Redskins squad that didn't have ONE WR accomplish that feat in forever. LMFAO.
Look for Briscoe to continue to move up the ranks and potentially supplanting a WR that I've been cheering for in Leonard Hankerson.
edit:
- I'm watching this game to see if Tanard can push Williams for the FS role. Tanard is the better player but can he keep his head screwed on straight? So far, he has.
- I want to see some more Chris Cooley. He's always been "slow" IMO but I want to see if he still can get YAC with that dead leg thing he does.
- More Crawford! I'd like to see him solidify that slot DB position. It's a blessing that we put Minnifield on IR because it'd be tough having to keep both of these dudes on the 53! I love ya D. Hall but you might have to take a reduced salary if BOTH of these dudes pan out!
- And of course, I'm anticipating one of our kickers to have a complete meltdown. LMAO
- An entire game of Jarvis Jenkins, Chris Baker and others... That will be great to watch. Hopefully this will give Jarvis plenty of time to shake more of the rust off and garner more trust in that knee. He doesn't seem to be the force that he was last year but it seems it's mental at this point.

I won't make too much of this but if Josh has potentially eating into Hanks playing time. I won't be shocked to see Briscoe do the same. And I'm not knocking Hankerson, he's more or less still a rookie. Both of these guys have more experience but they're all talented. If Hank gets pushed onto the back burner this year, I'd expect to see him resurface when the team has to make a decision on Moss.Washington Times wrote:Morgan said afterward he is finally playing without pain in his surgically repaired right leg. He replaced Leonard Hankerson with the first-string at one point during the first half.
Man... I'd hate to see this kid go. He's a prime example of how long it takes the typical WR to truly develop in the NFL. His play against the Colts showed that he's starting to "get it" but sadly theres so much YOUNG talent at the position that it's not enough. Thankfully for him, I can see him getting picked up by someone and I wouldn't be shocked if it's a division rival. This is one of those cuts that could come back to bite you in the arse.Washington Times wrote:Both of WR Terrence Austin’s receptions converted third downs. He set up the defensive back on the first catch by stemming his route to the left before cutting hard back to the right. Austin says he has significantly improved the quality of his routes in his two-plus NFL seasons.
He might be one of the odd men out in the receivers competition, but he’s good enough to catch on with another team. It’s a sign the Redskins are improving the quality of their depth. Selfishly, I'd like for Austin to stick around. He's a smart guy who has articulated well what it takes to develop as a receiver.

The road to the number 1 pick gaining speed!

His contract with Gatorade may require more. He may have to sip every time the camera flashes to him.Irn-Bru wrote:While he sits on the bench, what's the over/under on how many cups of Gatorade RGIII finishes? The forecast calls for less humid weather and sub-80 degree temps by kickoff, so I'm thinking he has fewer cups rather than many. So, 3?

If you are talking the 6oz cups, I'll take the over.
